And btw I have just recalled a post where one of the supporters of mass immigration for unchecked men, said don't worry, your teenage daughters can just walk a different route. And not walk past the bad men in the men's asylum seeker housing.

So yes. What the actual fck? That said it all.

Of course not. Intimidating Jewish families is disgusting.

But that reach was impressive. Well done.

How was that a reach though?

The ‘pro Pal’, Green, ‘open borders’ left are the same people being horrendously anti semitic and intimidating Jewish people.

Are you suggesting that some of us are government thought police?🤪

It has also been claimed that the unit intervenes to write statements by the families of victims of potentially racially linked incidents to stop them from inflaming tensions further with their remarks

The source said: 'You can see their fingerprints all over the statements released by the families of victims in these volatile situations – they usually have a similar tone

A poster on here who has personal experience of putting out such a statement has said this is bollocks on a thread asking about this issue.

Must be bollocks then.

That's for the home office to work out.

It’s not possible, Sudan is a conflict zone. There’s no way to know who has committed violence before arriving.

Ah, slapping women is fine as long as the man doing it shares your values.

Wouldn't hurt a fly indeed.

Who has said slapping women is fine! No one on here. But you are targeting all anti immigration protesters as being the same as that one aggressive man. Which isn't true.

I thought we weren't making generalisations about groups of people.

5MinuteArgument · 14/06/2026 17:44

southerngirl10 · 14/06/2026 16:51

I think Brighton should heed the warning these protestors have been trying to alert them to. A lot of them are peaceful, non-Tommy Robinson types who live in areas where asylum seekers and refugees have been forced onto them. Unlike Brighton and Hove where there would be uproar if they should suddenly see the same quota.

The protestors are sending a more affluent part of the world a message - I think Brighton (and Hove actually) would do well to listen to it.

Yes, the places where the govt are currently sending asylum seekers to are places like Bolton, where housing is cheap.

It's not fair that people in safe better off neighbourhoods are bleating about how we need to welcome refugees when they know the 'we' they are talking about is someone else, not them or their family.

Tbh I would believe an anonymous mumsnetter over the Daily Mail in many cases. I am sure Henry Nowak's dad would be pleased to read the Mail is claiming his words weren't really his. It is pretty disrespectful of a grieving man who has behaved with such courage and dignity.

I was at the counter protest in Belfast. There were Jewish men and women alongside us.

Were there really? I've seen this argument before. That makes anti-semitism ok then.

Yes, their solution is to let them in. In fact they want to speed up the process and clear the backlog of asylum claims. Expect lots of rubber stamping.

Northermcharn · 14/06/2026 17:14

No it's not mostly locals - its mostly the students. And they'd all have moved on leaving crap in their wake. As I said above most Brighton locals don' seem to agree with the ongoing protest by students and the unemployed.

We’ve had similar happen in our town. We also have a migrant hotel in the town centre

Yeah. They should use Soho Farm house in Oxfordshire. Loads of land. Be perfect. Ready to move in.

The Cotswold villages - loads of places to build cheap housing blocks on the outskirts.

Of course his words were guided. Take any parent in a vulnerable state and coax them into calling for calm.its happened under Tory governments as well. It gives politicians the leverage they need to fight off opposition. All the time, the parents have still unnecessarily lost their children through failed government policies.

There’s a few takers on here.

southerngirl10 · 14/06/2026 17:30

Where do you get the notion they are 'thugs'. From what I saw, the lefties were doing more of the thuggery. Why do thugs and anti-immigration go together. Most anti-immigrants I know wouldn't hurt a fly. Some people I know who are 'for' immigrants coming into our country by the hundreds of thousands are arrogant and aggressive. Lets be careful who we attach words to, sometimes the myth doesn't become the fact.

Why are the “lefties” never arrested then? Don’t tell me, let me guess - two tier policing? Why was a “leftie” demonstration attended by 20,000 people in Belfast yesterday entirely peaceful?

ilovebrie8 · 14/06/2026 17:56

Theworldsgonemadagain · 13/06/2026 21:05

Shes right, those pink and green haired nuts are wanting migrants to come, most of the rest of the country don't so yes send them where they are wanted. Not sure many of the men coming off the boats really care about women's rights so will fit in well in Brighton where they don't know the difference between a man and a woman and think it's OK for a man to enter women's changing rooms. A match made in heaven. Put all the nut cases together a win for the rest of us.

Agree 👏.
Brighton is so welcoming then best they take the lion’s share.
Time to write to our local MP’s about this.

It's wonderful.

I would love to hear from all the posters that were sympathising with the rioters in Belfast, who were apparently just "demonstrating their anger at the situation"

It must be embarrassing to see the majority disagree, and that's why some of the posts on this thread are so very angry. Grin

I'm scundered for ya's.

Not at all embarrassing. Mumsnet has always been politically liberal-left. The really surprising thing is that not everyone here is of that mindset.

It's a sign that the Overton Window has shifted and more and more people are starting to question the 'refugees welcome' mantra and are thinking about the impact on ordinary people.

Did you observe PPs use of the word ‘most’?

Now you are taking one alleged incident and using it to smear everyone with concerns about immigration.

In the same way an earlier post attempted to smear all people with concerns about immigration as arsonists, and thugs.

Can you see how this inflames the situation and makes sensible conversation impossible?

CornishDaughteroftheDawn · 14/06/2026 18:10

PinkandPerky · 14/06/2026 17:35

Anyhow, to be 'anti-immigration' is just a ridiculous and xenophobic stance which is divisive, terrifying to all law abiding newcomers to our country and frankly a very narrow minded way of looking at a very complex situation.

I would be much more understanding if people were non-violently marching, on Whitehall, for a 'change in policy for more effective and quicker screening, adequate and effective support for refugees to deal with the trauma they had suffered and a government funded training and work programme to ensure newcomers could contribute meaningfully to society'.

Now that I could get on board with.

'Anti-immigration' is just simple minded nonsense.

Our first challenge is getting the government to acknowledge that they have brought in millions of extra people with totally inadequate support and low expectations for them to assimilate, learn English, abide by the law and be able to make a meaningful contribution to Britain.

They also need to acknowledge their part in causing division and tension by mandating two tier policing (in the police guidance) and the serious harms perpetrated on British citizens as a result.

Supposing they reach that basic level of enlightenment, we can then consider putting forward your march proposal which on the surface sounds good, but with our vastly overstretched NHS and m/h services, border/immigration services and judicial system required to deal with appeals from rapists we’ve tried to deport, how realistic do you think it is?

Yes, agreed. It's fine for greiveing families to call for calm. But it's not OK for the govt to use that to shut down debate, which is what's happening. They need to address the causes of the unrest. Otherwise, we'll just get more and more of it.

PinkandPerky · 14/06/2026 18:11

Yes it’s not using the system we have. That’s what people are talking about.

'Anti-immigration' is not the same as 'improving the system so that it works better'.

People on 'anti-immigration' protests want all immigration to stop, full stop. They are not asking for improvements to systems. They are demanding all immigration is stopped and all asylum seekers immediately deported. They want hotels closed down and asylum seekers driven out their town, their country. They want them gone.

It's very simple minded.

Its not simple minded. We have voted for years to stop mass immigration. People are fed up of being ignored and being called racist.

TheLandlordsAreFrowning · 14/06/2026 12:53

it is such a white place

Is it? Not according to zB&H council stats:

More than a quarter of our residents (26%) are Black and Racially Minoritised (non White UK/British). This is compared to 21% across the South East and 27% across England.

While the overall population of the city has increased by 1%, the number of Black and Racially Minoritised residents has increased by 35% since the last Census. An increase from 53,251 residents in 2011 to 72,272 residents in 2021.

Your quoted stats include over 30,000 people in other white and Irish categories.

The wider white category, which includes Irish, gypsy, traveller or Roma and other white ethnicities, accounts for 85.4 per cent of Brighton and Hove residents (236,571 people).
