Lighthearted- What petty thing(s) bother you?

I have quite a specific example.

I have a family member who saves photos from my social media page, saves them and then posts them onto her own page. (Without permission.)

It has been driving me nuts, even though it’s so petty!

What about you?

Inadequate gussets

Nonbio46 · 27/03/2026 03:27

People who wear rucksacks when they’re not on a hike. Especially when in shops where they take up more than half the aisle.

StripyGirl · 27/03/2026 03:54

To all those people irritated by opening the blister pack at the leaflet end - why don’t you just chuck the leaflet in the bin the first time you open the packet?

Sentientbean · 27/03/2026 04:01

T-shirts in M&S, H&M, primark, etc etc etc, emblazoned with ‘San Francisco’, ‘Chicago’, ‘Florida’, ‘Harvard’, yes it’s a cold, grey, rainy day in little Britain, it’s pretty grim actually, but do I have any ambition or inclination to be in the US right now?, for the record, NONE whatsoever. Message to designers and manufacturers for UK markets, the dream, it’s over, STOP IT.

Not petty at all - more like infuriating. I have a similar grievance with a friend who steals memes from my Facebook page and reposts them on her own, without leaving me so much as a 'like'. Gets my goat!

Imtornanddontknowwhattodo
Supermarkets that have loads of people stacking shelves but no or hardly any checkouts open.
In a lot of supermarkets there’s checkout people and floor people- they’ll have different people hired for each-.

Ive noticed a lot more Italian and French names and have found myself avoiding American names for the kids, it may not do anything but hopefully clothes makers get the message- I don’t want any of us wearing anything that promotes the us

People who rush to walk in front of you and then walk very slowly. Its rude and pointless.

Likewise, a car that overtakes me on my bike coming up to a junction when they can clearly see there's a queue of traffic then stops dead in front of me blocking me when I could have safely cycled up to the junction.

and a car sandwiching themselves between me and a car coming in the opposite direction. So impatient. Saves them precisely a nanosecond.

The change in pronouncing proven, from Pru ven to pro ven it really really gets my goat.

What? Where?

Surely not 😱

It is and always has been pronounced pro-ven in scotland so maybe you are just meeting more scottish people

Droppit · 27/03/2026 06:29

American pronunciations that seem to creep in:
Debris - UK English should be debb-ri not d-bri
Adult - should be add-ult not a-dult
Don't get me started on schedule 😂

No idea why it bothers me so much.

My husband, when he says "yeah, that's what I was thinking" when he clearly, was not just thinking that

Me: Why don't you wait til the end of the week to wash your white shirt rather than including it in a dark wash. It can go in the white wash with the school shirts on Friday

Him: Yeah, I was just thinking that (whilst stuffing his white shirt in the machine with a load of dark clothes...)

Riapia · 27/03/2026 06:50

When I ring my friend and her DH always answers. I’ve asked her why this is, she says it’s because he’s quicker to it than her.

When I'm playing a game on my iPad and an advert comes up (because I'm too tight to pay for no ads) and it's, eg, for a matching game. This cartoon hand appears and hovers for ages over the items, trying to find the match and they're so bloody obvious it kills you. I'm thinking "it's there, it's bloody there", but no, the hand doesn't notice it and the character dies. I know, I need to get a life 🤣🤣

LydiaFunnyGums · 27/03/2026 07:04

People who say invite instead of invitation. ‘I’ll send you an invite.’ Aargh! Drives me mad.

This! I was recently buying some things for an upcoming trip to Paris and I couldn’t find a nice sweatshirt that didn’t have a French slogan on it. I would have looked like a massive twat walking around Paris with mon amour (sp?) emblazoned across my chest.

TigerRag · 27/03/2026 07:43

People leaving really long voicemails

TheKateColumbo · 27/03/2026 08:28

I use loads of online recipes but two things drive me, first if it’s an American one for something like Shredded chicken fajita dip and the ingredients are
One pack Walmart shredded fajita chicken,
Jar of Trader Bob’s fajita dip mix,
200g shredded cheese

The second is when people comment for stupid adaptions “I’m allergic to chicken fajita dip, what could I use instead?”
”I made this using beef and tomato soup”
”I don’t like cheese could I use mashed potatoes”

Similarly on here someone will ask for high protein breakfast ideas but they’re allergic to eggs and at least three posters will suggest eggs.

LLJETO · 27/03/2026 09:22

I’m baffled…I much prefer the leaflet end of tablets, because then I can take it out straightaway and bin it (or put it somewhere to hand for reference if a new tablet). If you pull tablets out of the non leaflet end you end up having to fight to put them back in the box every time.

Unless you live in Scotland. "Not PROH-VEN" is a well-known Scottish court verdict.

Everything these days! 😂
