Snap happy SIL is coming over today

So here I am at 9:40 on Christmas morning doing a full face of makeup before getting started on Christmas lunch. I mean a full on glam makeup that would be suited to the red carpet!

She’s always complaining that we don’t take enough photos as a family, so here I am making sure I’m ready for the millions she takes.

Why do you need a full face of makeup?

This is a you issue not your sil.

Because she takes about a million photos and posts them all on social media with us all tagged! I really like her but this thing grates on me so much.

Yes because god forbid a woman takes five minutes to herself on Christmas Day

Its lovely memories. A bit of slap to make yourself look to your satisfaction is worth it surely.

We’ve just never been a big photo family. Some parts of it I don’t mind, like the selfies with everyone. But it’s the photos as we open presents or eat dinner that get me a little!

Could you ask her to NOT post them on Social media? Or post only a couple, that you pre approve?

If you want to put make-up on put it on and I have no idea why you are moaning about it. If you don't want to don't. It makes no difference to how many photos your SIL will take. If you don't want to be in photos without make-up you need to work on your self-esteem and/or assertiveness about not being in them in the first place.

OP you don't need a full face of make-up to take some family snaps. Everyone already knows what you look like day to day. Enjoy your day, enjoy the pictures depicting you enjoying the day.

I have my social media set so I have to approve anything I’m tagged in before it appears on my feed. Stops all the god awful pictures my DM posts of me 🙄

I’m always saying we should take more photos, but I’d also find it quite annoying if a guest was snapping away willy-nilly.

And my sister has never knowingly been in a photo. She’s very fat and incredibly insecure - this would be her worst nightmare.

I think that’s a little unfair. She had hundreds of friends, most of whom I know/have met, plus I have all of my work colleagues etc on my Facebook. I don’t want to be on Facebook looking exhausted!

Have you told her this?

As per a PP, I’ve just gone onto FB and IG and changed my settings so posts I’m tagged in have to be approved my me.

We’ve all mentioned it to her a few times. She just says she likes to have the memories and won’t post them, yet they always end up there!

I can’t believe Facebook is still a thing! 😂

So you are vain and want to look good..hence the full glam. Not sure what the issue is! You have a choice and you’ve chosen!

People know what you look like without makeup surely?

If I’m going to work/a social occasion I’ll be wearing makeup. I only don’t wear it if it’s a weekend and I’m not going to be socialising

Well yes..because you want to represent yourself a certain way. I’m not insulting you, I’d do the same and go full glam but we can’t blame anyone else for that choice ☺️
