What’s your thermostat set to?

My DP really feels the cold and has the thermostat set to 21 degrees from 6.30am til 10pm and 15 degrees at night. If I turn it down to 19 degrees he complains so I just wondered how warm you try and keep your house?

18 degrees, it's our compromise. DH would have it lower and wears shorts and sliders year-round whereas I feel the cold and would be happier if it was on 19. The kids don't seem to notice (ages 5 and 2).

TeideHeart · 28/12/2025 23:14

19 or 20 between 6.30am and 9.30, and 3.30 and 9.30. 17 or 18 during the day, and 8 overnight.

I work from home, so need it on most of the time.

Fidgety31 · 28/12/2025 23:15

16.5 all the time . Turn up to 18 if it’s really cold

TickyTacky · 28/12/2025 23:17

21c all of the time.

CarnationAndPoppy · 28/12/2025 23:19

21C during the day. It cuts in if the temperature drops below 12C during the night.

Thedownwardspiralpath · 28/12/2025 23:21

20 all the time

EuroTour · 28/12/2025 23:23

18° in the day and none at night. Heating doesn't kick in that much as next door seem to heat their house like a sauna.

Minnowmeow · 28/12/2025 23:27

18 degrees during day but the thermostat is in a warm room so some of the other rooms in the house are definitely cooler and it’s set to 9 degrees at night.

LuckyCharmz · 28/12/2025 23:29

2I.5 and off at night.

CocksBolingey · 28/12/2025 23:30

Between 21-23.5 most of the time.

DancingLions · 28/12/2025 23:30

This is one of the reasons I like not having a partner, it’s all my own choice! When I first get up I’ll stick it on 21 until I’m warm (how long that takes is variable). However, no later than 5pm it goes down to 15 and I open my bedroom window wide to make my bedroom cold for bedtime as I’m menopausal and I start to heat up from around 5. By bedtime I’m always hot. Never have the radiator in my bedroom on.

AlexaBeQuiet · 28/12/2025 23:31

21 in the evening
20 in the day
18 overnight
However if at any point I’m feeling cold flip it up 0.5 deg on my phone

Perpetuallywondering · 28/12/2025 23:32

18.5 but only when it’s on, which is 6-9am and 5.30-9pm. Otherwise it would only kick in if it drops below 14. It’s usually around 17 degrees in the house during the day which isn’t what we’d like but it is what we can afford!

ScorchingEgg · 28/12/2025 23:36

CocksBolingey · 28/12/2025 23:30

Between 21-23.5 most of the time.

This. Currently on the higher side as I’m sick and really cold.

mumoronegirl · 28/12/2025 23:41

15 During the day, 18 in the evening and 12 over night.

Twoboysandabengal · 28/12/2025 23:42

22

MrsSkylerWhite · 28/12/2025 23:42

20 atm, lived ones staying.

Its stifling! Usually around 16 daytime, off at night.

MrsSkylerWhite · 28/12/2025 23:43

Loved!

PumpkinSpicedLattes · 28/12/2025 23:43

18°C. It’s on for a few hours in the morning and between 5 — 8 in the evening. Turned off overnight.

researchers3 · 28/12/2025 23:43

20 on a day like today, its cold where i am. But it goes off at bedtime completely and isn't on while im at work or out for a long time.

TeaAndBizcuitz · 28/12/2025 23:48

Usually 20 all day when we're home. Sometimes 21 if still feel chilly. Off at night though will clock on if drops below 15.

CrypticField · 28/12/2025 23:50

6am - 8am 16 degrees
2pm - 8pm 17 degrees

Unless I have guests, then it's on 20 degrees all the time.

I like the house warm but not suffocating, I'm sensitive to heat!

I need a very cool bedroom to sleep well.

Nb14658 · 28/12/2025 23:52

19-20 if at home in the day, 16 during school/work hours, as no one here and then off overnight (23.30-06.30)

Inchworms · 28/12/2025 23:54

TWENTY THREE?
each to their own though of course

18 for a few hours morn/eve, 15/16 in the day, 12 overnight but it doesn’t come on

TheCurious0range · 28/12/2025 23:59

21 6:30-8:30am and 5pm-7:30pm ds gets really hot in bed so we tend to light a fire to keep warm after he goes up. This is weekdays when we're out at school and work weekends it's 7-10 and 4-8 and will boost in the day if we're in and it's needed
