I’m local to the wedding, and I know that other locals aren’t happy that the wedding has meant that Bath Abbey has closed for the entire day, despite the service only lasting for 90 mins. I guess the bride and groom didn’t want the flowers etc seen by others if they have an exclusive magazine deal, but it’s a shame for those visiting Bath for the day.

OP, are you local too, as you seem familiar with the area?

I wonder how many of the locals kicking up a fuss actually visit the abbey so often that it makes a difference to them that it's closed for one day

BDenergy · 28/12/2025 10:09

That’s exactly what it is, a cape.

really, it does look like bed sheet and not a cape

A polyester sheet

What an absolute bunch of twats on this thread sniping and bitching about a couple trying to navigate a really challenging situation.

No-one knows what Peaty’s childhood was like or what actually caused the rift. If it really was over the mum not being invited to the hen then it’s ridiculous. But it probably isn’t just that.

What crimes didn’t the couple manage to commit on their wedding day?

Covering the dress up.

Getting married in church (he’s apparently a Christian).

The bridesmaids wearing the wrong dresses (designed by Beckham).

Tana’s dress is too dreary and not festive enough although red makes you look like a handmaid even though it’s about as fucking festive as you can get!

Ok maybe Holly Ramsay is a bit up herself, who knows. But she’s a young woman surrounded by fame and money. She’s marrying a guy who’s had a lot of his own difficulties and her family have embraced him.
Give them a fucking break.

BDenergy · 28/12/2025 10:25

mydogisthebest · 28/12/2025 10:20

It may well be a cape but it doesn't look like one. It looks like a sheet.

But who fucking cares. It’s just another thing to be a snippy dick about.

Roobarbtwo · 27/12/2025 18:44

They apparently paid extra cash to have it shut off from the public even after they left - that screams entitled to me

Bet the Abbey could do with the money, though

I suspect that's part of the deal and something the Abbey insists on, as they need time to clear up. Why would the wedding party care what happens after the service is over?

because actually its surely a shame for the bride, every bride wants to look beautiful on her wedding day

Clockyclockz · 27/12/2025 14:39

for the Hello spread presumably

Isn't there a Netflix thingy about the Ramseys being made? It's just a money making ploy. Pity they didn't cover the red frocks too!

Quincette · 28/12/2025 10:28

I thought Tana’s dress was gorgeous. I think she’s been getting pap pose lessons from Vicky B. The hand up to her hair in every one.

VB’s dress was a bit strange. But bloody amazing figures, both of them.

bookmarket · 28/12/2025 10:30

I thought it's because he went to university there .

They are the ones making a big song and dance about getting married. They didn't have to get married in Bath Abbey did they? They could have got married somewhere quieter where crowds couldn't gather.

They didn't have to sell their photos to Hello mag did they? She didn't have to wear a sheet over her dress did she? With all the money in the family could she not have afford a nice cape that looked like a cape and not a shiny sheet?

They wanted the attention and they got it. That a lot of it is not positive is just tough shit.

You marry someone because you love them not to show off to the world

I saw that… so weird. I wondered why it looks like she’s walking through a high street?? That’s anything but exclusive 😁 haven’t followed this at all so have no context at all really other than I saw a headline that his mum hates her or something.

You can’t drive up to the door of Bath Abbey, you have to walk across a sort of square. That’s why loads of people are fitting there and that’s why she didn’t step from the car to the building.

And maybe she felt beautiful. Maybe her dress underneath was amazing and that was enough for her. Don’t pretend you feel sad for her. It’s so disingenuous when you’re just joining the pack slagging them off.

Bestfootforward11 · 28/12/2025 10:33

Why such horrible comments about a woman in her wedding dress? You don’t know her and what she wears doesn’t impact you. Such vitriol directed at a young woman is just unnecessary and unkind. If you see a pic and don’t like it, move on. Why is it impacting your day so much you need to let everyone know that you don’t like/approve of her/her dress/whatever even though you don’t know her and have never had any contact with her? Have a mince pie and stick the telly on.

  1. It’s a cape not a sheet.
  2. You don’t even know they’ve sold the pictures to Hello. Actually I read there’s a Netflix show coming.
Yes the wedding has been a big deal but isn’t that mostly because his family have been talking to the press and selling their stories?
Buscobel · 28/12/2025 10:34

I hope they are happy together. Isn’t that all you can hope for a couple who have just married?

Presumably, they have an income stream. It seems to often be difficult for ex sportsmen and women to develop careers after they have stopped competing.

Hello magazine will have insisted that no one see the dress until the photos are published.

Motnight · 28/12/2025 10:35

What an unpleasant thread.

So according to the latest article all the bridesmaids and mother of the bride wore VB dresses.

and ding ding the aunty text peaty just before he arrived just to add some more drama to the day.

“'I hope you never suffer the depth of pain you have put your mother through and despite it all she loves you still. Shame on you both. Shame.
'Remember on this, your happiest day, and on each anniversary of your happiest day, that you hurt your mum so deeply her soul screams.'”

I mean they just seem to love the drama which another member of the family also speaking to the press.

Though maybe it will all calm down now the weddings happened.

also talk of some of it being on Netflix.

I bet she's blocked so it never landed.

That was just spiteful

Cherrytree86 · 28/12/2025 10:38

She looks ridiculous

Quincette · 28/12/2025 10:19

Can we just remember that Holly is a young woman and as women ourselves aren't we supposed to lift each other up?

This nauseating saccharine shite again. Exactly why are we ‘lifting up’ 🤮 women by virtue of their sex? This trope is absolute nonsense.

I have no idea about any of these people btw. I’ve heard of Gordon Ramsay, but that’s it. I came on because of the tablecloth thread title. It was indeed an odd look.

It's not necessary to lift each other up but there's no excuse to tear each other down, some of the comments on here are horrible about a woman who is just getting married

Lolabear38 · 28/12/2025 10:40

Wow… there’s some really bitter/ mean comments on this thread. Quite a few of you are coming across as utterly pathetic - have an opinion by all means but the unkindness towards a complete stranger on her wedding day is wild! Most of these replies say a lot more about you than her.

At a guess, I would say they’ve sold their wedding pictures so she needs to keep her dress hidden from public view because of that. Not because ‘she really thinks she’s something’ or is ‘classless’ - no, that would be some of you.
