So an older woman wearing a cream dress to the wedding was a deal breaker?

She wanted to wear with a navy pashmina etc & I think feeling was not in keeping with vibe - all very Debenhams. They had a theme & I think she dug heels in.

bingalingg · 03/01/2026 07:34

Is that really a reason to ban her from the wedding though because she wanted to wear a different colour than the theme? Or is it because she then started slagging them off ? How awkward for everyone

EleanorReally · 03/01/2026 07:35

i have looked at the instagram,
odd photo with gr and the Beckhams, the beckhams standing where his parents would traditionally stand

EleanorReally · 03/01/2026 07:36

anyway, they are going to have Major post wedding blues

All this themes malarkey and digging in heels is unfathomable to me

Imagine you have a feisty mother with a chip on shoulder who feels slim & attractive in a ‘best’ dress. Suddenly you’re running in celeb circles & ‘looking down nose at them’ as she sees it…

Apparently Adams ex has spoken out about the fact that she wanted her son to have her name and Adam's and he said no. But he's now Ramsay-Peaty

She didnt speak to the press. "Sources" told them that she thought it was a bit hypocritical.

Or….

The what to wear to the wedding situation was one of MANY incidents that led to his parents being disinvited. But let’s not let a tiny insignificant thing like the truth get in the way of our collective rage about something that, ultimately, none of us know anything about and doesn’t involve us anyway, hey?

I think Hollys wedding dress is gorgeous, but why wear it only for a few hours? I never know why celebs have multiple changes of outfit at a wedding. I suppose they can afford it but it always seems to me that they’re trying to cram too much into one day.

The evening one was Tana's wedding dress

I'd think i'd invite everyone regardless of dress colour, class or 'feistiness'
No-one's perfect.

What a lovely dress.

All looks so staged though.

All wedding photos are staged at they not? I'm sure the ones that have been published aren't the sum total of the ones taken. Id rather look at those than random crowd shots

Totally agree. Cannot believe grown adults are arguing about something they will never know the full truth about and of which the truth is none of their business anyway.

Seems there are people hell bent on demonizing one side or the other regardless of anything that's said to the contrary. Bizarre.

But people are different, it doesn't matter what you or I would do, they made their choice for their reasons. Who knows what actually happened

The start of this thread was all posters certain they'd sold the photos to Hello, clearly not true but in the absence of facts rumours take hold

Me too, but if Mum shows up in a chain store dress it’s not ‘Vogue’. So…Groom says. “ Mum I’ll pay, you need 2 (or was it 3?) don’t worry. No cream but you can have what you like…”

“Not good enough for you are we?”…Things escalate. Culture clash.

Yes I suppose the ones linked to earlier are obviously the photo shoot for money.

I think it's the captions with them that make it seem so forced/artificial?

Call me shallow but I only looked at the photos, no reading😂

Some of these comments are dreadful, about people you don't know and a wedding you didn't go to, a speech you didn't hear and a back story taken from the pages of the Daily Mail.

A few of you are really letting your biases show here, about working class people, about famous people, about rich people, making huge assumptions based on nothing at all other than what the Daily Mail says.

Sadly the press really control this country. This is just a microcosm of how they control our views on politics.

All true but direct quotes from Mum, Gordon’s speech & the Aunt harder to argue with.

If there’s a huge, huge, wealth and/or class disparity a big celebration is always going to be problematic especially played out in public eye. If you court publicity for money you live & die by sword, unfortunately.

She wanted to wear the same colour as the bride - white/cream. She wanted to be invited to the hen, she wanted more of her wider family to be invited to the engagement party thrown by the Ramsays. When she didn’t get what she wanted she kicked off in the media. That’s the point she got banned.

If he’d married an average girl up road she’d likely have done all of this. She’s a forceful type IMO who might have been used to getting own way before. All sad & better approach ofc, lest said soonest mended. I’ve been at weddings where some have worn cream suits etc with coloured accessories.

I had a v rich boss once orig from working class background who paid for our mums & dads to go to a musical & posh London hotel - £££. Present. Those who didn’t meekly accept & cap doff were not regarded well!

Anyone who has a big class or money divide in fam will know it’s often problematic. Lots of ‘she’s up herself’ & all sorts of imagined slights when none intended. Scots v English etc too & cultural clashes.

InterIgnis · 03/01/2026 12:18

So because she said it, it must be true? All the direct quotes prove is their desire to have a particular narrative, in which she is the blameless victim, believed.

She also said she wants to reconcile with him, yet continues to do the very thing that she knows full well will make that impossible. I wouldn’t call be inclined to call her a trustworthy source at all.

Gordon said notching referencing their wealth or class.

Who knows what’s trustworthy but G apparently said Tana would be Mum to both. Unhelpful if so. Agree the Aunt & Mum of AP not coming out of it well.

I read that as publicly extending support to Adam, who may have very been appreciative of that. It also worked to address the proverbial elephant in the room.

You can usually get a good idea as to trustworthiness by looking at someone’s actions, and how well said actions align with their words.

Caroline Peaty and her sister have, from the beginning, picked their moments to maximize the attention they’d get. They’ve done their best to try and overshadow, if not ruin, the wedding. Why wait for Holly to post the hen party photos if she had such issue with not being invited? She was so upset yet her husband went on the stag and she agreed to babysit? She was so upset that it was vital that this be addressed in public? Yeah, okay.

We do know the situation with the brother is serious, and the mother’s response to it amounts to bleating ‘but faaamily’. We do know that she was put out because she was asked not to wear white, and didn’t get her way when it came to the engagement party guest list (for an event she was neither hosting nor financing). We also know that his sister and her partner were welcome at the wedding too, and the sister specifically played an important role in it. It is very obvious that this isn’t simply a situation that has arisen because of class or wealth differences.

Why? A hen do is for the bride’s close friends and family. I’ve never been to a hen with a MIL present, and only a couple with the mother. It’s simply not true that brides who are close to their mothers have to invite MILs to their hen - that would be weird and completely change the vibe.

When my daughter had her hen, she invited her sisters, friends, me AND her MIL. After we'd done what we were doing in the day (funnily enough in Bath!) there was an evening of pub crawling I think. I don't drink so I went home and MIL partied on with the best of them! Never bothered me
