To think bad drivers will be driving...

... either:
A taxi
A BMW or Audi
A white car.

Often more than one of the above is true.

By "bad drivers" I mean arrogant, selfish, dangerous driving, not indicating, etc.

There is a special exception for "bad driving" specifically for those who apparently cannot use reverse gear. They don't fit the above pattern, but will be driving a large SUV they are incapable of reversing or parking sensibly. I encounter these frequently, living as I do in labyrinth of narrow terraced streets. These cars will be parked at odd angles, half in the road, or most likely encountered barrelling down a street you've just turned into, refusing to tuck into any spaces at the side so you can pass each other, especially if it involves reversing. Instead you are forced to reverse for miles/back into another road/onto a pavement.

SUV yes, Taxi, yes. I drive a BMW…I indicate, let people zip in etc. I think I’m a good patient driver. My pet hate is anyone that drives down country single track lanes, yet can’t or WON’T reverse! I’ve lost count of the people coming down a lane I use many times a week, I’m nearly to my turning, so indicate, meaning they’d only need to reverse a couple of meters, yet they REFUSE to do so, making me reverse bloody AGES longer down a winding lane! Drives me absolutely mental.

This is a great post @2026me and I find this infuriating also

A lot of the time I think the problem is that they physically cannot reverse, they go into a blind panic and start weaving and turning the wheel when just a small tilt of the steering would do it.

SUVs with women drivers (dear reader, I am a woman) are the worst possible culprits where I live.

People who drive ludicrously large vehicles (Discovery, Range Rover, X5, Q7) but who refuse to follow the Highway Code and concede to priorities on the road.

It is like you are a gnat who has inconvenienced them - they just glower and wait for you to do the right thing.

The ego and arrogance of large car drivers is fascinating.

Weeellokthen · 06/05/2026 16:41

Also, suv/range rover drivers seem to be really small, some of them can barely see above the steering wheel 😂

The most awful bit of driving I’ve ever witnessed was on a stretch of road where 2 lanes merge into one - and BMW driver (obvs) over took an ambulance with a blue light active. Says it all really

What!?!?!?!?
Oh dear!

dailyconniptions · 06/05/2026 16:56

I don't agree with the white cars, apart from white Range Rovers but otherwise, yes.

yousillygoose · 06/05/2026 17:13

I drive a white Audi.. I promise I’m an excellent driver!

This is all so true IME!

I was recently so close to just turning off my engine and sitting waiting for this woman to reverse her SUV into the large space behind her. Rather than having to reverse onto the bit of pavement or back into the main road as she expected me to. (I'd turned into the street with her miles away, but she barrelled down it ignoring all the gaps and forced me to reverse). I didn't make a stand in the end as I figured she was incapable and we'd be there all day...

Reversing and parallel parking should be in every single driving test IMO.

I'm sure you are!

Not sure why so many posters think I'm criticising their driving due to what they drive.

Bad drivers drive Audis/BMWs/white cars/taxis/SUVs (in my experience).

Not the same thing as saying anyone with those cars is a bad driver!

on that i say its any make of car, been watching some road rage ones on youtube and its a mix of drivers and cars, + lorries, although usually car drivers

Uptee · 07/05/2026 00:40

Range rovers. I just automatically assign the "wanker" label now. I saw one go the wrong way round a roundabout the other week, and then reverse. Bizarrely bad driving.

White vans are often a bit free and easy because a lot of the time they don't own the vehicle so they don't mind if it gets dinged.

Flatbed trucks are lawless and I give them a wide berth.

Myblueclematis · 07/05/2026 08:13

Yesterday a white van for the Waterboard barged his way into my lane and forced me to brake hard, he should have turned right in his lane but obviously wanted to go straight on and the road narrows into one lane after the turn right junction. Drivers quite often choose the right hand lane so they can drive fast as the lights change and cut in and usually forces someone to have to brake who is actually in the correct lane. Pillocks!

I've had my car for eight years (it's white) yesterday was the first time I actually hooted at someone. 😆

MadisonAvenue · 07/05/2026 15:38

Around here it’s Range Rovers, or just SUV drivers in general, flatbed trucks and beat up old small cars driven by Just Eat drivers.

We’re on a new build estate, still being built and there’s only one road through at the moment. One part of it has cars parked all along one side with a blind corners at each end, it’s forever being complained about on the estate WhatsApp group.

Just yesterday I was driving along there, carefully and slowly because I was on the wrong side of the road due to parked cars completely blocking the left hand side and not being able to see if anyone was coming, when a Range Rover came quickly around the corner. I was almost at the end but still couldn’t move over as there were still a couple of cars on the left. I got abuse off the woman driver and I think she expected me to reverse all the way up the road and around the corner so she could drive up.

After she’d stopped mouthing off she drove past me with two thirds of the ‘car’ on the footpath.

topsecretcyclist · 07/05/2026 16:00

Delivery drivers are the worst now. No signalling, just screech to halt and put the hazards on. Don't care where, in the middle of a busy road, a blind bend, over a driveway, on the pavement.

The taxi drivers in my town are really slow, so if I get stuck behind one I know I'm doing 20 for the rest of my journey. The taxi drivers in the next town are really fast - was in one once who was doing 50mph in a 30 zone.

Onlyhereforthebatshitneighbours · 07/05/2026 16:09

Most bad drivers I see these days drive rangerovers not bmws or audis

sgssmum · 07/05/2026 19:50

Big Volvos and Range Rovers are the most inconsiderate and dangerous drivers in our area.

Celiathebanshee · 07/05/2026 19:56

I find people in hats to be the worst drivers. I don't think you can drive properly with a hat on

Blarn · 07/05/2026 19:57

I disagree with white cars and suggest instead blue cars. For transparency I have a white car but dh has a blue one and we are both good, courteous drivers! But it always seems to be a blue car parked across two bays or weaving in and out if two lanes of traffic.

AllJoyAndNoFun · 07/05/2026 19:58

I find white van drivers a bit yin- yang because they are a bit aggressive and gung- ho but at the same time they are disproportionately likely to let you out of side roads etc.
