As my post says, this was a colleague from only a couple of years ago (might have been less than that). I agree after 10 years, I might well not expect to recognise someone.

I don't know. In what way? Facial or body?

I've lost that much (possibly more) but haven't really ever asked anyone how different I looked between then and now.

This poster does this alllll the time, if you look out for it you'll start to see it. They change name, post a question in the title with the most vague opening post and then never come back. Then they'll do it again 5 minutes later about something else

Of course but it means that they were likely to have been very, very overweight and mentioning it refers to that.

Blimey, that’s not far off double what I weigh - so yes, it’s a massive amount and I’d expect them to look very different.

I’ve had this experience and it’s kind of great, I’m 10 stone lighter now and last couple of days have been at an expo where I was able to walk past people I previously knew without them recognising me.

I had a feeling when I read the very short opening post yesterday, that the poster wouldn’t be back, so I didn’t bother contributing. Such a waste of people’s time. I hardly ever comment now, unless the OP has been back. But that means one or more other poor sods trying to interact with them first. Ah well, I suppose that’s chat forums for you!

Depends where you've lost it from - I've lost 7 - I didn't notice the change for the first few stones (as they went from my arse and I don't spend much time looking at that), but then I suddenly lost a chunk from my face and fucking hell, I still do a double take at myself in the mirror sometimes, and people I've known previously have completely not recognised me until I've started speaking to my kids and they've recognised the kids first.

Yes of course. A friend of mine lost a huge amount after gastric surgery, although I don't actually know how much, and she had people passing her in the street and not recognising her at all, or she would speak to them and they would look puzzled.
