It wasn't planned, he didn't mean it. Seriously, what did he think would happen if he hit a police woman with a sledgehammer!

Remember the man that hit a policewoman with a sledgehammer breaking her spine?

"Corner was also found guilty of inflicting grievous bodily harm after striking Sgt Kate Evans twice with a sledgehammer, fracturing her spine. He was cleared of the more serious offence of causing grievous bodily harm with intent."

"Corner had told the court he "would never want to seriously hurt anyone" and he denied using violence against people during the raid was planned."

It wasn't planned, he didn't mean it.

I saw this on the news last night.

I know I wasn't in court so didn't hear every detail, but, with the video evidence it does seem unbelievable he was convicted. What did he think would happen when he hit a person's spine with a sledge hammer ?

In a statement released after the verdicts, Avon and Somerset Police Federation chairman Tom Gent described Corner's actions as "pure evil", adding that "fracturing a brave police officer's spine with a sledgehammer is not protesting a cause".

He said peaceful protest was "a cornerstone of our democracy" but added: "This wasn't protest. This was violent and deliberate thuggery that has had devastating consequences for a courageous and dedicated police officer."

I agree with the police. These violent thugs think they are right. They (not sledgehammer man) said:

"In the final stages of the case, all the defendants except Corner parted from their lawyers to address the jury directly.

Each said they stood by their actions - insisting the crime was justified - and urged jurors to clear them of criminal damage.

Rogers said: "I can say with absolute certainty that this is the best thing I have ever done.

"There is a good chance that because of our actions that night, innocent lives were saved.

"So I will never be ashamed that I was on trial, that I have spent 18 months in prison, that I may face many more."

Oh yes, the poor guy. How was he to know hitting someone with a sledgehammer could have such serious consequences?

He's a fucking insincere moron, and I think it's disgraceful that so many people have been defending and justifying his actions. They should all be ashamed of themselves.

He broke her spine. Apparently he thought the others, who were also wielding sledgehammers, were in danger, from a policewoman, who was unarmed, so whacked her with his sledgehammer! Unreal. Vile individuals.

How on earth can anyone justify what he did. Vile behaviour. My sympathy is with the policewoman.

It comes to something when people condone violence in our society.

Should be triple the sentence for doing that to a police woman. A disgrace

AnticsNShenanigans · 06/05/2026 23:13

I thought this exactly when i saw this on the news. Outrageous. You hit someone with a sledgehammer, youre going to do some serious damage. But you knew that, you violent arsehole!

Humdingerydoo · 06/05/2026 23:18

What I'm finding most astounding is the overlap between people who are vocally supportive of someone who injured an unnamed police with a sledgehammer and people critical of the unarmed police last week in Golders Green. The same people are somehow defending both sledgehammer guy and the stabby terrorist?! Surely, if they were even remotely consistent, they'd be supportive of the police action in Golders? Or alternatively would want sledgehammer guy locked up?

This complete lack of any kind of rationality is what happens when your ideology becomes your whole personality. It's very, very dangerous.

Apparently the silly billy didn't realise that he might hurt someone, the wet lettuce thought his friends, also armed with sledgehammers, might be in danger, so he whacked a women with his sledgehammer.

What sort of big brave man hits a woman with a sledgehammer twice, once whilst on the floor. A Palestine action hero thats what he thinks he is. What a cowardly, snivelling twat.

I know this is news from today/yesterday, but wasn’t it in court a few months ago? Or was that other people who were present but not this specific man?

Strange isn't it. Ok for a man to whack a unarmed policewoman with a sledgehammer, but not ok to kick a violent man, who had just stabbed 3 people and was still armed with his knife.

Interesting times.

There must be better ways of helping the people they say they want to help, fundraising perhaps, no, they select violence as the way to 'help'.

exactly,

They seem completely indoctrinated, they even said they didn't regret violent action and would do again.

"In the final stages of the case, all the defendants except Corner parted from their lawyers to address the jury directly.

The best thing one of them had ever done.

Maybe, fundraisers or orher things to help. What had that poor policewoman done, to deserve that. Their ideology has turned them into violent thugs.

No inconsistency. They hate the police.

Cocktailglass · 06/05/2026 23:44

You pick up a sledge hammer and hit someone with it, undeniably intent to cause GBH at the least!

'Just because' it was PO doing her job, which she does as a vocation to help people, earn money to support her family, is a disgusting excuse.

Of course the Police know the risks amd have back up, so same Police who back up endangering their lives

The job may well be a choice but they should be paid much more as it's true front confrontation, not sitting im an office or even complaining about having to go back this secure environment after wfh.

How do you fundraise past a blockade?

Or are you unaware of the flotillas with baby food, medical supplies that keep being intercepted in international waters?

The people you quote as having no regrets were acquitted.

This was an attack on the property of an arms manufacturer. The videos show extreme violence directed to the saboteurs who then reacted in self defence in a completely chaotic situation (the jury did not convict at the first trial)....

I would look but you can too ...that the sledgehammer defendant has apologised saying he believed a woman protester was being badly assaulted.

Maybe follow what they are saying?

I don't know. Maybe if the Israelis stopped razing villages and killing men, women and children by the thousands, who were living peacefully in their own homelands, peacefully farming and trying to make a living, maybe that would lower anger levels all around. But what do I know, I'm not a politician.
