It’s grotesque

The usual MN jealousy when someone does well. As a PP pointed out he was rich and a lot of people would just retire and have fun but he chooses to work most days and have innovative ideas and he employs lots of people too. He might donate to charity but not overtly. He has 14 children to pass his wealth on to.

It's not an issue that he's "done well" but he's pushed racist shit on Twitter like the great replacement theory, he's promoting vile hatred on it.

He's made a fortune and using it push a horrific agenda.

He's a blight upon humanity. Look at how his Doge initiative has directly caused the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people, mostly children, by decimating USAID

If you praise or celebrate him, then you're celebrating the deaths of children.

Just keep licking his boots.

He's a vile wanker who is pushing white supremacy on Twitter.

He's a pathetic joke of a man. A man with almost unlimited riches on a world blighted by poverty. Poverty he could alleviate without affecting his own lifestyle at all.

He's a waste of skin and dna

Most people living in poverty (and I mean real poverty, not someone in the UK who might have to forego ‘wants’ and not ‘needs’) live in countries where their regimes keep the countries resources/finances to themselves, and place their people into poverty.

And? Your point being?

The USAID cuts championed by Musk have caused hundreds of thousands of deaths. And you're trying to deflect from that. Why?

Over £30billion contributed via USAID in 2025. Which is still a lot more money compared to contributions to foreign aid made by other wealthy countries.

Just think of the good that could be done with that. Let’s hope he does.

Nah, he won't.

He will just spaff it all into the space race

So you're defending the needless deaths of children.

Is this really how you want to spend your time?

ThatFairy · Today 00:32

There's a difference between racism and commenting on the fact that 1 in 5 people in England are not English

Trayfevers · Today 00:41

It’s just all on paper though isn’t it?! I’m sure when the AI bubble and all the hype bursts he’ll be worth less. That’s said, I doubt he’s having to switch his shop to Lidl!

No, I’m saying maybe it’s time for other countries to step up. Most countries give barely anything in foreign aid, yet a country who donates billions is slated because they reduce their contribution? Maybe they’re just fed up of picking up the slack for those countries who prioritise other stuff, like increased Welfare for the feckless who wouldn’t know real poverty if it hit them on the head. I don’t think the UK btw should increase foreign aid, but just putting into context that different countries have different priorities, and as we are currently struggling to raise funds to defend our country, I’m not sure it would go down well with the public to send money abroad..

Question: do you think Musk's Doge did the right thing with USAID? Considering the deaths it caused. Hundreds of thousands, mostly children.

Do you think a good person could live with that on their concience?

You think people in developed western nations don't know real poverty ?

Whatwerewetalkingabout · Today 01:01

Basically in a world where children starve to death through poverty and there is even extreme poverty and deprivation in his own adopted first world country, billionaires and trillionaires should not be permitted to exist, they should be taxed and asset stripped out of existence, they can get by as mere multi millionaires.

We as a human race need to get our bloody skulls around the fact that noone should starve to death in a world of plenty, the world shouldn't burn because some people want to overstuff their already humoungous wallets! After everyone's basic needs are met then we can discuss having billionaires.

Also I do not like the fact it gives a single person the power to buy political power and propaganda tools to prop up their own existence at the expense of humanity. (For example Musk's climate change credentials are absolute greenwashed BS and he literally bankrolls some of the most dangerous, fascist political parties on Earth)

The vast majority in developed Western nations don’t know real poverty. Those who do invariably live in certain US states. The ones I have personal experience of include Mississippi, Louisiana, Tennessee, Alabama, West Virginia (as well as Western Virginia).

It has to be seen to be believed. It really is a different world, it truly is. I was so shocked by the things I saw - the shacks in which people lived, children in dirty, torn clothing, people doing their food shopping at gas station convenience stores where the only fresh food consisted of a couple of brown bananas and tired apples - and bagels and donuts.

Meeting a dentist at a BBQ who volunteered at a yearly event where people without insurance could get their teeth fixed for free. He said they would start lining up as much as 24 hours before they opened.

Buying power isn't leadership, it's dictatorial!

I would actually say under conservatives it was quite common for people to starve and even more common not to be able to afford clothing

Sadly it seems a great many people on mumsnet would be quite happy for the UK to suffer this.

Well, the undeserving poor, that is. We've already had mention of the 'feckless' on this thread. As if these are the two archetypes left in this polarised world: the trillionaire techbro and feckless bob who likes racing his pet ferrets.

No matter what he might have 'achieved' the guy is a total arse. Just goes to show, all the money in the world cannot make someone a nice person.

It's disgusting. Where's robin hood when you need him.
It has been far too easy for him to make money and far to easy for 80% of rest of the world to be poorer. Each one of his dollars is paid for by increasing prices for everyone else in one way or another. He's just collecting numbers now.

Why has it been easy for him? If it was that easy surely there would be more people like him and more billionaires?

it’s not his fault there are poor people in the world.

I don’t think he’s literally got £1 billion in his bank account it will be tied up in companies, stocks etc

keepswimming38 · Today 02:53

He’s a vile odious and repulsive man. He’s obtained wealth but has no conscience. I hope some of his many children grow up to be better human beings.

So let's assume that he's an investor not an investor. Tesla or SpaceX would never have happened without his investments.

Honestly it seems like the left would happily have no technology progres, no economic growth and live in the Middle Ages it it prevented successful investors, investors or businesses getting rich on taking investment risks.

I believe that they would have succeeded without him. Also, Teslas aren't all that. They're tacky and plasticky, especially considering the price. Additionally, I don't think that the achievements of a company such as Space X are genuinely necessary. I'd forego them if it meant that one of the most repugnant people on the planet who is intent on destroying democracies and stirring up race hatred wasn't made the richest person on the planet. What use is going to Mars if we Earth is in tatters?

It's not jealousy. He's clearly a bitter and twisted individual who is DEEPLY unhappy and a ketamine addict to boot - who in their right mind would actually want to be him? Also you say he works hard, doing what shit posting and stirring up racial hatred on X all day? Give over. The man wouldn't piss on you if you were on fire. Stop licking his backside.

What a stupid comment.

Just ask anyone who deals with the administration of benefits in the UK or with parents at schools in less advantaged areas. Anyone doing those jobs knows that there are a LOT of feckless workshy avoidant people out there.

That is not to say everyone on benefits is feckless, not even a majority, but anyone dealing face to face with people in these circumstances knows it is a significant minority.
