Vulgar Comment Has Really Icked Me

YourFlakyHam · 21/02/2026 16:31

Me and my partner were watching a youtube channel about a guy lives on a narrow boat. We've followed him for a few years and now he has a girlfriend, who he introduced to his viewers. His girlfriend had to leave for work and waved goodbye to the viewers.
My partner said "Do you think she put out?"
I was shocked and disgusted by his comment!
I called him out it ,was really pissed off with him tbh.
He laughed and said it was just an off the cuff joke.
But now I feel like he's tainted the program,it's lovely and innocent and just nice to watch.I also feel like I've lost some respect towards him.
The couple are in their late 50's and of course they would be in a,sexual relationship
It was a very immature and vulgar comment
I didn't expect it as he's never said anything like that before .It's just given me that ick feeing tbh and it was a few weeks ago.
My partner isn't young .

I’m pretty sure if they’re in a relationship, they will have had sex.

But definitely a bizarre comment for your DP to make!

Well it’s a weird comment because generally one would assume that adults in relationships are probably having sex within that relationship. So it sounds more like something a 16 year old boy who has never had sex would say 🤷🏻‍♀️

CarrierbagsAndPJs · 21/02/2026 16:34

What does he mean? Do you think she had sex with her boyfriends? Id that what he isbseriously alsing?

how old is he?!?!

i dont understand why you thibk that would ruin the progrsmme for you though, rather than respect for your partner.

MrsCarmelaSoprano · 21/02/2026 16:34

Odd comment,it would be unusual if they didn't have sex as adults.

Dexy7655 · 21/02/2026 16:34

Eeew, he has a small sad mind, your boyfriend. Sadly this may be an insight into how he and and a lot of men think and talk. But some of them are able, if not to concentrate on what a programme is about, at least keep their pathetic thoughts to themselves.

DestinedToBeOutlived · 21/02/2026 16:35

It's a very odd comment to make.

It's also odd that you feel this comment has tainted the programme though, that seems like an extreme reaction.

How long have you and your partner been together?

ThiagoJones · 21/02/2026 16:35

The programme being ‘tainted’ as an odd reaction from you though.

IrredeemablySo · 21/02/2026 16:36

What a weird comment ‘put out’

and it’s not even funny, yes they probably did have sex. They are adults.

I would have the ick too.

once someone says weird things like that you just can’t take them anywhere

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 21/02/2026 16:38

I had a partner like this once. Behaved like a 12 year old boy whenever sex, the possibility of sex or anything vaguely sexual cropped up. Thought 'boobs' was the funniest thing ever.

Is he not, perhaps, the brightest spark? Because nothing turns women off faster than men who think anything sexual is hysterically funny.

ilovesooty · 21/02/2026 16:38

Your reaction seems strange to me. However "icked me" makes me feel a bit nauseous.

Blackberrys1 · 21/02/2026 16:39

Juvenile humour of this kind would give a lot of women the ick.
Maybe you have low level ick and this has tipped you over.

UnctuousUnicorns · 21/02/2026 16:40

Maybe stick to Rosie and Jim in future?

catipuss · 21/02/2026 16:41

What makes the programme less innocent if the poor guy has sex with his girlfriend? It's not exactly surprising. Put out is an odd expression though, rather old fashioned to use such a euphemism, these days it's just had sex.

Sunshineismyfavourite · 21/02/2026 16:41

I too an unsure what your DP meant by 'does she put out'. Did he mean dyou think they have had sex?

To say it has tainted the programme for you is very dramatic - I think you should feel tainted by your partner for what he said, if his words upset you. Not the programme. Surely two consenting adults in a relationship will almost certainly be having sex - can't have been a shock for you!

TheMatildaEffect · 21/02/2026 16:43

Fancy rocking the boat like that.

Droppit · 21/02/2026 16:46

Urgh. I hate the phrase 'put out' - only ever heard it being referred to women. God forbid a woman wants sex early on ina relationship. Scandalous. 🤬

Olderandwiserpossibly · 21/02/2026 16:48

I really dislike the expression " put out". It has vibes of the woman offering sex on a transactional basis, not because she enjoys it.

Your DP sounds incredibly immature.

And yes knowing that he has a one track mind and is imagining people having sex everytime he seems a couple together is extremely off putting.

INX · 21/02/2026 16:50

'Shocked and disgusted'

'Really pissed off'

'Tainted the lovely innocent program'.

I mean it was a juvenile, crass comment - yeah.

But your reaction is also more than juvenile and rather dramatic.

TY78910 · 21/02/2026 16:50

Hate the phrase and yes his “joke” was dumb.

I do have to say though - if you feel it’s tainting the programme for you then you then you must think begonia her attractive? And that he’ll be watching it looking at her? That’s a little insecure

YourFlakyHam · 21/02/2026 16:53

Exactly He meant do you think she gave him sex before going off to work .Wtf has that got to do with a narrow boat program ?
It was a comment you'd hear in the 70/80s

It’s a bit immature, how old is your partner.

Well it's got nothing to do with the program obviously.

It was just an immature thing to say.

But blimey, your reaction is so OTT.

dapsnotplimsolls · 21/02/2026 17:00

If he starts speculating on her 'body count' then you need to start wondering about his social media habits.

AnAppleAWeek · 21/02/2026 17:01

Maybe stick to Rosie and Jim in future?

From what I hear there is no doubt that she put out!
