Im.talking abt reform leader, not starmer.

Yes, but when you're being assaulted it is better it worry about your current attacker than someone who think might looks dodgy down the street,.

Absolute bullshit. You're embarrassing yourself. Starmer would be in Davos if he wasn't worried about having to talk to Trump.

He's the PM. Farage is just an MP.

I was referring to @Dragonflytamer comment about attendance at DAVOS.

It's crazy isn't the current PM doesn't attend the world leaders meeting, yet the next PM does.

Starmer choose to prioritised making little jokes about Jenerick at PMQs that working with the other world leaders to make an impact.

Ablondiebutagoody · 21/01/2026 13:38

Still preferable to Starmer. Saw him on PMQs today, tying himself in knots over the Chagos deal *. The guy is a fucking buffoon.

  • If Greenlanders should determine the future of Greenland, why is he shafting the Chagosians?

You can thank Liz Truss for the issue with the Chagos Islands.

The previous Conservative government commenced the process and negotiated the deal. Sunak was smart enough to matters and then call a snap election enabling him to pass the poison chalice on.

The same also with the Chinese embassy; it was Boris Johnson, when Foreign Secretary, that asked his aide to assist the Chinese and recommend a site. Yet again, the inept and ineffective Conservative government kicked the can down the road.

I did not vote for the Labour Party but without doubt they have been left to deal with so many issues that the previous government failed to tackle. And they are doing it at a time when billionaires and corporations with vested interests control our media.

Keir Starmer, as a KC and an ex-DPP, could earn millions in the private sector. He must feel a strong pull to public service to put himself through this, otherwise why bother.

Just look across the pond at the US, Trump has used public office to enrich himself in a way that redefines greed.

There are clear legal reasons for handing back the Chagos Islands. BBC news website has a very good article about it

Lopteluga · 21/01/2026 14:43

I’ve no time for Reform at all but in fairness, I know a fair number of highly competent, senior people who are hopeless with day to day admin like expenses claims and don’t know one end of a computer from another. I can remember one, a truly brilliant lawyer, who would literally ask the most basic IT questions imaginable. Yet when it came to a highly complex legal issue or strategic thinking he was just exceptional.

That said, I agree, Farage and his band are hopeless.

BIWI · 21/01/2026 13:53

I tell you what, why not have a Google and read about why the Chagos Islands were handed back to Mauritius - and why the Americans (including Trump) agreed with that.

Oh, and also, that it was the Conservative Party that set the whole thing in train,

Educate yourself for goodness sake.

What do you mean by "handed back to Mauritius"?

Agree that the Tories started the ball rolling. I would choose Farage over them too.

You can't have it both ways. Either the Conservatives have made nothing but bad decisions for the past 14 years or they haven't. Why is everyone using them starting the Chagos negotiations as justification for Labour making a bad decision. A bit like the Chinese embassy.

Are you aware what the the latest Tory defector to Reform said. Awks.

Andrew Rosindell penned a letter in 2020 warning Mr Biden that failure to "decolonise" Chagos was causing international anger. He voiced his hopes that the US would help bring an end to "historic injustices" - and said Britain was committed to returning the islands to Mauritius.

Clubbiscuit · 21/01/2026 14:53

Farage is a vile, money-grubbing, used car salesman. He offers nothing but misery and poverty for ordinary people.

Also, I think Starmer is doing a good job. No matter what the media present him as. He’s not charismatic but I don’t need that.

A difference of opinion within a political party? Who cares?

Andrew Rosindell 🤣

Hopefully Farage will be our next PM. The reform bashing is getting boring. We are a democracy, I vote reform everyone else can vote for whoever they want. I don’t need to explain my reasons for my vote nor does anyone else. I respect others views and opinions, why do mine as a reform voter deserve insults and ridicule?

Oh come on. Us lefties get loads of abuse and ridicule. Labour gets bashed to bits every day. It is all part of the political hurly burly, I'm afraid.
