New bf cat sit down- would this annoy you?

I’ve met a nice bloke. But he’s one of those people that can’t chill even for 5 mins: he’s always walking to get a coffee, picking the paper. The secondary I am out of something he has his coat and shoes on. It just really unsettles me as mad as that sounds. I am grateful he is wanting to get things in for me. But he’s in and out the house at least 5x a day.

My son is kinda like this. He can’t sit still. We’re on holiday visiting family and he’s taken over the dog walking, then goes for a jog, anyone even thinks of making a cup of tea he’s on it…he positively vibrates with energy. It’s exhausting!

Would he like to bottle some & sell it to me??

also here for the cat chat!

he'd have to go, he'd make me feel awfully lazy!

Catcatcatcatcat · 31/03/2026 17:27

Where’s the cat?

My cat sits on everything and refuses to move as well.
I took my glasses off earlier and put them down, Salem lay on them and ignored me and pretended I wasn’t there when I wanted to get them.

We all know a typical cattitude is “Where I fits, I sits”

Here's my cat sitting on the top of the wardrobe

Have you tried bribing him with Dreamies?

I was concerned someone was breastfeeding a cat.

I can imagine someone somewhere has! When I got my 2 sibling cats they were 14 weeks old and the male kept suckling the female. He grew out of it after a while but DH swears the cat tried to suckle his nose.

Yes, I thought it was about a cat, possibly doing a sit-down protest at the op.

Huckleberries · 31/03/2026 18:53

Poor OP 😂

Actual answer

Is it the hyperactivity that's bothering you or the fact that he's going out when you're there? Live together? What do you mean the second you're out of something He put his coat and shoes on?

I would struggle to live with somebody hyperactive but I also think it would do me good because I'm getting quite lazy

Is it that you want him to sit down with you more? I need more of an explanation apart from the cat.

But getting a cat who won't shift from his lap is definitely an answer

EmpressaurusKitty · 31/03/2026 18:54

I bet it’s an AI title & the AI hallucinated the cat.

Here’s my cat pondering the mystery while sitting on her cat tree.

My brother was like this when he was in recovery from alcoholism. This may not have any relevance, but a bit of chill time with a partner is a nicr thing

Planner2026 · 31/03/2026 19:00

Also came to stick up for the cat. Sorry OP

Sammy900 · 31/03/2026 19:03

I wondered why the new bf was being annoying by making the cat sit down

StudyinBlue · 31/03/2026 19:09

I thought the cat was breastfed and sat down 😂😂😂 I thought it was some weird drunk thread.

Nofeckingway · 31/03/2026 19:10

You mean there is no cat involved whatsoever? What kind of clickbait is this .

honeylulu · 31/03/2026 19:10

I thought it was going to be a post about you having to sit on the floor at your boyfriend's house because the Cat gets first dibs on the sofa. 😂

Anyway, my husband does the constant busyness/popping in and out thing. I try not to notice it but it irritates me sometimes because he'll pop out to buy a paper, come back, decide to do a small DIY job, pop out to B&Q without planning what he needs, come back, realise he hasn't measured up properly, back to B&Q, then oh look it's time for lunch, pop to tesco express ... I have long suspected it's a way of (a) being too busy to look after the kids on his own (though they're older now and he still does it, maybe out of habit) and (b) stopping me from making any fixed plans (he has a horror of preplanned stuff and wants to be "spontaneous" which ironically means he never actually does anything except pop in and out of the house making a small job last the whole day - I just plan stuff with my friends now).

Don't know if any of that sounds familiar. He might just be very energetic and needs to be up and about all the time.

EmpressaurusKitty · 31/03/2026 19:16

You’d find life a lot more peaceful if it was just you & the cat, OP.

5128gap · 31/03/2026 19:20

Whosthetabbynow · 31/03/2026 16:50

Yeh! I thought “ooo wonder why the cat can’t sit down”

Same. I came for tips because my cat can't sit down. Up on my knee, kneading, turning, bum in my face, turn again, rubbing my face with his face, more kneading, grooming, turning kneading...then jumps off to lie on an envelope on the table.
My partner meanwhile barely stands up. So this thread has nothing to do with my life, and I'll get my coat.

RonnieCharter · 31/03/2026 19:24

OP it’s GREAT to have children with these types of people! He’ll be so active and involved. As long as you’re given your time to rest etc, just know an active person it going to get shit done.
