Hurray for Venezuela!!

So disappointed but not at all surprised at the reaction from MNetters safe and cosy who have no real idea of what 26 years run by a drug/sex trafficking dictator has been like.

You have no idea.
Reasonable methods of protest have been shut down and punished, elections are a sham. There were not food let alone arms to do a coup.

We needed an outside force. We are not stupid and contrary to comments on the other thread like "Anyone cheering that is as stupid as it is possible to be", we are sceptical but at least now we have a chance.
How dare left wing keyboard warriors be so priveledged to think they know better than people living there.

Hurray!

They are so consumed with hatred for Trump that they would prefer this and anything else he achieves to fail. It’s quite creepy how utterly brain washed and entrenched they are. I sometimes wonder what people who wish for the death of Trump and who dehumanise his supporters as stupid, evil, mentally incompetent, fascist, as so many have on here, would be capable of if ever it came to actual, on the street, civil conflict in their own countries.

His supporters prove their stupidity with every utterance

Thank you for your input. I find it rather odd that people that have never lived in that country have such opposing views. As someone whose parents left a country due to communism, I understand the relief of the Venezuelan people. I hope they find peace and overthrow this regime 💐

AIBU on mn is probably the worst place for the op but same.

RitaFromThePitCanteen · 04/01/2026 21:33

It's interesting, I've seen post after post after post with this wording on social media, on reddit and FB, all cheering about the US's actions and ending it with a line along the lines of "shame on you left wingers sitting safely behind your keyboard."

It's always mentions left wingers. It's like a template.

I mean, if Venezuelans are happy to be free of Maduro, I'm happy for you. It's just weird to see almost exactly the same wording and sentiments popping up over and over, with a focus on "left wingers" of all people. I'd have thought you'd be celebrating, OP, not wagging a finger at random supporters of a political ideology which has nothing to do with your country.

saltinesandcoffeecups · 04/01/2026 21:35

I think this X post sums it up for me…

Haiti.

TooBigForMyBoots · 04/01/2026 21:37

I understand the celebrations. If I was Venezuelan I'd be celebrating Maduro being gone.

However, Trump is not there to Liberate Venezuela, he's there to Occupy Venezuela. Occupation rarely works out well for the occupied nation and Donald Trump is not a good man.

ForRedPoet · 04/01/2026 21:37

shuddacuddadidnt · 04/01/2026 21:25

Fact check - Not all Venezuelans are celebrating. Some want their own sovereignty.

Venezuela suffered for decades, not just from Maduro, but from US sanctions. They even stopped medicine getting to VZ FFS!
What exactly has Trump achieved? There has not been a regime change, but hey, VZ gets to be run by the US and who do you think will end up benefitting from it's oil? Let me guess, not the ordinary hombre en la calle.
I agree that Maduro and his gang needed to be replaced. This has not happened and VZ is not an overnight democratic state because of a US takeover. Be prepared to wait for years while the US rapes Venezuela, unchecked.

Of course we want our own sovereignty!
And as I keep saying, we know Trump is not our saviour. But for the first time in 26 years, there is a tiny glimmering light.

If people don't understand that, then they have no idea what it has been like and are living in their own world of ideals.

I hope it works out for Venezuela and its citizens. The problem is, you really can't trust Trump at all. He might be the lesser evil, but there is a long way ahead to democracy and independence.

I understand what you’re saying OP, there’s a chance, whereas before there was none. Things may not be perfect but they may improve. I get it. But these are champagne socialists who live in Bath and York, they can afford luxury standards and to reject anything that isn’t 100% in keeping with their worldview.

We have been waiting for foreign intervention for over a quarter of a century.
Could it be any worse than what we have endured already? I very much doubt that is even possible.
When Venezuelans are celebrating this, please don't be so big headed to think you know better.

Are the Venezuelans you know pleased that Maduro's vice president is being installed over the party they democratically voted for? Why do they think things will change under her? Surely she was a party to Maduro's abuses over the last seven years?

You do realise that it was the Americans blocking the development of your oil industry. They wanted to starve you into submission. So you're basically celebrating the people who have been abusing your country and your family for decades.

Yes I’m sure you know far more about this than the op 🙄🙄

It's generally bots when that happens. I'm sure the troll farms are working overtime.

Why 'left wingers of all people'? They're the ones organising emergency rallies and petitions condemning the removal of Maduro. Even though it's nothing to do with their country.

China gets majority of its oil from Venezuela. Cream is already scooped from the top of our country. We do no expect all sunshine and roses.

Those saying it is not looking good, can I ask how many friends and family members they have seen murdered by their Government leader? How many have been killed trying to escape their country? How they try and avoid being trafficked by the cartels? How many rats they have eaten as there has been no food?

And it's awful.

However that does not justify Trumps actions. You are literally celebrating the dismantling of a democratic country that has a lunatic dictator at the helm who feels he can do what ever he wants. There is absolutely nothing to celebrate in what Trump did and Im disgusted that EU leaders are being so quite on it.

Whats happening in America is absolutely crazy and everyone should be very worried about it.

I get that. But how do they feel about her, and about that specific issue? She was a party to the abuses. You can't be someone's VP for seven years and not be. Why are people not speaking up about Trump installing someone from the same corrupt regime?
