Is there any nice tasting alcohol free wine? Every red I have tasted is like vinegar and white isn't much better but at least I can add lemonade.
I'm 3 weeks into a years abstinence and I miss the social aspect of it, the alcohol free lager is ok.
Shall I just give up with the wine or have any of you found the holy grail.
Oh and my aibu is am I bu to moan about this.

seedlip - sort of no alcohol gin - is ok, and lager as you say. Wine is always foul IMO

Ikeameatballs · 13/07/2026 21:51

I bought Wednesday’s Domaine after it kept popping up on social media and poured it down the sink!

I like a couple of the zero “gins” and a lot of zero lagers but struggle to find any zero wine that I can drink. Frexienet zero is okish if very cold.

Nousernameideaaga · 13/07/2026 21:52

Never found a good non alcohol wine

but nosecco is quite good if you like Prosecco

travailtotravel · 13/07/2026 21:52

Nope, basically- anything they do to take the alcohol out makes it disgusting. Anything else is grape juice.

Kingdomofsleep · 13/07/2026 21:55

Not wine but I'm getting really into the non-sweet flavoured fizzy waters, like Dash, Aqua Libra and Nix Kix.

I wasted money on alcohol free gin when pregnant, it's an oxymoron and tastes rubbish. Nosecco is ok for parties just so you can help people feel included if they're driving, but it's no wine really

Wild Idol is nice if ice cold, but it’s not cheap! I’ve bought it a few times for special occasions when others are drinking expensive sparkling wine or champagne. Haven’t found any others that are remotely drinkable. I like Real Dry Sparkling Fermented Tea, feels like a bit more than just a soft drink.

Wokeuptired · 13/07/2026 21:58

I will try the nosecco thanks

Do/did you like prosecco? Some of the no alcohol versions of that are OK. M and S do their own or Sainburys has nosecco.

I find them all a bit dry but nothing to do with the alcohol content. I think it's quite hard to recommend as I like very different wines to my friends anyway, it's all personal tatse isn't it.

I got some called H, Hola at Christmas and that was quite nice.

Hope you find something.

I quite like the Kylie sparkling rosé. It’s obviously not as nice as the real thing but for me it’s an acceptable substitute.

MyBigBoots · 13/07/2026 22:03

Kylie sparkling rosé, and M&S Fizzero, both the rosé and white, are nice. I’m yet to find a really nice red, unfortunately.

MercianQueen · 13/07/2026 22:04

I found some excellent alcohol free lagers, but not a single decent wine. I’ve gone for kombucha instead, which feels more grown up than a soft drink without being an eternal disappointment

Ineffable23 · 13/07/2026 22:07

Nosecco is drinkable.

Adnams alcohol free cider is quite decent.

Otherwise I go for kombucha but take it easy when you try it as it disagrees with some people so don't chug half a litre on the first attempt.

Or tonic and bitters.

AllFours · 13/07/2026 22:08

Saicho Sparkling Tea is lovely - you can get it on Amazon. They’re all interesting, complex flavours. The Jasmine is my favourite

Minesril · 13/07/2026 22:08

The M&S AF merlot is quite nice.

RosieCockle · 13/07/2026 22:09

The sparkling ones are okay. Kylie, Freixenet, M&S. (Not Elton John Zero!) Still wines are awful.
AF Aperol mixed with a sparkling white is a decent Spritz substitute.
I never drank rum before, but Captain Morgan 0% is ok with Diet Coke (no calories either).

GladViewer · 13/07/2026 22:09

I thought Ttompson & Scott’s Noughty sparkling wine was the best I tried, in that it wasn’t too sweet like most of them were. Not wine but I really liked the Pentire range too.

RosieCockle · 13/07/2026 22:10

Oh yes, Sheppy’s AF cider (Tesco) is decent.

I will try the nosecco thanks

Freixenet is much nicer than nosecco.

Summerhillsquare · 13/07/2026 22:11

The Viña Sol rosé (nosé?) is tasty.

UnPetitDunPetit · 13/07/2026 22:12

Crodino is lovelyif you want to try an alternative option - I'm so glad you can now buy it in the UK!

MouldyCandy · 13/07/2026 22:13

I prefer the rosé nozecco to the white. The Aldi 0% is actually not too bad.

hahabahbag · 13/07/2026 22:14

Alcohol free fruit cider tastes the same , all other alcohol free taste odd at best

MrsLFii · 13/07/2026 22:20

I quite like nosecco and Freixenet. The lidl sparkling isn’t bad either, and the Kylie options. Still wines are tricky, I find, and that’s such a shame because I do so enjoy a nice glass of wine… or did. Three years sober here.

Sweetbeansandmochi · 13/07/2026 22:37

I do like a tea - I forget but there is one in Waitrose near where they have Holos. I have tried almost all the AF that I can find and mainly they have been disappointing. Sparkling AF wines are better, I have found, but what I really want is an AF red.
