To not get the visceral levels of hatred people have for Keir Starmer

LastChristmasigaveyousomesocks · 29/01/2026 19:58

I’m not suggesting he’s the greatest prime minister ever. I’m not even suggesting he’s good at all. But some people really, really passionately hate him.

He is a bit insipid and doesn’t have much charisma but overall he seems like a decent enough bloke who perhaps lacks the political skill and acumen he needs. He’s out of his depth basically.

But that’s not a reason to actually despise someone is it?

When did we get to a point where we can’t just disagree without painting the other person as the devil incarnate?

@Pineneedlesincarpet
I have linked to positive things - you disagree - that's allowed. I think that better rights for renters and workers - especially those on low pay, are not bad outcomes as you do. This thread is about the hatred for Starmer but you have not commented on the difference in media coverage between Starmer and Farage.
Anyway..........................
Back to work.

Well plenty of nice things in theory have bad outcomes eventually.

Nigel Farage has had horrific media coverage for 30 years. Unlike Mr New to the Game Starmer who has only had it for a year or so. And deservedly so due to his own actions.

As a Tory I wish we'd still stuck with Sunak. He knew what was going to happen. Especially with the economy.

One good thing Keir has done is been sensible with his relationship with the US.

Ah, but Sunak liked aeroplane travel too much. Not like Starmer, Lammy or other preachy Labour politicians. Oh, wait…

Hypocrisy is the name of this government’s game.

Yes there is hypocrisy now they are in government. Like Rayner now taking a second job.

Politicians always get 'hate'. Look at BJ, Truss, May, Cameron, Blair. They are easy targets as they're up there saying things those who didn't vote for them don't like.
I doubt they look at mumsnet though so couldn't care less.

Political parties definitely look at mumsnet and it's naive to think otherwise - I once emailed a coalition minister about a topic being discussed on here and was surprised to find out he knew my username. He asked me to post his response which I did (he obviously got shredded, not being from the party allowed to go after disabled people). They also get staff to post, it's basic nudge theory.

So its only GB news that knows what a woman is?

Honestly, you need to stop spouting the same tired crap over and over. It's really boring. Do you honestly think the funders and supporters of gb news support and care for women? I'm very gender critical, but your blinkered venom spouting is actually turning me the other way!

Yes. And we mustn't mention on here that Keir admitted that men can have a cervix either.

Did he?

i thought he said that we shouldn’t say that only women have a cervix (which is still fucking stupid but not quite the same thing)

Why did you mention them then? You brought them up and asked a PP to go there as she was discussing women's rights?

Noooo not allowed! A thread about why someone is so very unpopular but we mustn't mention reasons apparently lest we upset the women have penises crew.

Yes I'm sure there are assistants around for those things. To see our PM scurrying on the floor in front of Trump was, as always with Starmer, cringeworthy.

I wonder what would have been said if he had just stood there and waited for an aide to “scurry round” picking things up….

Tbf you sound a fair bit angrier and personal than @Pineneedlesincarpet

Have you seen how many jobs Farage has? So many he can’t keep track of the earnings.

NotThatSerious · 30/01/2026 09:18

I hate him. I think he’s done more damage then good. I also think the “kier starters a wanker” song should be our new national anthem. Quite fitting

'ks doesn't know what a woman is' isn't discussing women's rights. It's repeating the ridiculous false narratives promoted by the likes of gb news. Jesus, get out of your sad little echo chamber once in a while.

DenizenOfAisleOfShame · 30/01/2026 09:18

Why is Farage relevant to a comment about Rayner?

FWIW I think Farage is a wanker.

When did I ever say anything about Farage? Did Farage criticise and blast people for taking second jobs and then take multiple himself?

I like him - nice to have a sensible boring grown up in charge for once.

I agree, I don't mind him and I didn't even vote Labour. I don't agree with some of what he says but generally he just gets on with being PM in a generally sensible manner.

Of course the fact he isn't Boris Johnson, Liz Truss, Ed Davie, Farage or Zack Polanski also helps increase his appeal 😁

Thats a little unfair Nc. There was a huge list upthread of why we don't like him.

Why dont you go through that and provide a cogent rebuttal for each point to help us?

Dollymylove · 29/01/2026 22:16

Would you seriously trust someone who thinks he can use his mind to increase the size of women's knockers to run the country?
😇😅😅

That's not the question. My word your responses are so spoon fed
