New bf cat sit down- would this annoy you?

I’ve met a nice bloke. But he’s one of those people that can’t chill even for 5 mins: he’s always walking to get a coffee, picking the paper. The secondary I am out of something he has his coat and shoes on. It just really unsettles me as mad as that sounds. I am grateful he is wanting to get things in for me. But he’s in and out the house at least 5x a day.

Oh OP. You must be feline silly now.

I was here for the cat too.

The cat wins every time.

Maybe that is the answer. Get him a cat so he can't keep getting up.

Yeah cat privileges. If the cat is sat on you you can not move and everyone else must fetch anything you need as the cat must not be disturbed.

Bombombomtralala · 31/03/2026 19:27

My cat always sits with his back to me which is incredibly rude.

FitAt50 · 31/03/2026 19:28

I wonder if he is posting somewhere about his new girlfriend who can't compose a basic sentence 😜

YourShyLion · 31/03/2026 19:28

Aww I was looking forward to hearing about the cat

likelysuspect · 31/03/2026 19:30

The cat always gets on just as you think 'I better get up and use the loo'

Nope, not for a while now.

You mean there is no cat involved whatsoever? What kind of clickbait is this .

Team Cat.

However, the men I have known who were always 'just popping out' and off like a rat out a drainpipe to get milk at every opportunity were actually going out to neck alcohol/score or to make sure that the woman stayed indoors where they belonged.

I'd be suspicious.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 31/03/2026 19:40

I'd be suspicious

And I'm suspicious when cats are promised on a thread, yet fail to appear.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 31/03/2026 19:41

OP you need to ask MNHQ to move your thread to The Litter Tray board.

Then you'll definitely get more cat pictures.

Not, I suppose, that you were expecting any when you posted the thread

Nextdoorarebangingagain · 31/03/2026 19:47

I really did think it said ‘My bf’s new cat can sit down, would this bother you’

Had visuals of this weird cat sitting upright next to you both and you looking pissed off 🤷🏻‍♀️😂

I digress, Dh is like this (likely undiagnosed adhd) and yes it does bother me, he can rarely relax into things, whereas I can happily lie on the sofa all day, only movement being pressing the remote

jcfmover · 31/03/2026 19:49

Get him a cat. Problem solved.
I was stuck in the armchair for 5 hours yesterday because I had 3 cats on me and they weren't interested in moving.
That puts an end to getting up all the time.

Tacohill · 31/03/2026 19:50

How long have you been with him?

I couldn’t cope with someone like this.

If it’s not been a long time, it may be just nervous energy that will calm down.

Putting "cat" in the title is MN catnip. It is a nebulous dog whistle. OP, you could at least post a picture of a random cat.

Bjorkdidit · 31/03/2026 19:56

Greyblankie · 31/03/2026 16:59

I assumed it would be the cat that was being unreasonable ….

As it turns out there is no cat then YANBU, that would irritate me too

Cats are never unreasonable even when they are.

I thought this was either going to be the OP is annoyed because her cat never sits on her but will sit on her new BF.

Or that he doesn't know that it is the law that if a cat sits on you, you can't get up, even if you need to do something important.

66babe · 31/03/2026 19:57

But what about the cat ? ……..

Littlebitpsycho · 31/03/2026 19:58

My OH is a bit like this. He has ADHD and his brain just doesn't switch off. If he can't be DOING something for whatever reason, he talks incessantly instead about absolutely anything.

I love him to bits but I have perfected the art of saying just enough to make it look like I'm interested, whilst inwardly switching off my brain and actually not listening to a damn word 👌🤣

ChampagneLassie · 31/03/2026 20:23

I would love a man like this, although I’ve never managed. To get one long term. My DP is the opposite, he’d never move if he didn’t have to!

The technical term for this is "incapussitated".

What? No such thing as an unreasonable cat!

Aniceempirebiscuitandacupoftea · 31/03/2026 20:35

Who was doing the sitting, the man or the cat?
