We've had 2 birthdays in work today and I didn't join in with the singing of happy birthday. I hate it. Have a great day and all that but I don't feel the need to go and join in.

I also hate Christmas, it's a waste of money. Love the time with family but the rest of it can fuck off.

I also hate going for a wee and stopping for diesel.

What do you hate?

People who are claiming for benefits and don’t deserve them because they can or know how to play the system. It makes the really genuine ones look bad and that is just shameful and makes everyone annoyed.
Don’t know how they sleep at night.

LittleMissyHappyMe · 05/12/2025 18:21

Also…..
parking on the footpath / pavement
calling people ‘guys’
phone battery running low
bin day
not having a holiday booked
Menopause symptoms

Oh yes, those cyclists! They're also the sort who'll shave as much excess weight off their bikes by disposing of their bells etc whilst simultaneously being 20KG overweight because it'll give them the edge.

My husband's friend built his bike for him and said he didn't need lights as it's unnecessary weight. Que when my husband got stuck out and it started getting dark, I had to drive where he was to escort him home

strangers who stand right next to me e.g. in a queue - go away!

Customer service is a thing of the past , sadly.
Hived off to bots and ‘ chat’ lines where it’ll take you in a big old circle.

God yes, my DH and I frequently rant about this.

MouseCheese87 · 05/12/2025 18:38

When you're walking on a narrow road and someone in front of you will just STOP for some reason or other, then just as you get almost close enough to pass them by, they start walking and you're stuck right behind them walking at a snail pace.

PistachioTiramisu · 05/12/2025 18:43

Starmer, Reeves, Rayner and all Labour MPs and their policies
Children on trampolines
Children screaming in public places
Ant and Dec
Reality TV
Z list celebrities
People who say 'invite', 'advert', 'uni', etc. instead of the full word
Cats
Coca Cola
Filling the car with petrol
Going to the dentist
Films
Hot chocolate
Pasta
People who eat food with their fingers or just general bad table manners
People who slurp drinks

SnowyThings · 05/12/2025 18:43

I hate the smell of supermarkets. My M&S smells like fresh baked bread and Asda smells of sort of fake coconut/strawberry candles and wee. Also the latter has been playing Christmas music since October.

Ellen2shoes · 05/12/2025 18:45

Blow by blow anecdotes with he said and she saids. Just get to the point.
Being charged sly £50 to get hair dried added on after colour
Form filling
Endless pointless admin
plastic
bins on streets. Just bins. Ugly plastic
despots
Litter bugs
Racists
Those noise amplifiers on bikes and cars that rev
my hair

the80sweregreat · 05/12/2025 18:49

The cost of a hair cut. It is getting ridiculous.
Its a World Cup year next year :(

Thepeopleversuswork · 05/12/2025 18:49

People who use the phrase "my little family" occupy a special place in hell
People who go on about being an "introvert" as if it makes them really interesting and quirky
Ironing
People who play music without headphones on public transport
Spiders
Tennis on the TV in summer
Passwords on any conceivable website/app or any kind of internet activity

80smonster · 05/12/2025 18:50

Class whatsapps. I’d rather never have another piece of lost uniform back, so long as the PTA can’t scent me via telephone - like bloodhounds.

hoxtonbabe · 05/12/2025 18:50

All this thread has done was made me realise I’m not as grumpy and miserable as I thought because I agreed with the majority of these gripes 😂 and I feel comfort knowing it’s “not just me “

Although the one that’s really getting my blood pressure up at the moment is the food delivery cyclist with no lights… dressed in all black and no lights, what could possibly go wrong 😡🙄

the80sweregreat · 05/12/2025 18:50

Ellen
People who can’t make a story short. I fear it’s becoming a lost art form !

Hufflebuffs · 05/12/2025 18:58

Christmas cards. I mean it’s very kind and all but I hate them in the house.

EdithStourton · 05/12/2025 18:58

Horizontal rain which gets all over my glasses even if I'm wearing a brimmed hat (bought specifically to keep rain off my glasses).

Large companies whose call centre workers entirely fail to resolve your issue, in fact make it worse (looking at you, EE; E.ON also a contender here. BT I no longer deal with because they're so shit - but they're linked to EE which may explain things).

Snide sisters-in-law. After 30 years of their shit, I'm done.

People who drive on country lanes but are unable to reverse back to the passing space one car length behind them, and instead expect me to reverse back 50 yards round a bloody bend.

People who talk loudly or play music out loud on trains, buses. People who play music so loudly you can hear it five doors down. People who think screeching in the street at midnight is acceptable behaviour.

Whichever person it is who chucks beer cans into the bushes along the footpath near my house. In fact, any bugger who litters anywhere.

People who let their little darling run amuck and shout the place down in the doctor's surgery, library etc.

Reviewing my (incomplete) list, I see it's mostly people. Not A Fan.

mashandgravy · 05/12/2025 18:59

People who get out of a lift or off an escalator and just stand there. People watching videos or loudly flicking through TikTok on their phones on public transport. Virtue signalling. DEI bollocks. Cancel culture. Wokeism every time I turn on the telly or radio. Real sexism, racism, and bigotry. Fake grifters who casually accuse other people of such for nothing of the sort. Sarcasm. Climate change crackpottery. Mouth-frothers and people who enjoy being offended. People who don't indicate. Mushrooms. Covid hysterics. Narcissistic parents who dress their kids up as the opposite sex and call them trans. Most public institutions. Most politicians. Making lists of things I hate.

newbluesofa · 05/12/2025 19:01

I don't mind singing happy birthday to others but I hate having it sung to me! What do you do with your face? Where do you look?

YorkshireGoldDrinker · 05/12/2025 19:02

MrsSkylerWhite · 05/12/2025 12:17

Topping up tyres in howling wind.

Same. Maybe one day I'll get a decent-sized garage I can back the car into when the weather is crap. I can but dream.

RampantIvy · 05/12/2025 19:04

Driving on unlit country lanes in the dark and driving rain and being dazzled by oncoming car headlights.

ImWearingPantaloons · 05/12/2025 19:10

People who congregate in shop doorways or the middle of shop aisles to have a chat.

Fuck off out the way you weapons, go to a cafe or something to have a catch up, not the middle of the fecking veg aisle.

This brings out the bastard in me. One who says “excuse me!” in a tone.

Itsnotallaboutyoulikeyouthink · 05/12/2025 19:21

The drivers who turn right at the crossroads, see the traffic lights for the road they have just entered and stop. It’s not your light, there is no stop line there. This then leads to drivers behind getting stuck in middle of crossroads. Sends me raging.

I worked with teens for a while and the 'I have ADHD' seemed to be the go to line for
(a) excusing bad behaviour.
(b) not wanting to do mundane tasks like completing application forms.
(c) brazenly asking for free stuff.
(d) lack of punctuality
(e) can't be arsed attitude.

Interesting how selective ADHD is, as some of these kids had no problem filming, editing and posting tik tok videos, playing complex games on their phones, writing and posting on FB, explaining how the algorithm worked on Instagram, one ADHD girl sitting quietly for half an hour and photo editing a selfie she'd taken...

As one of my cynical colleagues used to say; 'these mental health alphabet diseases are the new 'bad back'.

Love
mental health alphabet diseases 😂
