In saying 30 years is not enough?

This scum gets 30 years of free board and accomodation after destroying so many lives. I hope the other prisoners give him hell but I have a feeling he might be enjoying that.

But what happens after 30 years, or is then even a possibility of early release? He will still be young enough to be able to carry out such perversions, why isn't chemical castration at least an option for such despicable human beings??

Because people like this should never step foot in public again. Its odd to me that you think someone like this should be back out in society

Nothing like as "odd" as people who advocate for state-sanctioned execution, and yet apparently can not see the moral irreconcilability of a State which says "don't kill people, it's wrong, and if you do, we'll kill you".

An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth. Though we can do better than that, you rape our kids, we kill you. Thats fair

No, it's lunacy, and the hallmark of tinpot, backward, draconian despotic states.

Batties · 16/03/2026 17:38

I think that execution would be a really easy way out for people like him. I’d far rather he has to spend many years suffering in prison for what he has done.

This man raped children, so you want the UK to introduce policies from a country with a far higher crime rate? I ask again, why?

These threads are a contest to see who can be the most outraged and blood thirsty, they aren't actual conversations about crime prevention.

But raping infants isnt lunacy? Dont act like you have a point by using as many words as possible. What punishment you suggest for this thing? A slap on the wrist? 30 years in prison, with time served at 15? Enjoying a solo cell alone fantasising about what he did to those kids? Those victims?

Anyone who rapes another person, but especially a defenceless child, deserves to be killed in the most painful possible way. But you sit there on your high horse saying how that isnt the proper thing to do, and this poor man should only be left to serve a few years in prison for his trivial crimes. Guess youre just "down with this sort of thing".

youalright · 16/03/2026 17:48

He will be out when he is 50 walking the streets would you want him living next door to your future grandchildren

Exactly right. Their crime rate isnt higher because they have capital punishment, and trying to make that correlation is true lunacy. I think we should go a step further a employ punishment from more extremist countries, id be all for watching this waste of oxygen get stoned to death.

Nobody will be giving him hell in prison
He will be segregated and given one-to-one protection for many many years
They will learn their lesson from what happened to Huntley and it won’t be allowed to happen again in a hurry

It'll happen someone will always turn a blind eye and 'accidents' happen. I don't believe for one minute that any prisoner has one to one body guarding,
He'll need to sleep with one eye open.

Because the crime has already happened? This thread is about this man and the punishment he deserves. There is no way to prevent this from happening, other than nurseries taking one look at this obvious pedophile and not thinking "yeah, you look like a kind and nurturing soul that should be trusted to be alone with defenceless children". And before anyone says "dont judge a book by its cover!!!!" Clearly, they should have in this case. And yes, im aware even the nicest looking people can be rapists and pedophiles, but not hiring people like this whom may as well have "pedo" tattooed on their forehead would be a good start.

youalright · 16/03/2026 17:55

Typical pig-ignorant nonsense.

First off, research shows severity of punishment in no way serves as a deterrent. This is also borne out by the empirical evidence from places like the US and Russia, where they still practice capital punishment, and yet still experience a degree of serious criminality far over and above other comparatively developed nations.

What does act as a deterrent, as criminals themselves have told researchers, is the propensity to be detected, apprehended, and convicted.

The main way people are caught for committing serious sexual crimes is because there is a primary witness. If you remove that witness, your chance of being detected and convicted is reduced.

So you start executing your sexual offenders. Great, they're dead! Get the flags and the bunting out. However, the slight problem with this is now a much higher proportion of your victims of serious sexual crimes are not only victims of rape and sexual assault, they are also murder victims too!!

Wohoo! big round of applause for the "bring back hanging" imbeciles.

He's going to spend a minimum of 20 years behind bars, the remainder on licence. That's even assuming it's adjudged he's fit to be released after 20 years, and I have a hard time imagining that will be the case. Even if he is, he'll be on the sex offenders register for the remainder of his life, and severely restricted in what he can do in terms of employment and who he can come into contact with.

In what way is being deprived of liberty for likely at least 30 years "getting off pretty much scot free"?

He’ll probably change his name to Norma and say he’s is a woman when he gets out

I’m not sure if it’s still the case but this was an easy way to get around any DBS a few years ago
There was a case ( Scotland I think ) where a man did this to hide his previous crimes

cocopopseveryday · 16/03/2026 18:02

It was one of the most severe sentences he could have received so that's at least some form of justice. Now we need to understand how such a catestrohphic safeguarding failure of this gravity happened in the first place. It sounds as though there were plenty of warnings about him from what has been reported in the news.
Interestingly they stated today "Det Insp Forde acknowledged the "harm and upset" caused to families whose children have attended nurseries where Bennett was employed." Which indicates there have been reports from other nurseries prior to the Bristol one where he was last working.
How long has has this really been going on for and how was it possible that he was able to go onto to this Bristol nursery and commit these absolutely vile crimes when there were previous complaints?! There are clearly people who need to be held accountable for allowing this to happen.
They are the ones who we truly entrust with our youngest and most vulnerable children. Plus the Bristol LADO were even informed and didn't act properly on the information at first, allowing him to commit more offences. Absolutely shocking!!!
It was so heartbreaking to read the parents accounts of their experiences. These poor families need answers!

In what way are they victims of murder, too? If they were victims of murder, they would be dead. They would not be told at the age of 2-4 that this man has been executed. They would only be glad once they are older, I can assure you.

I agree that prevention is through deterrent, but criminals evolve and adapt to any new measures put in place. Everybody knows that. Public outrage is caused when scum like this rape our children and go on to get a slap on the wrist and a cushy life in prison. What message is it sending that he can commit such vile crimes, and this is his punishment? People are angry. Parents are angry. They want true justice for their infant children, and that is to rid the world of the disease that is pedophiles like this one.

Also, you may get taken a little more seriously as a person if you didnt pad your arguments with insults.

Bring back hanging!
