Fed up with colleague rimming this down my throat?

I’ve a colleague who I get along with at work, we chat and know a reasonable amount about each other.

She has dated a few people over the past year of two, she’s currently seeing someone who is getting divorced. It seems to be getting a bit serious in her words (only been a few weeks) and they’ve discussed buying a house down the line.

He has a very well paying job and she has said they’ll either be able to buy somewhere and be Mortgage free, or buy a big house in a great area which she never thought she’d be able to live in. Great, I do want her to be happy.

My ‘AIBU’ is whether I am wrong to feel fed up with her mentioning his wealth at every opportunity, and how she could never dream of ‘being mortgage free at her age’. It is starting to feel gloaty now…

People who have to get rimmed at work have earned a super rich man as compensation.

She seems just as into it to be honest, making all these grand plans etc. I don’t think she realises it won’t all be plain sailing with him having a couple of teenagers and not always able to be free every weekend. I haven’t said that to her of course.

Oh, he's got teenagers and isn't divorced yet? It gets better! How fucking awful. 🤣

I'd feel sorry for her rather than anything else. OP. His life sounds like it's in the complete-mess stage. Would be different if the divorce had been settled 2-3 years ago and the kids were out of their teens.

No wonder this made trending.

That's some job. There's rimming and ramming going on. Hope it's behind closed doors

Lecruesetisntright · Yesterday 19:42

I had a great like this. Brought up her partners salary at every opportunity, brought up the price of the house they were buying etc. Became wearing very quickly.

I was fortunate that I had a particular way I could deal with it - invited her round to my house. It was clear that my house was worth more than hers. She had the audacity to ask how much DH earned (I'd never disclosed either of our salaries to her).

Like I say. I used to have a friend like that. Harder to get rid of when it's a colleague. But you have my sympathy, it's really annoying.

Just nod and let her go on. Her bubble will burst soon enough. Start a bet without yourself when it will all go wrong.
she’s currently seeing someone who is getting divorced - My first thought was; Does his wife know?

I’m clutching my pearls at that thread title.

Just be thankful a pearl necklace isn't involved before/after or instead of the rimming

Naurrr · Yesterday 19:45

Don't listen to drivel conversations at work, just say 'how lovely' and be too busy to hang about

Moonformonday · Yesterday 19:45

Check your contract OP, I’m pretty sure that’s illegal in this country.

Just smile and nod. She's rich in oxytocin and dating a man who needs a distraction from a divorce.

She’s doing what to you at work??

🤣🤣🤣

EmeraldShamrock000 · Yesterday 19:47

It won’t last. He won’t be foolish coming out of a divorce, sounds like he is sweet talking her to suit his needs.

DavidStopActingLikeADisgruntledPelican · Yesterday 19:53

Ugh I hate when my colleagues insist on rimming at work.

That aside, he’s probably love bombing her. The realist/cynic in me assumes they’re basically doomed. But tbh she sounds as shallow as a puddle so it’s no great tragedy.

Ear buds even if you aren’t listening to anything and no eye contact

Yikes, that would be very unpleasant. Have a chat with HR 😂

it does depend on how OP feels about rimming tho doesn't it 😅

That was my first thought, wonder if there is an age gap when teenage children were mentioned.

The kind of man who dumps every woman once they get to 40, rinse and repeat.

SurferRona · Yesterday 20:01

Brilliant OP 😆😂😆😂

@Two2TooAlsoToToward re 🤢💩, that’s why a soapy hot shower and a scrub-a-dub is a prerequisite. So I am told!

I had to Google that one

Beigepjs · Yesterday 20:07

Explain to her the terms "free skivvy aupair" and "free nanny with a fanny".

It might give her pause🙄

Lifeomars · Yesterday 20:10

Well the thread title sucked me in so to speak...

AHalfling · Yesterday 20:12

She sounds desperately naive. It's unlikely he's going to handover 50% of the mortgage free house to her.
