Does anyone else have a "wine noise" window?

I do. Every evening from about 6pm to 8pm I think OO SOME WINE WOULD BE NICE. If I don't have any by 8 (which I usually don't, don't worry readers) the urge goes away.

I don't really get it with other treats. Like I love chocolate but it's not the same.

Maybe it's the socialised guilt around alcohol?

No, but I do have a "cake urge" window. 😂

I have tea windows! 9-10am when I’m working. Then after lunch, then again around 4pm. Different timescale if I’m not working but similar. I don’t like wine.

I gave up booze years ago but replace the wine window eith a bath window. :D

I do too, but I find this with most things. I don't wake up hungry and often don't want to eat until 10 or 11 am. I don't fancy sweets outside of midday, I don't want a meal after about 5 or 6 pm, and I don't tend to want wine if I haven't had it before 9pm.

No, not at all. Craving alcohol every night is surely a sign of an alcohol problem.

Oh bore off.

Surely giving in to the craving is the problem.

My window is when I’m walking home from work on a Thursday. The temptation to walk home via my local is strong. I rarely do!

I used to. Just that period after putting DC to bed where I’d sit down and think “ooh a nice cold glass of wine would be lovely”.

But it doesn’t agree with me anymore unfortunately. Even a small glass makes me feel a bit shit, so I’ve not drunk in well over a year.

I used to have it on certain nights of the week but got out of the habit. Similarly with vaping, smoking, nicotine tablets etc! I’ve had a lot of vices 🤣 Choc & crisps in the evening always a big trigger still for me.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 21/02/2026 10:03

Used to. Always had a glass of wine while cooking the dinner - until I had pneumonia/pleurisy, 3 weeks in hospital, masses of ABs that made everything taste weird or horrible.

3 years ago now, and I’ve never wanted the ‘cooking’ wine since. Will still have a glass or 2 if out for lunch/dinner though.

Yes but 5-6pm.

CeciliaMars · 21/02/2026 11:05

Yes but sadly 1 glass of wine now results in poor sleep and heart palpitations at age 47.

Yes, 6pm until dinner. Every day. I don't even drink with dinner, if there's any left in my glass after eating I will pour it away. I find it strange.

Yes same!
