Is anyone on, or have friends travelling on the 11.15 from Penzance to Edinburgh just now? My son has left his back pack on the train when he got off at Birmingham New Street. A black backpack containing all his stuff! Carriage F5. Can't get any answer on the phone at Lost Property and he has registered on line. Long shot but....please!

Great news! 😁

I stumbled on this thread and so glad to see your update that the bag was found.

My DH left his bag in the train after a liquid business lunch but it was never found. Hundreds of pounds of stuff lost including pricey running trainers and a garmin . So glad your son got his back 😊

Glittertwins · 05/01/2026 18:38

Good news, I bet he’ll pay more attention next time!!

For anyone else who finds themselves in a similar situation,
the quickest way of contacting train crew/other stations is to contact the alighting station. They have the knowledge of who would be best to contact further down the line and retrieve item.

Where was it? 1996?

Still using cheques here….

BoredBirdy · 05/01/2026 19:32

Not quite the same, but put me in mind of when DS had left his school bag on the bus. We jumped in the car and chased it through the rush hour traffic 😆 Such a relief to get it back.

My daughter’s phone once went to London from Somerset and back on its own. We had an anxious few hours but all was well.

My daughter's phone went from Woking to Waterloo. SWR sent it back 2 hours later. Stars!

My son left a tote bag full of random gubbins on the platform at Basingstoke and he collected it all from Waterloo Lost Property a week later. He didn't have a reference number but they kindly handed it over. I expect they were quite glad to get rid of it all!

How can you be an atheist but believe in praying to St.Anthony 😂

You are much less of an atheist than you claim to be.

Only just saw I was quoted so will still answer. I was brought up a catholic. I am most definitely now atheist but I give a nod to St Anthony for old time’s sake. 😁
