ICE agent shoots woman in the face.

1000 replies

Eyesopenwideawake · 07/01/2026 21:18

It had to happen; in Minneapolis a woman in a car was shouting at the multiple ICE agents. One tried to open her car door, she started to drive away and was shot 2 (3? 4?) times in the head.

Trump is blaming her. Fucking hell.

Don't blame them to be fair.

Yikes. They were unbelievably savage and inventive in terms of rapes, torture and infantacide. If you're strong stomached, A Fate Worse Than Death: Indian Captivities in the West goes into detail.

Gloriia · 08/01/2026 09:48

Oh yes that would've helped a car moving more erratically.

More so than shooting the driver.

Gloriia · 08/01/2026 09:39

This. I've seen the clips, I've no idea why some are confused. She accelerated toward an armed officer, it is clear. What did she think they would do? Tragic yes but all avoidable if she'd stopped.

Probably not thinking in that second - rationally I’d think that he’d move and I’d ultimately be stopped and arrested.
Police /officers are trained (should be) to understand the fear of a person under a gun, and the fact they may not be thinking, or following orders correctly due to this - or due to getting differing orders, which is another problem in this instance showing ICE difficulty with coordinating with colleagues/or their training.
Thugs with Ltd training, unlimited freedom to act as they like, and guns - this will now happen again and again and with less provocation than people are arguing there was here.
I can’t agree this is ok in any way, shape or form whatever the provocation- there is so much wrong every single step of the way. A big one to me is how the ICE agent was so worried he shot instead of jumping - his mates were so worried for him they didn’t attempt to stop the car/shoot the tyres etc etc
I don’t really know what to say to people who think this is a FAFO and shrug. We will never understand each other and really need to live on separate continents, if not worlds - one ran for one set of thinking, and one for another.
Someone asked upthread about whether it’s equally fine to prevent treatment and move the body from a crime scene - is it? Just wondering how far dehumanisation goes really.

Erin1975 · 08/01/2026 09:58

Nobody's life was in danger in that video. The agent towards the front of the car just stepped aside, drew a gun and fired.

This comes down to whether you think law enforcement officers should be able to shoot people who do not stop when ordered to do so. In the UK that officer would be heading to court on a charge of murder or manslaughter. In the US it seems to vary by state how this sort of thing is dealt with.

EvangelicalAboutButteredToast · 08/01/2026 09:59

I’m going to have to look at the video aren’t I 🙈. My instinct is that there was blame by both parties but obviously shooting a woman three times in the face is a huge over reaction!!!

Is it Tony Benn who said if you want to know how your government would treat you then look at how it’s treating the most vulnerable? It’s been said anyway, and now it’s being shown in what flagged itself a great democracy where you can live the dream - starting with immigrants and moving onto your own citizens - seems some are ok with this - personally find it terrifying.

It’s a thread about the US. It’s going to include those views.

and I have very many dear friends in the US and have worked there.

But the fact there are people in the US, contributing on MN who are prepared to justify a civilian shooting has made me realise how completely different you are.

saying "what was he supposed to do"?
Like he couldn't move out of the way, or not step in front to begin with, or shoot her tyres out, trace her by number plate but instead shoot her not once but 3 times in the face!!

and there are people on here who can say in all good faith "it's sad but she was crazy and what did she expect"..

Listen to yourselves!!! This is the life of a mother that's been taken.

when your police officers think they're above the law and not serving you (as you are paying their salaries via taxes) you are in trouble as a nation!!!
History has shown this on repeat. this is horrifying.

By that same token should UK residents/nationals not comment on anything that is to do with laws in the US or indeed any other country?

Mumsnet is a UK based forum, so it's neither here nor there what the topics cover, it used to be somewhere you could debate with common cultural references like authoritarianism- bad, Nazi playbook - bad because mostly people had grandparents/family either British or European or both that had experienced that conflict on home soil. Lots of strong debate but there was an element of civility and rationality mostly but this is just 'crazed' dressed up as normal and you can't argue with someone who is not sentient!

Yes there was a lot of excitement for Chariie Kirk's murder wasn't there.

This is a tragedy but if you refuse to get out of you car when armed officer tell you to in a volatile situation and then drive towards them I think it should've been obvious to evetyone what would happen.

Teazels · 08/01/2026 10:05

Aside from the blatant murder, the other issue that left me gobsmacked is the ICE culprit shooting willy-nilly with bystanders and other officers close by, anyone could have been caught in the cross fire from a stray bullet or ricochet. It was absolutely appalling to watch and I can't believe a woman lost their life just because she wouldn't get out of her car.

With the ‘yourselves’ I’m not there and haven’t posted on the video. I still don’t think you can control mn as you’ve requested. Mnhq make those decisions, and if it’s just U.K. you’re after then other sites probably limit in that way.

Echobelly · 08/01/2026 10:06

Video looks thoroughly like a terrified woman trying to escape men pointing guns at her. She even steers away from the man towards the front so she is not trying to ruin him down.

Sadly I think the only result from this is ICE agents being handed a license to kill and always be believed when they say it was defence. Its deeply sinister that all the way up to the POTUS, they are smearing this woman they murdered as a violent protestor and they will never stop doing so.

It is truly frightening that half the world appears to have gone mad. The largest, richest democracy on earth now deems it ok to shoot a woman in the face at point blank range and then say she deserved it. (strange that a man standing directly in front of her only managed to fire one bullet through the windscreen, where did the other two shots go?) We should all be very afraid.

Presumably she was accessing one of her amendments to free speech protest?

Regardless of how or why she was there, she was shot in the face when she could have been disabled more efficiently and quickly by tyre shot out, number plate taken and arrested, car door opened and pulled out and hand cuffed.

lIsten to yourself @Ofcoursenot2026 a mother was shot in the face not once but 3 times.

This, he was hospitalised. I'm more surprised that people are surprised she was shot when she rammed an armed agent with her car. She stops her vehicle and sticks to shouting slogans and no one dies.

Yes, the man seen walking up and back down the street after shooting a civilian got in a car, left the scene and went to hospital. Meanwhile the person shot in the face wasn't allowed medical attention from a doctor at the scene, none of the ICE officers appeared to be attending to her at all, then was pulled out of the car and carried way down the street before scene before cpr was started......
Do you really believe he required admitting to a hospital from what you saw on video? He didn't fall backwards or stumble which you'd expect if this really was violent contact with a vehicle that was rapidly accelerating because the specific intent was to harm the officer, and he was able to accurately shot her in the face

EvangelicalAboutButteredToast · 08/01/2026 10:12

Okay I’ve watched it. She didn’t follow instructions, started driving off and a trigger happy federal idiot opened fire. Absolutely ridiculous but that’s the crazy stuff that happens in America. That’s why black people are scared to get pulled over by traffic cops as they could lose their lives. Literally indicative of how the country operates and how it’s operated for ages.
