It is the "podcasts" and the extreme right sadly, these men just need to get off the internet and get a bit of fresh air and meet actual women.

TomatoSandwiches · 05/03/2026 11:46

These are the ones that get left behind.

I always think this when I see men say things like men who are short/overweight/ugly/poor will not get wives because all women only go for tall, dark, handsome, rich men (the top 1% as they call them) and I have to assume they don't know any humans or leave their home.

Yes they sit in their cars or bedrooms complaining, it is quite sinister tbh,

Morepositivemum · 05/03/2026 11:53

Yes, as above I’ve heard some podcasts and seen some Facebook clips where I thought they were going to say ‘this is terrible’ wrt really backward male thinking. Nope! It was ‘you work hard all day, she should listen to you and not jump on you’. Comments backing them up, wife is such a nag only works three days a week, thinks her being at home is comparable to my commute and long day at work. I play with the kids what does she want from me? I was like: oh shit.

Andrew fucking Tate and the like have a lot to answer for. Arseholes

AnneBoleynsNecklace · 05/03/2026 11:58

incels and the Andrew Tate brigade = toxic masculinity plus the reformers with their women are just baby machines mantra

They are their own victims...because this philosophy isn't the route to any kind of happiness and fulfilment

Absolutely. They don't seem to understand that simply being a kind and decent human being will go a long way.

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2026/mar/05/gen-z-men-baby-boomers-wives-should-obey-husbands

Society seems to be going backwards! I always thought that, generation after generation, we were generally, slowly, becoming more equitable...

What’s fascinating is that more Gen Z women believe women should obey men than Boomer woman.

So this rollback, while impacting boys more is also impacting girls. Luckily in the UK they seem more progressive on the matter.

Dollymylove · 05/03/2026 12:08

Plenty of cultures out there who's wives are deemed the husbands property but tends to be "move along now, nothing to see here"

At some point, you need to stop blaming women for men's failings.

EvangelicalAboutButteredToast · 05/03/2026 12:13

This is the pushback against women deciding that men needed to be equal providers and home makers. Men don’t want to do housework and offer emotional support. They want the women to shut up, have sex and look after the kids and they want to go to work and earn enough to pay the bills, have their dinner made and go out with their mates. It’s as it ever was.

And when women rightly point out that we actually would prefer a man who just treats us well and looks aren't too relevant, they argue and say no we are obsessed with looks. I'm pretty sure the gym bro podcast listeners are trying to get men's attention rather than ours.

when they say "all women" they of course mean the very attractive model type women they want to be in relationships with not the woman who are on par looks wise with themselves

babyproblems · 05/03/2026 12:24

I wonder aswell if it’s becoming aspirational
to have a more traditional wife now -
with incomes tanking, and the cost of living rising; it’s harder and harder to survive on one income. I think for many young men, it’s a sort of status symbol now if you can afford to have a kept woman at home. Having a large family now is sort of seen that way imo. Shit for women mostly & agree it’s all grim news for equality.

Slightyamusedandsilly · 05/03/2026 12:24

I'm not surprised though. And I don't think it's a new phenomenon. I think we've been going in that direction for a while. I know gender roles used to be more defined, but I remember men of my grandparents generation who actually mucked in together a lot more. I think the rot started with the period in between the silent generation and the boomers. Something to do with women going back into the home after the war maybe? Enforced gendered attitudes hardening? The 1970s feminist movement maybe caused a bit of a ripple against that, but 1980s feminist was roundly mocked and dropped by a lot of women correcting the 70s egalitarian blip.

PrismRain · 05/03/2026 12:28

Women have evolved. Men have remained stuck because they don’t possess the emotional intelligence and understanding to develop themselves in the ways that women now value. They are stupid and morally and emotionally inept.

ShakeNCake · 05/03/2026 12:30

I saw that article and did a double take. I'm gutted for my DC that this is the kind of bullshit they might think is normal. We are going to have to work so hard with our DCs to counteract this. My 8 year old started saying 'sigma' but doesn't know what it means. Where on earth are 8 year olds learning this rubbish?
