ICE agent shoots woman in the face.

Eyesopenwideawake · 07/01/2026 21:18

It had to happen; in Minneapolis a woman in a car was shouting at the multiple ICE agents. One tried to open her car door, she started to drive away and was shot 2 (3? 4?) times in the head.

Trump is blaming her. Fucking hell.

EDIT BY MNHQ - Though the footage of this incident is in the public domain, we have removed the link originally included in this thread as we believe it could cause distress.

You all know a mother died? As a result of a law enforcement guy not being trained properly to de escalate a situation ?
A mother.
Of a 6 year old.
And this is a forum for mums.

and you're chatting very calmly about a mother being shot in the face 3 times...

You do know I’m not condoning it and think it’s horrific. I’m arguing against the point that shooting the driver is a better option than shooting the tyres. They absolutely shouldn’t have been shooting at all.

Whatwerewetalkingabout · 08/01/2026 10:26

America has gone batshit fucking insane. I can't believe the amount of people on here, from what I can only assume are mostly American posters, justifying a public execution of a woman, just because an agent lost their fucking temper. Jesus wept.

Its actually terrifying the mentality of that lot, and they have far too much world power. The mask has truly slipped.

Mumsnet is British site. There are too many right wing Americans on it at the moment.

In the past I've always thought it was good to listen to views from people from other countries.

Trump, is despicable, dangerous and increasingly blathering megalomaniac - disregarding the rights of other countries and charters drawn up after WW2.
He's often supported by people of lower than average intelligence or those out to make a fast buck.

MN - I genuinely have NO desire to hear or see the views of Trump supporters on this site. It's not X or insta - it's our British site for mums and I NEVER want to read justification of murder by police on here. That is a step to fascism.

@RingoJuice - I hope you can stay in the US and contribute to sites in Alabama or wherever you're from.

I’m an expat. Sorry that you are getting diverse opinions you don’t like hearing.

People all like ‘why do Trump voters support this?!’ but never want to hear your reasons

Yes, the man seen walking up and back down the street after shooting a civilian got in a car, left the scene and went to hospital. Meanwhile the person shot in the face wasn't allowed medical attention from a doctor at the scene, none of the ICE officers appeared to be attending to her at all, then was pulled out of the car and carried way down the street before scene before cpr was started......
Do you really believe he required admitting to a hospital from what you saw on video? He didn't fall backwards or stumble which you'd expect if this really was violent contact with a vehicle that was rapidly accelerating because the specific intent was to harm the officer, and he was able to accurately shot her in the face

It doesn't matter how badly he was injured by the car, he was hit as shown in the video. He could have a bruised toe and the shooting response would still be normal and justified over there. She accelerated into him, he shot her. There seems to be a desire for the agent to protect her from her decisions to his own detriment. He's at work and she's a crazy coming at him with a car.
I think she should have been allowed access to medical care, but with three shots to the head what care could reasonably be given. If there was a doctor trying to give care they should have been given access. Everything else is the down to this woman's own actions.

The vast majority of us did not release him onto the world. Sixty-eight percent of the electorate did NOT vote for him. (Turnout was 64% and just under half of that voted for him, so just less than 32% of the electorate voted him in.) And in 2012, three million MORE of us voted for Hillary than for him, and we voted him out in 2016. He only squeaked through, and the Electoral College system got this through in 2012. The Democrats ran a bad campaign so too many of them stayed home. I don't think anyone thought the crazy orange man would get re-elected, having voted him our before. I thought he was being ridiculous to stand again. But here we are.

I understand your feelings, but please do remember that almost seventy percent didn't want him!

The third who stayed at home are almost as culpable as those who actively voted for him. Someone who doesn't bother to vote can't complain about the result.

I think Trump will be out next time anyway

Teddleshon1 · 08/01/2026 10:29

Just stop trying to drive people off because they have different views. If something happens o/s I want to hear from people there.

If you don’t want that take it up with mnhq or see if there’s a site that limits posting locations.

Or as we call them, 'far right propaganda'. I don't need to go anywhere thanks perhaps you could if you don't like my reminders of its roots!

The shooter - who was NOT a police officer, fired into her face through the driver window. Watch the footage and stop twisting the truth. Shame on you.

The federal agent who tried to stop her remained at the side of the vehicle. The shot was fired through the front, which means the vehicle was travelling towards the agent who fired. when an armed federal agent tells you to stop, why do you think somebody should be able to drive away and use their vehicle as a weapon on another agent? You are the one supporting killing or injuring somebody, because you don’t agree with their role or politics.

Stop twisting the narrative.

America used to be a beacon of hope. The land of the free. Now it feels like it’s turning its back on Europe and threatening Greenland and Canada. Is this what American people really want for their country?

You now have a city threatening to bring out the National Guard to protect its citizens from government officials. What will happen if Trump wangles another term?

I bet all of this is going to be a killer for tourism
to
America.

When I was growing up America was Indiana Jones fighting the Nazis, I mean even if that was debatable, what has happened!

Totally.

He shot her from the side.

The bullet entered the front windscreen. How did it do that if the agent was at the side of the vehicle? Perhaps it came from the agent IN FRONT OF THE VEHICLE WHO SHE WAS DRIVING TOWARDS???

DD used to want to move to America. She's just said no to a free/cheap holiday in the US because she's worried she will be shot for being gay/different.

If the ICE agent acted out of fear and not deliberate murder (which is doubtful, going off the footage), then their training is appalling.

I was told by UK firearms officers that they are trained to expect the public to act irrationally when faced with armed officers and practice multiple situations over and over and over until the response to de-escalate the situation by lowering their weapons when safe to do so is automatic.

What happened to me was that I was in the kitchen, slicing watermelon, when I heard banging and scuffling outside the backyard. There was a 12-foot solid brick wall between me and the noise, so I couldn't see anything. I opened the gate to see what was happening and found myself in the middle of 6 armed men.

They were clearly police, but that didn't register at the time. My brain shut down, and I froze. I could hear them shouting, but I don't think it registered that they were shouting at me to go back inside until after one of them pushed me back inside and closed the gate, upon which I walked back inside in a daze, told DH there were men with guns in the alley, and burst into tears.

An hour later, the officer who pushed me safely back into my garden came to check I was OK and assured me I was never in any danger. Their training is robust; they practice every possible scenario over and over until their reactions are instant before they are ever allowed to handle a loaded weapon, let alone be out in public with one. He said even if I had run out of the garden screaming and shouting and waving my arms, their training would have been to lower their guns and safely and calmly apprehend me with as little force as necessary. Only if I had also been armed with a gun and aiming at them would I have ever been in danger of being shot.

Anyone who believes you would behave rationally when armed men are shouting at you is an idiot. Police should be trained to expect this.

Abhannmor · 08/01/2026 10:33

@Pinguuuus I can't imagine many people want to visit the USA right now. It's just too risky and stressful. Sadly , it's hard to see things improving any time soon. Trump and his faction need the chaos and near anarchy. Both to deflect from Epstein and from his general mismanagement. If things get bad enough he could try to cancel the next presidential election or even the mid terms due in November?

There's another three years of this lunacy ahead of us.

The Trump supporters who i have seen blindly supporting Trump on multiple threads are scary. They don't even see it, how they defend him no matter what.

I wonder how supportive they'd be if China or Russia decided they were going to 'take America' the same way he seems to think he has a right to 'take countries'. See whose laughing then. It would be wonderful to tell all his supporters, 'aw sorry no you can't come to the UK...cheerio now! Enjoy eating goulash!'

There are a number of inaccuracies here.

  1. She was told conflicting information: move on and get out of the car.
  2. She was entitled to protest, peacefully, without fear of repercussion.
  3. ICE are not armed police. They do not have the civil powers of arrest/detention that police have.
  4. The footage is clear that she was trying to drive away from them.

This should never have happened. I am shocked that you can condone this.

2021x · 08/01/2026 06:19

Noone thinks this woman deserved to die. She is driving a car towards someone with a gun- the person with the gun could have understandably felt their life was in danger and defended themself.

Use of force in self defence should be "reasonable, proportionate, and the minimum necessary".

In other words, the moment that your life is no longer in danger (like if an escape route opens up) you stop. So even if he was threatened (a very big "if") and the first shot was justified, the second and third (the ones through the side window) were definitely excessive force.

Minnesota is not a "stand your ground" state. You are obliged to retreat if possible.

You still can’t control who posts, whether from the US or anywhere. If it gets to you that much there’s other closed sites where everyone has the same views as you do I’m sure.

To be fair I respond to comments a reasonable amount on occupy democrats (FB) - but I always state I’m in the UK on any response I do. I do think it would be helpful if people responding on a post that affects a particular country stated that they are in that country if it’s not the UK - as this is indeed a based here and UK centric site . I suspect some are not in the US either, just as they denounced this lady as a ‘professional agitator’ - plenty of posters on anything political are ‘professional agitators too’ - just not out on the streets with banners and shouting - not hiding behind anonymous keyboards -which in fact I feel is more honest

Yep you’ve got it idk what you’re insinuating or whatever. If you don’t like US related threads there’s an easy way to avoid them.

It's definitely an education type thing - don't worry about it. You will be able to stumble into your fascist dictatorship more easily and without as much worry or concern by maintaining a lower level of education and understanding of history and past politics.

Us dads who post here are also disgusted by Trump and his ICE goons.

And just look at his "law enforcement". No uniform, decked out like soldier cosplayers. Carrying tricked out guns that might be considered excessive on an actual field of battle.

From photos I have seen of ICE I am certain many of them are not using std issue guns.

Here is a factcheck article I found re what guns they can carry.

Are ICE agents allowed to carry personal firearms on d (factually.co)

From that :

The Homeland Security guidance excerpt on enforcement in or near protected areas provides operational boundaries and procedural constraints for ICE and CBP actions in sensitive locations, but it does not contain a discrete clause about ICE agents carrying personal firearms while on duty [2]. That absence is significant: operational directives often specify authorized equipment and uniformed armaments, yet the excerpts available here focus on location-based limitations and tactics instead. In short, policies governing enforcement locales are present, whereas specific personnel armament authorizations are omitted from these materials.

So basically, gun fetishists who sit polishing their rifles at night dreaming of "shooting commies", appear to be able to use them at work.

This is policy with disaster designed in.
