ICE agent shoots woman in the face.

It had to happen; in Minneapolis a woman in a car was shouting at the multiple ICE agents. One tried to open her car door, she started to drive away and was shot 2 (3? 4?) times in the head.

Trump is blaming her. Fucking hell.

If he was ‘jumpy’ why didn’t he step back? Why did he shoot her in the face?

To be honest, the American police etc have a long history of firing first and asking questions later. 🤷‍♀️

Part of me really hopes the apologists who have spent the night gaslighting and telling bare faced lies on this thread are bots because if they are real I honestly fucking despair. Why is mumsnet allowing this thread to keep running?

I don't have any words for what Trump is doing right now or for the mass social manipulation that is occurring on social media. All I can cling to is that in real life these views still seem to be in the distinct minority. Not sure how long that will last though.

It goes both ways though. If she was scared, why didn't she stop and listen to the officers? Driving away is in no way a good, logical move. She would obviously be tracked down, even if she did get away initially.

Mass social manipulation is happening all over Europe too.

One witnesss said she was told to leave so that’s what she was trying to do then another one told her to get out of the car. You have another person on the sidelines yelling NO repeatedly. The officer that shot her was standing to the side of the car and she clearly panicked and just wanted to leave.
It is not yet clear how she ended up there. She was new to Minneapolis.
Apparently, the officers so called fell on the ice leaving so any injury could have been from the fall.
Meanwhile, back in Salt Lake City there is a mass murder that happened at a funeral.
I swear the USA is imploding .

I wouldn’t stop for masked unidentified men who are well known for being extremely violent and locking people up in holding facilities without charge for days on end. Including US citizens. There seems to be no consequences for poor behaviour from ice.
Local law enforcement are completely against Ice being present in the city.

If ICE wants respect then be respectful. Follow due process. Be able to recognise valid paperwork. Be able to back down and apologise when wrong not double down on it. It is ICE’s behaviour that has fuelled this.

I wouldn't have shown up for the protest and put myself in danger, knowing all that about ICE officers either.

It's clear than no one knows all the facts yet so I'm going to wait until all the details are available, before I lean either way.

I have watched it a few times now. The agent took aim immediately as his colleague grabbed her door. Watch that in slow motion and you'll see what I mean. He was poised to shoot. Also, have you actually seen his demeanour after the shooting? The man calmly walks away as if nothing happened.
You can't throw away a life like it's a tissue, but that's what just happened to the poor woman. There was no violence on her part, she slowly drove away (no speeding). I cannot see the 'threat' here or anything that would justify getting executed in broad daylight on a residential street. Let that sink in: a mother of three refused to get out of her car when masked goons without a badge (they are not police officers and that's a big part of the problem here) grabbed her door handle and she was executed cartel-style by a guy who had immediately taken aim at her. I hope sense, justice and humanity return to the US at some point.

They are law enforcement and they are doing what we voted for them to do: detain and deport illegal immigrants.

We have asked them nicely to leave. We are even giving them money to leave. Many won’t so what do you suggest doing? Nothing?

I don’t think I made it clear in my post that an officer told her to leave and then the other told her to get out of the car. She was clearly panicked.. Who wouldn’t be ? Being given contradictory commands ? Someone yelling No in the background?
as far as the comments that pertain to that she shouldn’t have been there. We don’t know for sure why she was there and even if she was there to be an observer. She was trying to do the right thing as people are getting sick of watching their law abiding neighbors being pulled from houses like animals .The left to rot in jails, often,with no due course of law in extremely poor conditions.

If you crossed the border or overstayed your visa, you should have already made preparations to go home. You cannot just settle in whatever country you’d like, against the wishes of the people who live there.

Im sorry for this outcome, but she should not have been there interfering with deportation measures.

Why didn't she just get out of the car?

What were her intentions?

Perhaps the Native Americans should have put aside their differences, stopped killing each other and united to stop the white settlers, but they didn’t.

I don’t want my country to make the same mistake. There are consequences to failing to secure your borders. That’s one of them.
