McDonald’s Vegan Options

McDonalds are axing the only vegan happy meal option, now only McPlant burger will be available. Due to poor sales.

AIBU to think it’s a no brainer that kids don’t want curry vegetable sticks?! My kids HATE them. Did they really think kids would eat them?

There are loads of good vegan options available now, including fantastic veggie nugget options. But instead of trying those, vegetarian and vegan children (or those who need halal or kosher meat etc), now need to order off the main menu and not have a happy meal.

Why, in a world full of vegan options, has McDonalds got this all wrong?

I don’t think you’re unreasonable—McDonald’s menu does have some vegan-friendly options like the McPlant and fries, though choices can be limited depending on location. It really just comes down to personal preference and convenience.

A McPlant meal is my treat every time I have to make a long journey. Love them.

Local burger shop does either a bean burger or a mostly potato with a few bits of carrot sweetcorn and other unidentifiable veggies veggie burger. It's the McPlant all the way for me. Although why local shops can't use a proper veggie burger (Beyond Burger type) I don't know. The McPlant is not as good as a Beyond Burger but it still hits the spot.

It’s not macdonalds fault if people aren’t buying the vegan option. As with any food it will have a shelf life and if they are consistently throwing large amounts away then it’s not cost effective so they’ve pulled it as a menu option which seems perfectly reasonable. Hopefully their product development teams will be working on an alternative.

The old veggie deluxe was lovely. I’m not even veggie and love a cheese burger but I’d tend to get the veggie deluxe instead. The alternative with the 2 veggie sticks was awful and tasteless. It wouldn’t take much to offer some nicer veggie fingers or fake chicken nuggets/dippers that could also double up as a wrap or burger filling. Surely they lose sales of regular burgers where groups have a veggie/vegan or 2 among a number of meat eaters as well so it’s short sighted to say they just don’t sell loads of the veggie option.

Interesting. It's nothing like the Beyond Burger that can be bought in supermarkets.
