Gym leggings

I am new to working out

bought a few leggings from amazon

some are so thin, some just keep rolling down, some are too loose around the groin

Can anyone recommend me some lovely fitting workout leggings or is perfection impossible? Is this just how they are? I don't have to buy from amazon btw just needed some quickly!

I'm not a fan of Sweaty Betty power leggings, but I'll be in the minority there! I just find the waist is a weird height, and the length isn't quite right for me. I like Happy Stride leggings, and they also have a drawstring waist which is great, and I also like Love Lissie leggings. LL are definitely a thicker fabric than HS but neither are see through and both have really secure phone pockets. The HS ones also have a zip pocket in the waistband, which means I can store my car key securely without having to clip it to my bra strap!

Thewonderfuleveryday · 27/01/2026 16:56

My sweaty Betty's aren't that great. They don't have a high enough waist. The triangle shaped side pocket is rubbish too as it squeezes my phone out. I'm forever hoiking them up.
M&S Good Move are too big on the waist.
My jumble sale fabletics are amazing. Front zip pocket so my keys and card don't dig in when I'm doing crunches and two side pockets. Love them. But their london shop has shut so I can't even go and see what other styles fit me.
I prefer summer so I can wear shorts.

Doyouthinktheyknow · 27/01/2026 16:57

Love sweaty Betty leggings but I buy them on vinted. They are so comfy and I can do deep squats in them. None of that bum scrunch nonsense either.

Love the brightly patterned ones.

Word of warning, if you're going to be doing any trail runs or anything cross country then wear your cheapest leggings. I'm sick of ruining good leggings on bramble tears. so keep my Amazon dead-cheap leggings for those!

LostThestral · 27/01/2026 17:08

As a larger lady I find Llama Leisure do great leggings

Wiltedgeranium · 27/01/2026 20:10

My best ever were reebok, but they don't seem to make that type anymore.
I've done all sorts over the years.
Current best are nike pro. Only leggings I don't need one hand to pull up when I'm running. High waist, light.

I went to the gym last night and ran on the treadmill in shorts - it reminded me that I do prefer shorts and actually there's no reason I can't walk to the gym in joggers over the shorts (for warmth) and just take them off when I get there!

M&s good move wash v well and you can try them on. There's a string you can tie as well
Decathlon cheaper but spent my entire run hitching them up....

I was just coming here to say the opposite way round! Love both but my M&S seem a bit big on me now and I have to hitch them up. But I like the tie waist. Decathlon are snug & great for the price. I’m considering getting a few more pairs.

You can get brand new sweatty betty leggings op on vinted for £30

Squirrelchops1 · 29/01/2026 22:00

Sweaty betty power leggings without a doubt. I buy off vinted though as rather £££. Never an issue with rolling down or being see through etc

Literally never had this problem with sweaty betty. I'll walk for 4 hours with the dog and phone never moves, it is a deep pocket and even the normal leggings are high on waist. These are power leggings. I wonder of youre wearing a different type or if theyre fakes?

notatinydancer · 30/01/2026 10:45

Sweaty Betty , I got some in the sale.

Crz Yoga on Amazon or Glowmode on Shein. Both excellent.

I love a bit of glow mode - some great tops and the leggings are super comfy but they are certainly not squat proof!

dementedpixie · 26/01/2026 21:38

I like matalan leggings.

Another vote for Matalan leggings! They have the phone pocket, nice and thick, hold you in and squat proof! I have some nice dark leopard print ones I wear all the time!

Badslipperluck · 30/01/2026 18:50

Also adanolas are really nice, comfy, not see through, no camel toe, but they're unfortunately made for the slightly chunkier of lower leg. My recommendation would be to try some different ones on because body shape matters!

Shoes232 · 30/01/2026 22:05

Adanola, jluxe, lily bod and glo mode

Sweaty Betty 7/8 power gym leggings. They’re expensive but they’re the best I’ve ever worn. They often have sales where they’re half price and if you sign up as an insider you get 50% off in your birthday month.

Agree with this!
Also under armour heat gear ones have served me well!

giddyaunt19 · 31/01/2026 00:17

OP so many good recommendations here.

unfortunately my leggings collection is about to grow exponentially as I test all the different options mentioned on this thread. Pray for my bank account 😭🤣

I’m considering LNDR. Super expensive but good sales. Would love to hear if anyone has tried them?

I love my Uniqlo leggings - soft and don’t fall down. I’m less keen on my Sweaty Betty ones tbh. They do fall down a little and I like super high waisted as a personal preference.

I would HIGHLY recommend Born Nouli - excellent leggings. I have had pairs I’ve worn for years that look and feel perfect. Lovely prints etc these are without a doubt the best I’ve ever had and I defected from Lululemon to them!

They are all I wear. They are the best I’ve ever worn. I used to wear sweaty Betty power leggings a few years back when they were the best I’d found. Then they went downhill massively so I hunted around and found LNDR. They are better than power ever were. I wear the Fatal. I’ve also got Chisel which are incredibly snug to get into but good when on but I prefer a classic smooth legging over a knit type

they are like SB power when they were at their best but even better.

Focusispower · 31/01/2026 10:51

Thanks @bumptybum that is good to know….i think I may treat myself although also think I’ve missed the sale!

Yes I am forever on the hunt for a decent top.

They all seem to be too short on me and stop at my fattest bit.

I don't want baggy, nothing worse than doing a plank or some other torture that the instructor gives you and your top flapping down towards your head showing everything off.

My current ones are Bravissimo and will need changing soon as they've lasted 7 years already.

Just a quick note to say that my B.A.M. tops arrived today, and they are perfect. Sizing not an issue.
