As a mum on ‘mumsnet’, I find his treatment of his parents incredibly disrespectful. His family certainly aren’t perfect and probably naive but they are hardly Fred & Rose West! GR’s speech was horrible.

That was nearly 15 years ago, though. Trends have definitely moved on and changed since then.
and the second dress from the 90s.
I suppose it would be boring if we were all the same though

Edited

I mean Catherine’s was heavily influenced by Grace Kelly’s which was in the 50s.

Bias cut slip dresses originated in the 30s, had a moment in the 90s and are having another moment now.

Both are classics really.

Well I find his parents’ behaviour abominable. I wouldn’t forgive that personally.

It wasn’t necessary for Gordon to add to the fire though, with his little swipe.

bingalingg · 02/01/2026 15:34

Can someone give me a quick rundown of what’s actually happened? I know he’s had a falling out with his mom and she wasn’t at the wedding, only his sister was ?

What did he say?

My understanding was that he said to Adam how lovely Tana is & that he could look forward to that.

Not so Holly.

So Adam will end up unattractive(like his parents?)

That can't be right!

She wanted to wear cream to the wedding not happy when told no

She confronted Gordon at the engagement party about her extended family not being invited

she with her sister did the big insta posts and interview about not being invited to the hen

More snide posts and interviews

Brother made threats that got him arrested and held for 2 days of questioning.

She made claims she would just turn up at the wedding anyway but did get talked out of it

Dad was still invited but stood by his wife

Extended family lost their invites in among all the drama

Caroline has also been messaging Tana and not happy she’s got no response

Aunty sent that text on the wedding day and yet also claims they are blocked so only the peatys again could have leaked it as he wouldn’t have seen it.

Is most of it I think. So yes just his sister at the wedding as his family apart from his son.

She also was very vocal online when he got kicked off strictly. So it’s not her first rodeo leaking/mouthing off publicly.

I would take that as nothing but a joke during a wedding speech? I don't think it is serous or offensive.

BettysRoasties · 02/01/2026 15:41

Oh and aunty is all over the daily mail comments 🙄

diddl · 02/01/2026 15:45

Maybe.

There's more than likely context that is missing.

Although GR is as ugly as fuck so maybe it's funny coming from him?

Yeah, I don't think he was being serious and as you say if anything referring more to himself.

Candleabra · 02/01/2026 16:00

I think Hollys wedding dress is gorgeous, but why wear it only for a few hours? I never know why celebs have multiple changes of outfit at a wedding. I suppose they can afford it but it always seems to me that they’re trying to cram too much into one day.

Yes that, most unnecessary. I get the impression that the Ramsay’s look down on the Peaty’s and therein lies the root of the problem.

Yes, & Tana would be ‘Mum’ to both…

Well yes because that’s what the Peatys told you to think.

Ramsay is himself working class so I think it highly unlikely they gave a shit.

If they do I suspect it’s due to the behavior of the aunt and mother, rather than because of any class difference.

I don’t believe Gordon Ramsay has claimed to be anything other than working class himself.

TaraRhu · 02/01/2026 18:38

Beckham and Ramsays obviously marry off their most useless kids. All the other Ramsays have actual jobs. She's the only one 'influencing' . Only a matter of time for harper..

HarbourClankCat · 02/01/2026 19:00

I said it on the other thread, but I think the class issue is doing some heavy lifting in the news reports. The Peaty’s live in a perfectly nice, normal semi on the outskirts of a pleasant rural town. I think while parts of it may have originally been a council estate (not that there is anything wrong with that), most properties were bought up years (decades) ago under right to buy and have been extended and improved.

I regularly drive that little road as it’s a short cut via the country lanes. It mostly strikes me as a very well kept neighbourhood contrary to some reports which imply they live in a poverty stricken working class area.

Agree. Plus GR and family come from normal backgrounds (GR’s was a lot rougher than APs could’ve ever been)

honeyrider · 02/01/2026 19:34

Her wedding dress is beautiful and the other dresses too.

There's a bit of a gap between "not perfect" and Fred and Rose West. You can still damage your children without actually murdering them.

What a lovely dress.

All looks so staged though.

They’re wedding photos - many people have staged wedding photos. What a strange comment 😂

As a mum on Mumsnet myself, I can’t imagine talking to a national newspaper about an argument I was having with my son who was about to get married. I find the very public airing of dirty laundry by his family incredibly disrespectful. To be honest, I don’t think there would be a way back from that for me if my mum did that.

So an older woman wearing a cream dress to the wedding was a deal breaker?

Lolabear38 · 03/01/2026 07:18

I love the dress! I think it’s beautiful and she looked lovely.

I also like the trend of changing into a different dress for the evening - especially if the first dress is heavy/ ‘big’ and hard to move around freely in - e.g when dancing. When my mum got married she wore a big heavy dress but she said the whole wedding was over by 7pm (my parents are coming up to their 50th wedding anniversary to be fair!) She’s always said if they had a wedding party with a band or disco she would have had to get changed into something lighter and easier to move around in. They can clearly afford for her to wear more than one dress so why not?!
