Really? She lived with this guy and didn't know? She had a camper van parked on the drive and didn't know he stole the money to buy it?

I don't buy it.

Why did it take so long to realise?

I read it had been happening since 2010 - surely it was being audited regularly.

As for Nicola Sturgeon - awful woman.

The police statement said 2010-2022

The sole focus being on what NS knew or didn’t is covering the questions surrounding long periods of time where we have no idea what happened.

We know part of the finance and audit committee, and the professional auditors, quit after the journalist raised questions, but what about the 10ish years before that?

Sturgeon is lying, and everyone knows she’s lying.

Nobody gets home one evening to find a huge £125k mobile home & an electric Jaguar SUV have appeared outside their house without querying it. The police either couldn’t find any hard evidence that she knew where the money came from (presumably because they destroyed the evidence) or her friends in government applied enough pressure on the police that they didn’t look too hard for the evidence.

The whole affair sounds corrupt. What about the auditors. They resigned in 2023 I think. And didn't NS say at some meeting nobody is to ask any questions about finances. Why not? Can't believe she has got away with it. But I reckon the powers that be don't want the whole thing exposed because it would probably mean the end of the SNP.

Going to go against the grain here and say I wouldn't know if DH had £400k stashed in his own account. Obviously I'd notice the motor home, but I am assuming he had a large salary of his own and if he wanted to splash out, he could do it without suspicion.

Three members of the SNP finance and audit committee resigned in protest because they were refused access to the books. Sturgeon told the leadership committee to stop asking questions about the finances. (2023)

Of course she didn’t. No one ever questioned where their spouse’s sudden wealth appeared from. 🙄

Greenwitchart · Yesterday 07:36

Surely that is a matter for the police to investigate, not for public opinion to decide that she is guilty...

There are women who lived alongside men who were up to no good (from cheats to serial killers) and had no idea of what they were up to so I reserve judgement until I see evidence.

If she was an accomplice then of course she should face justice.

Apparently when she was interviewed by the police she turned her chair round so she was facing the wall and had her back to the officers and sat in silence.

wellnotexactly · Yesterday 07:38

I’m surprised she hasn’t blamed it on Westminster yet

I have been saying since she first came on to the scene that she was corrupt but no one believed me. So pleased I don’t live in Scotland now with the SNP. They are not to be trusted

How the fuck can a pencil sharpener cost £110?!

He went to WH Smith’s instead of the works.

What a shame, such a betrayal of the Scottish people. Imagine if you'd donated to the Party, only to think Murrell spent it on a coffee machine or fountain pen.

Thing is... years ago, in about 2015, I was visiting a Scottish friend and he told me that Ian Murray was very corrupt and there were lots of questions about big amounts of SNP money disappearing into the Murray coffers. So if I, an ordinary Gingercat from London, who only spent a couple of days purring in Scotland, had heard about it, I don't believe she hadn't. Someone would have warned her...

Ian Murray is a Labour MP in Edinburgh, with a good reputation, no connection with SNP

You were misinformed

Sheldonsheher · Yesterday 07:47

Convient they wait till after the referendum to convict him. And the SNP still voted in it’s unbelievable. They impose the highest tax in uk saying higher earners won’t even notice the extra hundreds in tax a month! While SNP leaders stealing money for lavish lifestyle it’s unbelievable.

Sheldonsheher · Yesterday 07:51

Also 2million tax payers money wasted to investigate, then he pleads guilty Nicola gets off!

Boneheads vote them in, every time.

The majority don't. Most vote for opposition parties, but it's split between them and the SNP wins because of that.

'buying two of its Feasting Advent calendars for £400 and a Musical Santa’s Sleigh Advent calendar at £165'

Greedy sod! No doubt one of them was in the house which he shared with Nicola Sturgeon.

Imagine them stuffing themselves chuckling about the fools that donated money.

Packetofcrispsplease · Yesterday 08:06

Dislike “ Wee Nippy “ but she’s a perfectly intelligent woman .
there is no way she didn’t know about this .

Amberlynnswashcloth · Yesterday 08:07

Yes it's quite bizarre isn't it especially all the instant coffee and gaming paraphernalia. I imagine these small items were chosen because he didn't think anyone would question it (new pen, bulk buy coffee). He could have told her he treated himself to the campervan out of his own savings. For her, it could have been a gradual realisation rather than her being in on it all along. Obviously she came to find out hense her stepping down and distancing herself from him immediately before all this went public. How embarrassing for her and what a massive bettayal if she had nothing to do with it.

Alexandra2001 · Yesterday 08:07

So many people enter Politics with modest savings and lifestyles yet within years are extremely wealthy.

But the Police cleared Sturgeon and the SNPs treasurer, so if Sturgeon is guilty and its so obvious, then the only conclusion is the Police are corrupt too, along with the entire justice system as the verdict given AFTER elections
