To have ran upstairs in case I smelt of burger

Just now

Treated myself to a Big tasty meal on the way home from work. Happily driving along in the dark and rain, listening to 90’s tunes 🤣
Dropped the bag evidence in the big bin round the corner from my house, getting soaked in the process, but all worth it.
Had to do the quick check of the car and car seat for any random bits-there was shredded lettuce-got rid.
Came in the house, coat off and Ddog smelling my hands, so I ran upstairs saying to Dh and Dd that I was tired 😂

In bed feeling satisfied, but wondering if I smell of burger

It’s really not that deep

Sooo, why hide it then?

youalright · 10/02/2026 21:54

I want to know what magical place you live in that you can get the big tasty from

I have a secret Mc Ds at least once a month. It tastes nicer when its forbidden 😋

Vodka1 · 10/02/2026 21:58

An alone mcdonalds is the only mcdonalds worth having...however, no drink makes you a fucking fiend.

I genuinely do not know how you can eat a mcds without a drink 😭

Various reasons…the main ones being…I didn’t want to have to get some for everyone else, spend loads more for everyone else, wait to get home to eat mine with everyone else. I wanted it just for me, to eat alone, to enjoy alone..because I could..

OP posts:
Lifeomars · 10/02/2026 21:59

I bet it was extra tasty due to the secrecy and being on your own to savour it

Magical place…? You are aware that there are other places in the world aside from the uk that just might sell a Big tasty burger, right?

OP posts:
Simplestars · 10/02/2026 22:01

Because @Whydoesitalwaysrainonmeeeee wanted to eat a cheeky burger on her OWN.
Less expense than funding for entire family, less drama of getting order for everyone.
Her own peace and burger.
She enjoyed it. 😉

I know 😂 really don’t know what I was thinking…maybe that it felt like less of a meal, so stupid

💯 @Whydoesitalwaysrainonmeeeee .

Man just reading that makes me happy for you.

Let these judgey pants wring their disapproving hands.
Their other half are probably having sneaky burgers on the way home too.

You have access to the same google we do, any reason you can't use it?

Sorry but this is ridiculous.

Really amateurish @Whydoesitalwaysrainonmeeeee

You need a good strong throat sweet and a nice handcream. Hides all traces. 🫡

You also need to drive with the windows down to prevent it smelling in the car.

Not that I would know 😅

Hardly anyone is being judgy. Just not getting it, which I'm still not. If I was sorting my own dinner and decided to stop off and grab a burger instead of coming home to what I'd already planned I would just do that. I wouldn't feel that I need to hide it or justify it.

The only thing I find odder than the premise of the thread is the number of people who recognise it as apparently normal behaviour.

Polaris777 · 10/02/2026 22:12

Oh OP you and others have made me laugh and cheered me up SO much tonight! I don’t think I’ve ever clicked on the ‘react’ button so much. Thank you and may you long continue to be successful at covering your tracks during your secret burger eating missions!

justasking111 · 10/02/2026 22:14

I confess to buying chocolate at the garage occasionally. Hormones I think. I hid the evidence too. 😂

I'm fascinated by the people who don't get this.

Is it that when you do something just for yourself, you do so unapologetically?

Maybe you have plenty of moments for yourself so don't need to feel so guarded about sneaking one in?

Or you have no reservations about sharing all the time?

Or think it's normal to eat fast food so it's a non event?

Who are you people?!

Yes to all.

I don't get secret eating and getting a thrill from it. I bring food home for dcs that I know they like. I buys snacks for myself, eat it and don't share. If someone wants to eat it as well, I will buy 2 portions next time. My dh has his fave snacks and treats. I don't touch them. If I want them, I will take a little (or as much as he allows) and then ask him to get some for me at the next shop. I know my dcs fave snacks and food and buy it just for them.

Ok 🍟🍔

outerspacepotato · 10/02/2026 22:16

There's a whole world of sneak eating I'm clueless about.

I mean, if I wanted something to eat, I'd eat it. I don't have to explain my actions or hide the evidence or buy for others. I'm just not getting this.

Stop, you're killing me!

But it's ok. I reckon nothing makes a sweeter dessert to a sneaky burger or equivalent than the hordes of the rather easily bemused and baffled who are disturbed and flummoxed and totally unable to comprehend said sneaky burger (who would think it was beyond so many people's comprehension!) but absolutely aren't passing moral judgement upon it, oh no siree.

Mm, moral judgement. Yum!

I don’t get it either. I’m guessing there must be 2 sorts of people some that get this and some that don’t. Probably a thrill seeking thing. Some people are also very emotional about food and some are not. I have a work colleague that seem to talk about food every day, I barely think about food unless I am very hungry. Neither way is bad, just different. What’s most odd is that neither side can understand the other sides perspective.

It's not moral judgement! I have no judgement on OP's secret burger. I just don't get why it needs to be secret or why it being secret is fun.

Due to timings of work and an unexpected day in the office tomorrow I might well get McDonald's on the way home rather than come home for dinner. If I do I'll send DH a quick text so he knows not to cook for me. It won't be a secret because I don't get why it would be or why it would be funny if it was.
