Not sure I am happy about that tbh

I'm pretty sure it's in the T&Cs

But generally consider that anything you share online can and will be shared elsewhere

NoArmaniNoPunani · 28/12/2025 21:22

I wonder if this one will. YANBU. I blame penis beaker

Arlanymor · 28/12/2025 21:23

Mine was on insta and it didn't bother me at all as it's part of the terms and conditions. If nothing else fame at last!!!

CuppaTandBicky · 28/12/2025 21:25

Yeah I hate it and it has put me off posting certain things as I'd be too scared people would guess it was me.

pictoosh · 28/12/2025 21:26

Yes it's shit. It's in the T&Cs but it's still poor.

NancyJoan · 28/12/2025 21:30

If you post your inner thoughts on social media (MN), don’t be surprised if they end up on other social media (FB). MN is free to use but has a significant number of staff, and their business model is based on driving as much traffic to the site as possible. If you don’t like the completely free service, that no one asked you to use, deregister.

Brutallytired · 28/12/2025 21:34

There was one today relating to a child with SEN - the poster didn't specify that in their post as it was posted on the SEN board, but that wasn't at all clear on FB and it attracted lots of snarky comments which was quite upsetting to read. I thought it was out of order to use a post from that area without context.

SereneCoralExpert · 28/12/2025 21:37

I agree

We all know (or we should) that there's nothing "private and safe" or such a thing as a little bubble with a public forum, it doesn't mean we have to like seeing posts appearing on FB.

same here, I posted before Christmas and stupidly thought it was contained to our little bubble.

A friends comment on our private WhatsApp indicated otherwise and I found my post on FB

Its not quite the same now tbh

I get that, but to a degree MN has always been my safe space

I'm.sure HQ have got a lot worse at this recently.
They post everything now, where as before it was the odd thread.
They've even posted threads They've deleted Confused
The only thing you can do is stop posting.

Why on earth would you think that?

this is social media too - just a different channel

if you want to keep something private then don’t post online

CinnamonBuns67 · 28/12/2025 21:54

Yes it puts me off posting

StressedCat · 28/12/2025 21:55

Agreed, however that was how I came to be on here. FB suggested some Mumsnet posts to me and they resonated, so I decided to join.

I think it's very poor of them to choose threads like that to post on other social media, given they know how it'll go.

PhilandKirst · 28/12/2025 22:02

MN has 8 million users and posts regularly end up on the Daily Mail site, which has 40 million users a month. It’s not a safe space or a little bubble. I really wouldn’t put anything on here that you don’t want shared with the world. FB is neither here nor there.

Exactly. Clicks drive traffic and you can't regard anything posted on here as being in a protected bubble.

gardenbouche · 28/12/2025 22:20

I have been here for 22 years, guess I am just naive

OP posts:
AngelWingsS · 28/12/2025 22:27

I posted once and it ended up in the daily mail, mumsnet isn't a safe space at all not sure why you’d think it was.

hobbledyhoy · 28/12/2025 22:28

Something on a previous thread elsewhere stuck with me- If there’s a cost then you’re buying the product, if there’s no cost then YOU are the product.

It reminds me to consider what the angle of various companies are and how they benefit from my data and who they might be selling it to.

RedRiverShore6 · 28/12/2025 22:29

It is the internet and public, it can go anywhere

You're almost worryingly naive tbh

gardenbouche · 28/12/2025 22:57

I just feel a bit stupid tbh

When I joined MN it was all green fields around here
