Unfriending right wing friends

nondrinker1985 · 16/02/2026 16:53

One of my school mum friends of around 10 years has started sharing loads of Restore Britain/Rupert Lowe posts.

I’m actually really shocked as she’s an Irish immigrant herself.

I’ve unfriended her which is a shame as day to day she’s ok. Also another mum who has been liking and commenting on the Restore Britain posts, they’ll probably tell me they’re not racist but I can’t be arsed calling them out.

I don't believe in friends because they've proven fickle, over time. I do, however, believe in everybody's right to free speech. Do you?

Hahaha! Yes, that says a lot. Yes friends are fickle I agree to an extent but that probably helps explain why you became bitter.

And yes, I believe in free speech, but it’s not absolute and never has been. Free speech goes both ways also, like the student union who used their right to expression to decline Reform’s request for a Q&A, which funnily enough they didn’t like 🤣

‘Free speech for me, not for thee’

I hope life improves for you.

Perhaps you should try to learn a bit more resilience OP. Are you really so arrogant as to think that your opinion is the only one that is correct?

You think people of colour should be more resilient in the face of racism because the racists may be correct?

Or am I misunderstanding you?

Please do carry on. That's 3 personal attacks you've now made. It adds zero to your cause. Sorry was meant for @Teanbiscuits33

I hope you can present a sustainable opinion which doesn't get personal.

Three paragraphs worth of angry, petulant trantrumming to accuse others of angry, petulant tantrums. I can almost hear you snarling, spittle flying everywhere.

We're expected to think "ah, wouldn't it be terrible if somebody like this unfriended me"

Of course she is.
It has been drummed into everyone from school onwards. It's deliberate and part of the left wing propaganda. Unable to debate in any meaningful way, unable to see a different point of view or indeed humble enough to acknowledge that we don't all think the same.
Arrogant, blinkered and dangerously stupid.

I’m not angry, I’m stating facts. I’m perfectly calm. Happy people do not vote for fascism, and happy people do not punch down on others. Fact

Now talking of stating facts, about a post that had no objective facts in it whatsoever.

Awwww, don’t you like personal attacks? But it’s okay for you to do it to anybody you think you’re better than? Not my problem you’re insecure enough to hold the views you do.

No I think she is saying her friends are Conservatives.
Oh, hang on - are you saying Conservatives are racists and fascists? How very clever of you.

It's really no good adding fact to your posts. There's a vast difference between subjectivity and objectivity. I ignored your previous reference to student unions because in my experience, their representation does not equate with reality outside of academia.

It’s proven by psychology. Truly happy, secure people don’t feel threatened enough to attack others in that way

So why are you on a debating forum if you don't want to read alternative views? I left research theories behind a long time ago. I prefer to live in the real world where grown ups exchange views.

What an utterly ridiculous simplistic post.

People are allowed to end relationships for whatever reason. However, being critical of immigration does not make you a racist. Supporting brexit does not make you an idiot that has no critical thinking skills. Watching GB news does not mean you believe what they say. Sometimes people might disagree with you and have valid points.

Alternative views? I’m happy to tolerate alternative views. What I’m not happy to tolerate is racism or fascism. It’s based on nothing but insecurity and spite. Genuinely nasty. And no, I don’t have to be ‘’tolerant’’ of it because someone tells me I should.

Admittedly I'm quite unhappy at the state of things. It's the grooming gangs and all of the rapes and murders mainly, plus the cultural change and the billions of pounds of expenditure at a time when our government talks of nothing but fiscal black holes and tax increases. What makes me happy however, is the opportunity to vote against that. However many unhinged lefties unfriend me for it. Its win-win actually isn't it.

A spot on post but isn't it astonishing that this even has to be explained. It's an utter disgrace really that this is where we are.

No confusion thanks I think you’re overstating Brexit on this. Especially when compared with other EU struggles over migration, bar Poland.

Even Mahmood has said similar in a rare moment of Labour honesty.

You really do deny reality, am actually laughing at your response. I'd forgotten you were like this. Ah well, each to their own.

You can be unhappy with immigration and you can be unhappy about grooming gangs, but to suggest that all asylum seekers are paedophiles and rapists and only being concerned about Asian men is the issue. You can raise the issue without bringing race into it.

Things have nuance, and your lower standard of living is not to do with immigrants.

When you’re basing opinions on plainly biased nonsense on X or GB News or don’t think past a headline and immediately jump to conclusions based on what Reform want you to believe, that’s when true debate stifles, because if you don’t know the facts, then how do you have real discussion? Thats where I lose my patience with it,
