Apparently I'm a bra size 30GG!!!

So I've been breast feeding for about 18mths now and let's just say all the meat has gone from my boobs! They were a lovely, pert 34D pre baby and now look like sagging, 2inches lower, deflated balloons.....
Out of interest, I thought I'd do the boob or bust online measurements to see what sort of bra size I'm potentially looking at now they've changed shape etc and apparently I'm a 30GG!!! How is this possible when they're sagging and lost top volume/fullness?! Is this even a plausible size in real women? I'm loathed to spend £40 on a bra thats a 30GG only to have to send it back hugely disappointed.
Anyone else done the boob or bust measurements and actually fit into the size stated/recomended?
YNBU - Enjoy your apparently giant boobs and buy lots of new fabulous bras
YABU - Your delusional of your saggy post breastfeeding boobs and stick to drab sports bras

YABU to ask if this is a plausible size… of course it is.
But seems odd to go from 34 to 30 unless you’ve lost lots of back fat since you were last measured.

AnnaMagnani · 25/01/2026 12:09

Had you done Boob or Bust pre-baby? I think you are shocked as you have gone from a 34D to a 30GG but presumably you were actually a 30 band all along.

30F (the sister size to 34D) to 30GG doesn't sound such a shocking change.

Or wearing the wrong size to begin with, im a 32ff but used to wear a 34dd

dementedpixie · 25/01/2026 12:10

Im guessing your last bra was fitted by adding 4 to your under bust measurement giving a bra too big in the back and too small in the cup

330ml · 25/01/2026 12:11

I got fitted in Bravissimo and came out with 28FF and a 28G. Different brands.

It sounds enormous but it isn’t at all.

I went from a 32 to a 28 just by walking into the fitting room. There isn’t any fat on my back.

dementedpixie · 25/01/2026 12:11

I was fitted as 40C by M&S but am actually 36GG
You were probably in the wrong size pre baby

Interesting! I just wore a 34D because it was whatsoever to fit and give me a relatively decent shape.
I don't understand what a sister size is? Surely a 34D is just that??

Yes it’s a plausible size. For example I’m a 32GG/30H
most women wear incorrectly fitting bras. If you’re now a 30 band it’s likely your 34DD was wrong in the first place.
band size is roughly clothing size+20.
the correctly fitting bras may well feel “tight” to begin with but the support mainly comes from the band not the straps.
you might find you need a different shaped cup now you’ve lost volume. I mostly wear balcony style as I’m bottom heavy and other shapes have gaping cups.
if you have a look at bra volume size 30GG doesn’t actually equate to massive boobs.

DierdreBarlow · 25/01/2026 12:14

I did a boob or bust measurement and I was very careful to follow the instructions. It told me I was a different size to what I had been wearing so I went and bought some bras in my 'correct' size. I couldn't even get the buggers done up at the back!

I was measured years ago in M&S but im guessing their methods are outdated?
The lady just told me that the 34D i was wearing looked good and if it felt loose o could go up to a 32DD

I was a 30GG before baby - I didn’t feel that big in a well fitting bra. I’m a 32H now.

isitmytime · 25/01/2026 12:17

This is what I meant. The volume of the cup stays the same when the size by number increase

Apparently I'm a bra size 30GG!!!

All of us are shocked the first time we have a proper measurement not an M+S measurement

If pre-baby you had just guessed your size then a proper measurement is going to be a shock.

A sister size is a bra with the same cup volume on a different size back. This is because cup size is relative to back size so a D on a 30 back is smaller than a D on a 36 back
So 34D = 32DD = 30E = 28F with regards to cup volume

Apparently I'm a bra size 30GG!!!
Boredoflunch1 · 25/01/2026 12:18

How long since you stopped BFing?

I wouldn't rush to buy anything for a few months. My breasts seemed to shrink and shrink in the months afterwards.

Perhaps a supermarket cheap one for the meanwhile until you're settled?

TheChosenTwo · 25/01/2026 12:18

I found boob of bust to be utterly useless for me, I’ve got absolutely no volume in my boobs at all so when I do the leaning over measurement it presumes I’ve got volume to match the measurement - I haven’t!
I’ve used it to try a huge variety of bra styles but they just don’t fit at all, way too big. I don’t have much in the way of fat. I just now pick up a bra off the shelf in my back size (about 30) and go with a B. It’s comfortable and if I choose the style right there isn’t a load of excess cup.
So many people rave about BoB so it obviously works for most but I have very wide set boobs with a big gap of nothingness in the middle and they’re generally small and saggy - it doesn’t work for me so I just go my own way 🥴

The 32DD is a sister size of the 34D

Furlane · 25/01/2026 12:19

I always used to wear a 34B. I did the boob or bust method and came out a 32E. I have tiny boobs, no meat on them at all! I ordered a bra in that size from M&S and it fits fine. The cup is bigger and goes under my armpit (which I think it’s supposed to), but the volume of the cup is very small if that makes sense. Like strapping two pancakes to my chest. It takes a bit of getting used to the fit, and to be honest I rarely wear a bra as I don’t need the support (usually just wear a crop top under a top).

Boredoflunch1 · 25/01/2026 12:20

@TheChosenTwo I think we're boob sisters. By BoB I'm 32F, if I put that bra on there's nothing to fill it. I get 32B or C depending on the cut.

Silverstag · 25/01/2026 12:22

What dress size are you. Generally a 10 wood be a 30 back, 12 a 32 back etc. I always wore a 34 too until I did boob and bust and am now is a 30 which actually fits so much better. It’s a bit of a shock at first as the band is snug but that’s what is important to give shape and support. Could you go to a Bravissimo for a fitting?

SheSpeaks · 25/01/2026 12:28

Buy lots of fab new shiny bras no matter what, you deserve it!

I know I am smaller (30E over here) but even at an E I most often wear a bralet as they are so small, don’t need much containment, and I don’t have a sport bra despite doing regular sports and running, they don’t really need it. I’m wearing no bra of any kind today and it makes no difference really!

In a world where we were raised to think Pamela Anderson had DD cups I think it’s important to claim back the perception of cup sizes be we large or small!

Thats what im worried about! A size 30 back strap just sounds sooooo tight! I'm about an 10/12 dress size on top but size 12/14 from the waist down

BauhausOfEliott · 25/01/2026 12:33

It’s a plausible size. The vast majority of women wear a band size that’s too big and a cup size that’s too small.

I’m a 34GG/H but when I lost a lot of weight I was a 30-32GG.

If you have a Bravissimo near you, get them to fit you.

Please dont say that! I'm terrified they're going to disappear to nothing!!!
I'm still night feeding but they dont fill anymore like they did in the first few moths where they'd noticeably deflate after a feed and then fill up again iyswim. They seem to have settled at one size now for a few months so I was hoping this is it and wanted to treat myself to a few nice bras.

Auroraloves · 25/01/2026 12:35

I measured using b&b and found the band size too tight and I couldn’t really breathe!! So I went up a band and down a cup and felt better
