I’ve had a thread end up in the Daily Mail. I was surprised, but also surprised that it didn’t bother me. TBH it was a very mundane thread, and I had had the sense to change some of the details.
What I would advise is to be very aware that every piece of information you post can be attributed back to you if someone cares to put in the work. Look up jigsaw identification/ mosaic effect.
With ever increasing computing power, posts (even on different sites) can even be linked based on quirks of how you phrase things, patterns of grammar, choice of acronyms, regular autocorrect mistakes, how you structure paragraphs, what words you emphasise and how, which emojis you prefer etc.
Link that with the fact that over a few hundred posts on different sites and with different names you could easily have shared that you are a 47 year old divorced woman with 3 kids, born in 2012, 2014, 2018. You lived in Kent until 2018. You now live within 20 minutes of Norwich. You work in a care home. It’s a 10 minute walk from work to your house. Your birthday is in February. Your lucky number is 17 because that’s the day you were born. You have a tall holly tree in your garden. You live on a main road. You love your bright blue door…
It very quickly comes together.
(That was of course a completely fictional example)
