Depends on your job. If you work in a mattress shop I can’t imagine it being that bad. If you passed out in my work, you’d likely end up dead

What was the point of this thread? No context just this 12 word sentence which means sweet fa then the OP pisses off.

@CasperGutman

" Very funny. Yeah. St John's Ambulance, they're a joke, they'll probably treat heatstroke with polo mints, etc. "

This is a really unfair comment

Careers it would be bad in:

brain surgeon (perhaps lots of different surgeons)
Ballet dancer during a show
Trapeze artist
Tree surgeon
Crane driver
Flambe at the table waiter
Spaceship driver
Single crewed pilot without satnav/autopilot

HTH

Provided you’re aren’t pregnant or have a health condition you need to have an arsenal of strategies to help with the heat!
School has been hotter than Satans armpit this week and I’ve had a neck fan on alternated with a cooling neck towel
Cool water sprays at regular intervals
Wet wipes throughout the day for my arms and neck
Then ice packs at night before need to cool me down and help me sleep.
And gallons of water! I’m usually a good drinker anyway and manage at least 2 litres of fluid but even with that my pee has been quite dark so yesterday I had 3.5 lites! I’ve taken to carrying round a 950ml bottle of chilled water and munching more crisps to up my salt levels (any excuse!)
The heat at moment is horrendous but we need to be more proactive in managing how we mitigate it.

I apologise to @Backedoffhackedoff as I may well have misread the intent of their comment.

When they said they always read the SJ website in situations like this I had the clear impression they were being sarcastic and dismissing my contribution out of a lack of respect for the source I cited. Reading back over the thread this was far from clear, and it's just as likely they were being sincere.

Sorry for failing to assume good faith and for not asking for clarification before being silly/sarcastic myself.

Op, if you do the following, you will not faint.

  • Drink plenty of water - not Coke
  • Wear thin loose cotton or linen clothes over cotton bra & pants.
  • Move SLOWLY
  • Stay in the shade - draw blinds if you have them.
  • Eat plenty of fruit & salad. Reduce your protein as this generates heat when digested.

You'll be fine.🙂
