Bought something from a vending machine in work and it got stuck. I went to get changed, came back and it was gone...

Hello

My workplace has a vending machine. I bought a £2 drink this morning from it but the metal thingy turned around but didnt release the item so it got stuck.

I went to get more change to buy the one behind it/above it to try to release it, but the original one that was stuck was gone...

Im pissed off about this.

What do you make of this?

Do you think im being unreasonable?

@PatThePenguin
Soda problem is someone else took it?
Better call the fizz fuzz.

How unnecessary. Some people can’t resist having a pop.

Thanks, I agree.

People here are making little of this.

I dont care about the can or the £2, but the principle of it... I was only away for for a short time to get more change, came back and it was gone,

If someone would take this, what else would they take (or maybe I should be using the word "steal"?)...(and possibly they have been doing it in the past too) . What other kinds of dishonesty in the could they be up to...?

I havent said what kind of work it is.

This is what concerns me.

Its a reasonably small workplace in my opinion.

I agree, today a can of pop, tomorrow, the crown jewels. It's a slippery, slippery slope.

Furious on your behalf, but on the other hand, someone is having a great day thanks to you Grin

Though I quite like the idea of the Crown Jewels being in a vending machine. Camilla banging on the glass when the wrong tiara comes out (‘I definitely hit D3!), Kate kicking it when only one drop diamond earring clatters into the bottom.

I honestly thought this was a joke based on yesterday's thread

A story with no happy vending.

When did the penny drop?

Lavender14 · 27/11/2025 16:33

Aw someone is out there somewhere talking about what a lucky thing that just happened to them. I'd take it that you've earned yourself some good karma and paid it forward op.

OP they didn't know you didn't get your drink. For all they knew they just got lucky and the machine chucked out an extra free drink. That would be my assumption.

It's annoying but it's not stealing and I really don't think you need to be 'concerned'.

Ive been busy and Im only coming back to this thread (or whatever its called)

maybe they DO know they got my drink- the machine is in kinda an openinish area with a few people about further away in the area in the at the time this happened, it could have been one of them (ie they couldve saw me trying to get it out then saw me going away and then got it out themselves and kept it...and possibly seen me back at the machine again looking for it and they said nothing)...or someone could have heard me banging the flap of the machine then waited til I was gone and taken it for themselves.

As for being concerned, Im concerned in case anything else gets stolen.

(The can and £2 are only a minor inconvenience to me)

The work involves dealing with goods/customer products and a certain amount of customer details/info- im concerned incase anything else goes missing....

(I maybe shouldve mentioned the stuff Ive written in this comment/post in my opening post)

Im not sure what to think but my initial reaction is to strongly disagree.

Especially if someone saw me try to get it out and then saw me leave and just took it shortly after and said nothing to me about it(which I think may have happened).
