Fed up with colleague rimming this down my throat?

Glasgowrache · Yesterday 18:48

I’ve a colleague who I get along with at work, we chat and know a reasonable amount about each other.

She has dated a few people over the past year of two, she’s currently seeing someone who is getting divorced. It seems to be getting a bit serious in her words (only been a few weeks) and they’ve discussed buying a house down the line.

He has a very well paying job and she has said they’ll either be able to buy somewhere and be Mortgage free, or buy a big house in a great area which she never thought she’d be able to live in. Great, I do want her to be happy.

My ‘AIBU’ is whether I am wrong to feel fed up with her mentioning his wealth at every opportunity, and how she could never dream of ‘being mortgage free at her age’. It is starting to feel gloaty now…

Next time she starts talking about it show her this thread, it will quickly shut her up with all the rimming content.

This have given me a right laugh tonight. Brilliant

Grin Rimming?

All I thought of was THIS guy, from Red Dwarf. I wasn't thinking of what you lot of mucky feckers were thinking about! Then again, I couldn't have been thinking the same as you lot, because I don't know what you were thinking about ..... Coz I'm not a mucky fecker....😆

I've stopped making sense now! 😂

Its insecurity, she probably feels slightly less than in some way. Hence having to big it all up. Either be mature, smile and coo admiringly OR have some fun with it by sending links to really expensive houses "you think she should would like and should book to view" and watch her squirm re her plans which only exist in her head.

You need to order some HelloFresh.

lol 😀

Kuga26 · Yesterday 21:53

@Glasgowrache he’s not even divorced yet and when he is, he’s hardly going to tie himself down straight away to a woman he’s only just met. I guessing he’s playing the wealth card to get her in the sack and she’s falling for it, hook, line and sinker.

The only reason this man may stay with her is if she’s 20 years younger than him, then he’ll feel like the cat that’s got the cream. A symbiotic (transactional in this case) relationship.

Love this idea!

@Glasgowrache do this, give your friend some help / support with her house hunting! 😂

There was a dreadful rimming problem at our workplace. They had to instigate a stay seated as much as possible policy until the offender was caught. A difficult time.

Motuihe · Yesterday 22:02

Maybe doing the first verb in your title is what gets a girl mortgage free these days...I might give it a go!!

Yes it is gloaty...clap back with some of your gloaty stuff. WHy not

Pessismistic · Yesterday 22:06

Hi op I would just say you sound more into his money than him then laugh say his divorce might cause him to be skint you might want to wait and see how that goes first before committing.

Smile and drink your coffee.
she has only known him a few weeks and he is probably embellishing his wealth to sound great. It’s also highly unlikely he is going to put her name on the deeds if it’s his money buying the house, sounds like she is caught up in the fantasy.

Yup! I’d feel pity for someone who is planning a future after a few weeks with an as yet undivorced, allegedly wealthy man, who will likely be less wealthy post divorce, and even less likely to let someone else get their hands on his remaining cash 😂

StephensLass1977 · Yesterday 22:26

Yeah he's not buying her a mansion in Surrey or whatever on the strength of a few weeks worth of dating.

I mean, these things CAN work out. My SIL married rich, and she never thought in her wildest dreams that she'd have the life she's living now. Huge house in a really posh part of the North East, never needs to work again, been on three holidays this year already (she could never afford to go away before she met him) facial treatments all the time, and is really just a lady of leisure.

But your colleague is really jumping the gun.

Rubbleonthedouble2 · Yesterday 22:26

Ah he's probably future faking her. Poor thing.

Absolutely howling at your title though! Got me to click hahaha

PullTheBricksDown · Yesterday 22:34

@Zov you've nailed the Rimm*r references. Smeghead!

It seems to be getting a bit serious in her words (only been a few weeks) and they’ve discussed buying a house down the line.

OP, wait it out and much soap style entertainment will come your way when this starts getting more complicated, as it will. Teens, divorce, house buying? <rubs hands> For now try and stick to the reliable Sybill Fawlty method
