I've just seen on news that the Reform leader can't do computers and put in hisxexpenses months late. Do people really want someone like that as PM. Oh god give me strength.

I think you have rather missed the point.

Which was what? Why is opinion in Romford so crucial?

Dragonflytamer · 21/01/2026 15:26

PandoraSocks · 21/01/2026 15:02

Oh come on. Us lefties get loads of abuse and ridicule. Labour gets bashed to bits every day. It is all part of the political hurly burly, I'm afraid.

Edited

Labour gets bashed because of Labour's actions in government. 13 major u turns so far with Jury Trials, Mansion Taxes both still be announced. The promised benefit reform kicked into the long grass to appease spineless back benchers. Two of the biggest tax raising budgets ever. One despite claiming the first was fully funded no-ifs no-buts. I voted labour for change - I'm so disappointed that Reform get my vote next time.

What do you mean by "handed back to Mauritius"?

Agree that the Tories started the ball rolling. I would choose Farage over them too.

Here. Maybe this will help you:

Why are they being returned to Mauritius now?
Since the 1980s, Mauritius has claimed sovereignty over the islands and pursued its case through international courts and tribunals. In 2019, the international court of justice (ICJ), the principal judicial organ of the United Nations, ruled in a non-binding judgment that the process of decolonisation of Mauritius was not lawfully completed when it was granted independence in 1968 and that the UK was “under an obligation to bring to an end its administration of the archipelago as rapidly as possible”.

From this explainer article:

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2026/jan/20/what-are-chagos-islands-uk-mauritius-explainer

What are the Chagos Islands – and why is the UK returning them to Mauritius?

Donald Trump has called the plan to transfer sovereignty ‘stupid’ and linked it to his own push to acquire Greenland

Still preferable to Starmer. Saw him on PMQs today, tying himself in knots over the Chagos deal *. The guy is a fucking buffoon.

  • If Greenlanders should determine the future of Greenland, why is he shafting the Chagosians?

Isn’t it weird how all of a sudden everyone (who hates Labour) has a very strong opinion for a place they probably couldn’t even find on a map with a big arrow pointing to it.

It's crazy isn't the current PM doesn't attend the world leaders meeting, yet the next PM does.

Anyone remember when Kinnock was the next PM? Next PM isn't a thing, he's the possible next PM if he is still reform leader in 2029 and reform can command a majority. Neither is certain.

Obviously.... But on balance of probabilities he will. Labour need a fucking miracle to stay in.

Kingscallops · 21/01/2026 16:04

..and Labour are really competent. Not.

Well i suppose if he's in davos, that shouldnt be too difficult to ascertain.

I was obviously talking about the Russian stuff 🙄

And Farage has never flip-flopped, eh? Never gone back on anything he's said? Never reversed any policy ideas or changed his stance on anything? Like say, the 2 child benefit cap? Deporting women & children? Or all of his endless shit-slinging at Tories like Dorries, Jenrick and Zahawi, only to slime all over them when they defect.

Goldenbear · 21/01/2026 17:28

Who is looking at the U.S. at the moment and thinking they want a bit of that here!

Well , eyeroll, he certainly gives the impression of being in it for the money. And if you can ASCERTAIN that, you should have gone to Specsavers.

Once Farage is elected as Prime Minister on a manifesto and decides to do virtually nothing within it or try but then u turn on every point - I will be just as disappointed in him.

Maybe he could just get one of his party doners to buy him some glasses..... Oh that was Starmer again.... Wouldn't even buy his own clothes....

Ah ha ha ha ha. I'm not on benefits, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with my brain. I just wonder what people are going to say when Reform gets in though, and the whole country is cocked up within a year. What tripe are the supporters going to come up with then in the way of excuses. No doubt the oily leader will get away with it and it will be everybody else's fault.

I thought Reform's biggest supporters were in some of the most deprived areas of the country with some of the highest levels of benefits (not that that's a problem) but yet should certainly look at the 24 manifesto before putting a cross next to Reform as like in the U.S. they have lots of charming ways to cut benefits and will not have any moral concerns about doing so!

Possible similar excuses to Labour voters now one year into the shittest government in history. I very much doubt Reform will be so keen to tax the country into the ground.

Goldenbear · 21/01/2026 17:52

If you are on benefits don't bite for Reform, they don't give a flying fuck about you!

Absolute bullshit. You're embarrassing yourself. Starmer would be in Davos if he wasn't worried about having to talk to Trump.

And that would make sense, given that Starmer is a world leader.

Farage is a back-bench MP for a seaside town he doesn’t govern a flying fuck about.

Goldenbear · 21/01/2026 17:52

Labour have all the power to stop people voting reform. They just need to stop being so shit! Starmer has a majority - the incompetence is entirely self induced.

Niche opinion. Most Brits prefer literally anyone to Farage.

No . They'll just dismantle the NHS so that with the new benefit from the changed tax threshold you'll end up paying £40,000 for a hip operation. So you wont in real terms gain any money at all. You'll be worse off.
