Do you actually want to stop him from speaking? That's a shame because his 2014 speech was excellent

I say that as someone who cannot stand the man, but I do believe in playing the ball, not the man

Anyway, I think he's going to be stopped from giving that speech one way or another. Especially under the current regime, they'll decide its breach of the peace or something.

The really sad thing is that we haven't learned anything in the last 12 years. Well, ordinary people have, but politicians refuse to do anything about it.

Which parts of his speech did you find excellent and why, if you don't mind me asking?

Its a fallacious claim made by a poster who wanted to stick her nose in the air and pretend to have scored some kind of victory and it deserved to be refuted.

It was sarcasm.

It was a lie, and this follow up post is another.

Are there any UK citizens as keen on the smell of their own farts as Brightonians?

Did you only hone on the one part of this, really?

And the comments, yes, builders were known for it. Still happens apparently though it's a lot less than when I was in my teens. Started when I reached puberty, about 12 when I got tits. I hated hated walking past a building site, any building site.

There's a big difference though between 'wolf whistling' and making comments and actually approaching teenagers and touching them so you should be clear in what you post.

You should perhaps use your noggin and worked it out?
And yes, builders would approach. I personally never have been touched by one of them but had lads come up to me.

Ten thousand were deported last year.

They were turned down for asylum and asked to leave. Most just disappeared with the uk. Very very few were deported.

Ok, lets just say you intentionally mis-represented your opponents' position and leave it at that if you like. It doesn't quite stack up if you look at the quote history but whatever.

Some also got money to leave,

Not really. Have you read it?
There's a lot of unknowns on there. 'likely' to be foreign nationals. Doesn't mean they are! There's a reason that this 'think tank' requested and pushed this particular set of data.
The guy is anti immigration. Makes his argument look ok doesn't it?

No, they were deported. Or as the Home Office puts it enforced returns.

Brighton and Hove hosts a relatively small population of supported asylum seekers, estimated at roughly 170 to 200 individuals at any one time, which is significantly lower than the national average and concentrated hotspots across the UK. [Brighton & Hove City Council]

Ffs! No wonder the happy clappy brigade are all for unrestricted immigration! Not in my back yard Jack!

Here's your source, it comes from a FoI request to the Ministry of Justice : https://dailysceptic.org/2025/03/10/foreigners-convicted-of-nearly-a-quarter-of-uk-sex-crimes/

I am pretty sure Bates' work has been debunked.

Which parts of his speech did you find excellent and why, if you don't mind me asking?

I'm afraid 12 years later I can't really remember parts of the speech!

He talked a lot about different types and he's pretty hot on religious texts

His delivery wasn't brilliant, but he was obviously very nervous and I'm sure he'll be a lot better now.

He had a lot of documentary evidence from a documentary that the BBC showed, wait I remember Stacey Dooley was presenting it - and generally there was a lot of explanation about how he felt things were going to go. And he was right.

Anyway, I lost friends in a terror attack so that's why I watched his talk when I could. I felt that there are threats to the nation which are not being taken seriously enough by the government. And it's personal from my perspective.

And over the years, the number of people who have experienced personal bereavement due to some of our crazy policies has gone up a lot. (I really hope
Siobhan Whyte didn't have too bad time in Brighton today).

They are actively working against the safety and security of their citizens, particularly women. They welcome strangers of all kinds for all reasons. They roll out a red carpet for them. Many people make money out of that situation, whether it's providing accommodation or lawyers or interpreters

That is no way to run a country.

It doesn't quite resolve it for me, there's still the cost of several billion pounds per year in perpetuity at a time when the cost of living is awful and the tax burden and national debt levels are at record highs. The people of Brighton should fund the expenditure too.

Then we have got the thicko ed milliband who believs his net 0 will solve everything chucking up more windfarms. The grid is full at the moment that turbines need to be turned off and he wants more. When the grid is off our bills go up , I think he seems to think the opposite.
