To think bad drivers will be driving...

ToastWithLimeMarmalade · 06/05/2026 07:19

... either:
A taxi
A BMW or Audi
A white car.

Often more than one of the above is true.

By "bad drivers" I mean arrogant, selfish, dangerous driving, not indicating, etc.

There is a special exception for "bad driving" specifically for those who apparently cannot use reverse gear. They don't fit the above pattern, but will be driving a large SUV they are incapable of reversing or parking sensibly. I encounter these frequently, living as I do in labyrinth of narrow terraced streets. These cars will be parked at odd angles, half in the road, or most likely encountered barrelling down a street you've just turned into, refusing to tuck into any spaces at the side so you can pass each other, especially if it involves reversing. Instead you are forced to reverse for miles/back into another road/onto a pavement.

Generally BMWs

GasperyJacquesRoberts · 06/05/2026 07:26

You missed white vans.

Simbaonedaythiswillallbeyours · 06/05/2026 07:27

I drive a lot around my local region for work and I agree.

I will also add:
SUV/truck drivers know full well that my Corsa wouldn't stand a chance against them in an accident and they would be unscathed so they just do as they please. Pull out on motorways, reverse out onto main roads and park like absolute tools.

Parents outside schools are another massive issue. Selfish and dangerous parking to make sure their child doesn't have to walk more than a few feet.

I was coming to say this. Any time I've had some impatient arsehole tailgating me and waving his arms around because I'm sticking to the speed limit, especially in a 20mph zone, it's invariably been a van driver.

tiramisugelato · 06/05/2026 07:30

I would add white vans and SUV’s that are driven by people who have never done more than the school run.

Hmm, perhaps they come under "white", although not a car!
Having said that, I haven't actually particularly encountered bad driving from them.
I wonder if it's area specific? - perhaps my part of the UK can be identified by my OP!

I’ve never seen a BMW driver that could actually drive

SpiceGirlsNeedAComeBack · 06/05/2026 07:32

Can I just say I drive a SUV and I’m a decent driver, I know if I crash into a smaller car they have no hope. In 20 years of driving ive never had so much as a speeding ticket let alone crash.
So let’s not tar everyone with the same brush.

disappearingme · 06/05/2026 07:35

I've noticed all apart from white cars. Is this a thing? Going to look out for it now!

MushMonster · 06/05/2026 07:35

Certainly, I agree on the reversing and "parking" (more like abandoning the car on the road... ) ability, particularly, on narrow roads 🤦‍♀️

aWeeCornishPastie · 06/05/2026 07:36

Parking outside the school on yellow zig zags was my absolute bug bear. I don’t get how those parents can be so selfish and lazy

TipsyLaird · 06/05/2026 07:36

BMWs used to be the worst drivers, definitely when I passed my test in the early 90s they were the ones not indicating, cutting you up, speeding or just being generally poor on the road. Audis now seem to be pushing to take that position.

Taxis have always been bad, minicabs though, not black taxis which are usually fine.

White vans rather than cars.

And Sunday drivers in a Kia Picanto or Honda Jazz who tootle along way under the speed limit, totally oblivious to everyone else on the road. The male drivers of those cars are usually wearing a flat cap.

ShowOfHands · 06/05/2026 07:38

White cars are the most popular car (cheaper) so it correlates that you'd see more of any type of driver in white cars rather than any other colour.

GloiredeDijon · 06/05/2026 07:39

BMW
White works van
”Hot” hatchback with visible changes like tinted windows etc

Then we have the morons on e-scooters

Myblueclematis · 06/05/2026 07:39

I drive a white car and certainly like to think I'm not a dreadful driver but I do agree with the OP it does seem to be the ones mentioned in the post plus the white van men who are the worst. Tailgating, hooting, arm waving, shouting, it's more frequent than it ever was.

I've noticed in the last ten years or so how drivers constantly tailgate you on ordinary roads even when there is traffic ahead of you and everyone is on the speed limit of 30 or 40 or whatever. No one can go any faster, it's baffling why they do it.

Are they just selfish inconsiderate morons or do a large amount of drivers need to have their eyes tested as they are so close at times they're almost in my boot?

Flamingojune · 06/05/2026 07:39

Ive always found taxis to be good drivers especially ubers

Don't worry - there are plenty of sensible SUV drivers.
It's the other way round - a bad driver will be driving XYZ type of vehicle, not that certain vehicles guarantee bad driving!

I think Audi drivers are fine…

Electricsausages · 06/05/2026 07:41

I’m sure the taxis round here share a license

MyOtherProfile · 06/05/2026 07:42

I would add Teslas. They're usually the worst IME.

Wolfpa · 06/05/2026 07:42

Don’t forget the fact that Tesla’s have been made without indicators.

ReignOfError · 06/05/2026 07:43

We have a white car and a BMW, so I’m off to renounce our driving licences.

It’ll be a relief not to have to outface all the moronic SUV drivers who are scared to move into a passing place/onto the verge in case they get mud on their pristine tyres.

Interesting! White cars should really be top of my list, it's the most common one I see from the list

I think BMW drivers in 1990s have been replaced with Tesla wankers drivers in 2020s

Myfridgeiscool · 06/05/2026 07:46

Round here it’s huge black Range Rovers/SUVs. Accelerating aggressively on our narrow roads. One hand on the steering wheel, trying to look stylish with their other arm draped.
Can I add them to your list please?
