To ask where you hang your wet bathroom towels?

To ask where you hang your wet bathroom
towels after use?

Our bathroom is tiny, so they end up on the bannisters. The house is ‘cosy’ size.. so it looks like a laundry 90% of the time.

One believe the servants take them to be washed and provides new dry towels throughout the day.

One would have thought this is the simplest solution and ponders why everyone would not do this.

We used to do as well @KingOfPoundbury until the servants demanded to be paid minimum wage so we had to sadly let them go.

Now we're forced to use the heated towel rail just like so many other people.

We don't have a banister. In the summer in the conservatory, out on the decking rail. Winter heated towel rail.

NoWordForFluffy · 02/07/2026 13:10

Our bedroom has a balcony, so our towels go out there to dry. The kids hang theirs in their bathroom

40kW??? I don’t think so!

40w then, I'm sure you can work out what I meant.

Scarlettpixie · 02/07/2026 13:27

We have hooks on the bathroom doors and my son has some behind the door in his room.

LoudPlumDog · 02/07/2026 13:40

They go in a bucket on the laundry bench, along with anything else damp. Wash every couple of days.

wonkylegs · 02/07/2026 13:53

We have a set of foldaway coat hooks in our bedroom where my husband & I hang our towels to dry after they’ve been used
kids have hooks in the bathroom

Don’t use towels! I can’t stand damp towels hanging around. Each person gets a towelling bathrobe. Keeps in bedroom. Folded flannels by sink to dry hands.

Edited

But then the towelling robe will be damp. Don't understand this method.

How often do you wash the towelling robe btw?

p0pple · 02/07/2026 15:19

I hang mine in the bedroom on a trousers clip hanger to dry.

Nousernameideaaga · 02/07/2026 15:22

Teens hang them on the bathroom floor

Solmum1964 · 02/07/2026 15:23

I stayed overnight with a friend when I was younger (1980s). In the morning everyone had a shower (a novelty as we only had a bath) and all the towels went in the tumble dryer afterwards.
I keep thinking about doing the same but the tumble dryer is in the garage at the bottom of the garden and towels usually dry quite quickly, either over the banisters or on the (heated) towel rail - on when the heating is on.
Bath/shower mats get hung over the rails supporting the shower screens.

Wannabegreenfingers · 02/07/2026 15:33

We keep them in the bedroom. I have long radiators so just tuck on a corner or on the back of the bedroom door. Tiny bathroom so we wouldn't get three bath towels in to dry.

GobletofFury · 02/07/2026 15:41

To all of the "straight in the washing basket" folks - leaving aside any environmental concerns about doing too much washing - you are putting wet towels in the laundry basket? How do they dry in a closed container? Don't they make everything else damp/fusty?

muddyford · 02/07/2026 15:44

Outside in the sunshine and breeze.

FunnyDeer · 02/07/2026 15:46

We hang them on hooks on bathroom Door and radiator

That would be such a wrong thing to do! Putting used items in the tumble dryer is not a good idea. Yuk.

Clip them onto hangers and hang up on a curtain rail, or outside if nice.

I have an over door hanger for the bathroom, my husband likes to fold up the wet towels and hang them on the bannister that often results in me standing at the top of the stairs shouting "husband! What happenes if we fold up wet towels?" "That's right they grow mould!"

You need to move past this!

ask him what happens next....

the footings for a new patio get dug! He gets pushed in & the concrete gets poured! That's what !!

We have a heated towel rail but we choose not to have in on summer and it doesnt fit all of our towels anyway…

I suggested hooks on backs of doors to DH but he insists its not efficient for drying them properly and I’m inclined to agree.

I think ultimately we just need to be more disciplined about returning them to the bathroom once they are dry instead of leaving them on the bannisters all the time as if they are a design choice.

Edited

I dry 3 towels on my heated towel rail. They're Golders lengthwise & fit accrues the HTR.

it's not on in the Warner months. It comes in with the heating, but they dry in there anyway.

In your situation I'd put 2 on the HTR & put a rail (not hook) on the back of bedroom doors.

FieldsOfFields · 02/07/2026 16:19

We have a dual fuel heated towel rail, it is on a timer for summer so the towels all dry. If you cannot fit them all on the radiator you can buy hooks that slot over the rails and hang your towels on those.

Or over the door hooks on the bathroom door.

A suggestion? Use a flannel after the shower to remove as much water droplets as possible so you are fairly dry before you use your normal towel. We used to do this as students.

They've only been used to dry clean bodies so I can't really see an issue.
Most of the time there's only myself and DH here so if the boiler broke in winter, and the towels weren't drying inside, then yes I think I would do this.

MyMilchick · 02/07/2026 16:32

One on a radiator and the other hung over a free standing mirror (cosy also :p )

WhisperingHi · 02/07/2026 16:33

We share towels, so only have 1 or 2 on the go at any time. We hang it on the heated towel rail after use.

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 02/07/2026 16:34

Cosy house here too. I got a ladder radiator fitted on the wall of the bathroom so that’s where the towels live!

Straight in the washing machine.

Me too. I wash my son's work wear every day so just put them in with it.
