Gym leggings

Nezukokamado · 26/01/2026 21:32

I am new to working out

bought a few leggings from amazon

some are so thin, some just keep rolling down, some are too loose around the groin

Can anyone recommend me some lovely fitting workout leggings or is perfection impossible? Is this just how they are? I don't have to buy from amazon btw just needed some quickly!

I have these leggings from Amazon and really like them - good pockets for phone, feel soft, don't bag, not see-through.

Tops are a whole different ballgame though, and if anyone has any recommendations for tops that don't have strategic holes, loads of layers (I get too hot), don't flap about and gape, short sleeves, decently high neck and aren't plastic, I'd love to hear them. Have been looking at the B.A.M. ones, but stocks really low.

Decathlon very good generally. I bought some more recently which were good, but I'm still also wearing some Kalenji running tights which cost about £9.99 ten years ago and seem to have mysteriously fitted me between sizes 16-18 down to size 10 and still have not split or gone into holes!

Also more recently I bought RXRXCoco on Amazon. Can't testify to their longevity but they are a nice fit and quality.

Nike One leggings - they’re my all time favourite! Super soft, completely opaque, don’t roll, high comfortable waist. I live in mine

These look great!

If anyone ever needs shorts the best I have found are Baleaf from Amazon in the 8 inch length.

Crz Yoga on Amazon or Glowmode on Shein. Both excellent.

DuchessofStaffordshire · 27/01/2026 12:29

As others have said, you really don't need to spend a fortune and go for the more popular brands. I've just picked up a couple of pairs from decathlon for a steal. They're supportive, have a pocket, fit nicely and are squat proof. I also have some from the bigger supermarkets which I've found comparable to more expensive pairs. I do a lot of heavy gym based training, run and climb so have definitely put them through their paces. Also, Lidl often have good, cheap gym wear if you keep your eyes peeled.

Thundertoast · 27/01/2026 12:39

Aybl have loads of different options and colours and you can find them on Vinted, not sure how they would hold up for running though.

Yes I am forever on the hunt for a decent top.

They all seem to be too short on me and stop at my fattest bit.

I don't want baggy, nothing worse than doing a plank or some other torture that the instructor gives you and your top flapping down towards your head showing everything off.

My current ones are Bravissimo and will need changing soon as they've lasted 7 years already.

Limth · 27/01/2026 13:12

Sweaty Betty did fantastic Athlete vests for a while - really clingy, didn't ride up, really nice elastic-y material. But I've only ever managed to get these on Vinted. I think they're really old.

Then they changed the formula so that seem better at sweat-wicking but are constantly riding up. Then they just made all their tops huge so even the XXS is too bloody big - I'm not a tiny skinny mini.

So, yes, always on the hunt for good gym top recommendations!

user1471457354 · 27/01/2026 13:13

Adanola - I bought two pairs about 3 years ago and they are still in great condition and I wear them all the time!

Lunab18 · 27/01/2026 13:23

ASOS 4505 leggings with a tie waist, been buying the for over 5 years, they are fab and only £18. I have just picked some new ones up on vinted too so you could pick up a bargain pair to try.

WinWhenTheyreSinging · 27/01/2026 13:24

(Sorry @Nezukokamado - hijacking your thread to general gym wear!)

I think these B.A.M. tops look great, but a few reviews say they come up small so am thinking I'd need a 12, and stock is useless. Does anyone have them and can report?

Bam are lovely, soft, easy to put on and off

SeeSawSeen · 27/01/2026 13:51

These t-shirts are the absolute business for workouts! Light but very good quality. They skim rather than cling and are a great length.

Their leggings are fab too, but I use them as my day-to-day leggings and have a separate exercise stash. This thread is making me realise I have way more leggings than I will ever need😆

I really like my Born Nouli leggings but I've recently starting buying sets from h&m. I'm sure Sweaty Betty and Lululemon and great but I couldn't justify the price. I do go to SB for sports bras though and their customer service seems great

FringeTime · 27/01/2026 14:04

Sweaty Betty, Born Nouli, BAM (these are my favourite)

Lottie6712 · 27/01/2026 14:08

I like ones from Decathlon

AFavourPlease · 27/01/2026 15:36

Another vote for sweaty betty power (7/8 for me because I’m only 5’1”). They’ve seen me through CrossFit and a half marathon, they don’t budge, come in nice patterns, have a zip pocket at the back and wash really well. Each pair is worn and washed at least once every week and they still look like new despite being 2 years old

Try Lululemon swiftly tech. They come in different lengths of both the top and the sleeves. I use them for both Pilates/yoga and body pump and they stay put. The long sleeves do in have thumb holes in the cuffs, but they are discreet and tuck away so it's like not having the hole if you don't want to use them

Try Lululemon swiftly tech. You can get hip length ones. They are slim fit without being clingy, super flattering and stay put doing yoga/Pilates/body pump. I have large boobs and a slim waist and they fit nicely (noticed you mention bravissimo, which I think cater for larger cup sizes)

blueluce85 · 27/01/2026 16:24

Haven't rtft so sorry if been said...H&M are good and also do ones with pockets!

sickofsixseven · 27/01/2026 16:29

Athleta are my favourite leggings and they do tops that have grips and dont roll up at all which is great

SheshesheShineOn · 27/01/2026 16:39

Llama Leisure do pockets and 7/8 and capri length. There's an active range and a normal one - the active claim to be squat proof but I've got one of each and cant tell the difference now. Their sizing is also something like 8-12 and 14-18, so if the gym makes a difference you wouldn't have to buy new ones right away. Also third/fourth CRZ from Amazon

BeachLifeoOhLaLa · 27/01/2026 16:49

I like compression leggings, currently 2xu are my favourites though I like Skins ones too (more for running and in warmer weather)
