I confessed to a friend that I had a bit of a crush on Postman Pat. He’s not the most conventionally attractive man, but he has a calming way about him, and is clearly a capable problem solver and provider. He’ll also have a good public sector pension, and security is a big plus for me.

I mentioned this to a friend and she said I had “no chance”. She said Pat was a middle-aged single man with a cat, and I should “read between the lines”.

AIBU or is my friend just jealous?

Maybe it’s his hair? It’s one of those dodgy 70s square cuts, looks like his mum did it.

OMG yes! Definitely fancied him. Also was rather partial to King Triton (little mermaid) - now he had a banging body for an older man. Strong and assertive. A bit oppressive when he found out that Ariel wanted to party with the humans but then came good at the end.

You have to understand that the programmes were made a long time ago. Pat is probably in his 70s by now.

This made me laugh a lot, back when I was on Twitter.

King Triton was a hot piece of tail. My favourite was Kokoum from Pochahontas though. So handsome and much more interesting than John Smith.

He-Man has that Gym Bro look. I bet he eats only broccoli and plain chicken breasts, talks about his weight training split ad nauseum and is probably on steroids. That's not boyfriend material.

There used to be a sweaty dub of postman pat called Boro Pat or something. He said all the kids in the village were his if I remember rightly.
