To have ran upstairs in case I smelt of burger

Whydoesitalwaysrainonmeeeee · 10/02/2026 20:10

Just now

Treated myself to a Big tasty meal on the way home from work. Happily driving along in the dark and rain, listening to 90’s tunes 🤣
Dropped the bag evidence in the big bin round the corner from my house, getting soaked in the process, but all worth it.
Had to do the quick check of the car and car seat for any random bits-there was shredded lettuce-got rid.
Came in the house, coat off and Ddog smelling my hands, so I ran upstairs saying to Dh and Dd that I was tired 😂

In bed feeling satisfied, but wondering if I smell of burger

I hide a nice chocolate bar in my bookshelf.
Dont want to share, thank you.
Pretend to browse for a book, take book.and chocolate bar and go to a quiet place to read (stuff) my face.

It’s a bit of fun - part of the pleasure
Gives you something nice that is JUST yours
No one whining or stealing or complaining or commenting
Saves money treating just one instead of all

My DH wouldn’t care but he would want a coke zero and fries.

Ah now I get it - you go OP. Enjoy and don’t let the ddog tell on you 🤣

SweetCamomile2020 · 10/02/2026 21:37

I have 4 adult children. I used to take DD out for a drive when she was a teenager and we would get McDonalds but not bring any home for the boys. We used to make sure we got rid of all the McEvidence from the car.

Do you have an eating disorder or is your partner controlling your food intake?? I am genuinely bemused by your post. Is this a UK thing? Why not just eat and enjoy it - who’s stopping you?? Stealth eating doesn’t sound healthy - are you okay?

Edited

Are you ok?
@Whydoesitalwaysrainonmeeeee is fine and satisfied.

You forgot… controlling husband forcing OP to binge eat in secret…

Too funny 😂

Genuinely bemused 😄 I forgot about "bemused". Odd, baffled and bemused!

Bikergran · 10/02/2026 21:42

@Whydoesitalwaysrainonmeeeee top tip, open all the windows wide for the last few minutes of your drive home, to get rid of the lingering smell in the car next time it's used. And carry mints or gum in the car.

ThatCyanCat · 10/02/2026 21:43

I dreamed the other night that I had an affair (have never actually had an affair) and got caught because I claimed to have been swimming but I didn't smell of chlorine.

She’s not really OK, she couldn’t just eat a burger without some odd fear of being caught. It’s not that she just didn’t mention it, it’s that she had to hide all evidence in case she got caught out. To people who don’t do this, it does seem like an eating disorder or an unhealthy relationship where there will be negative consequences for this.

It’s not the eating a burger that’s odd, it’s the drama around it. It’s clearly a batshit thing to do, so @KimuraTanhas just jumped to the conclusion you’d need a reason to do something so strange, like an eating disorder or a controlling partner.

Ohthatsabitshit · 10/02/2026 21:45

Are there seriously people who can’t eat and drive, or find driving in rain so very challenging that they can no longer chew and drive???? The police will not stop you for this or how on earth do you think 99% of the people leaving a drive through carry on down the road?

TheMatildaEffect · 10/02/2026 21:45

I love a maccies. But I am not a secret binge eater like you, op. So I just get the gherkin. No bun, meat, salad or dressing. No side. Just water.
So filling .

Love it!! I ALWAYS get 2 snickers on the rare chance I 'get' to do the food shop on my own. And yes, I hide all evidence... pathetic that I class it as 'me time' 😂

do you do the food shop together usually? I always do it on my bloody own!

ImADelightActually · 10/02/2026 21:45

Whydoesitalwaysrainonmeeeee · 10/02/2026 20:48

😮 You can’t eat whilst driving?!

There was thing in the news several years ago about a woman who got a fine for eating an apple while driving. I think there was some campaign or raising awareness thing about eating and drinking in situations it could be a distraction or liability. IIRC the woman fined for eating an apple while driving was doing a manoeuvre at the time but like I say it was quite a while ago.

What would have happened if they found out you ate a burger op? And did you already have dinner or say you didn’t want any?

fishfingerbutty · 10/02/2026 21:47

I don’t understand this.
What business is it of anyone else what you choose to eat?
Just relax at home and enjoy your meal?

SuperSharpShooter · 10/02/2026 21:48

We've had Maccies breakfast delivered early before the kids wake up... on occasion 👀
Delivery instruction are to call up to the window. DO NOT Ring The Bell!
The kids will NEVER know.

Those who ‘don’t get it’ and clutching their pearls - I feel sorry for you! You’ve never had that guilty pleasure of a secret treat.

Mines usually a secret McD muffin - I leave for work ‘early’ so I’m not late for work!

I don’t understand people who don’t understand the OP.

She didn’t want to take her meal home.

She wanted to have the thrill of having a cheeky secret maccies alone without having to get her husband or child one.

Good God why can’t people on here have a sense of humour.

No food choice should ever make you feel guilty.
We’re not accountable to anyone else regarding what we choose to enjoy eating!

I didn’t have dinner, made it earlier for them..pesto pasta, the thought of coming back to that was not appealing..so I did a quick detour 😁
