Made myself worse

Hi all I don't know if I'm over reacting.. was in a discussion other day with my partner and it was getting abit heated as in tones where changing etc. We were talking about cosmetic procedures Iv lost a lot of weight and my boobs aren't what they was I said oh I'd love them done he responded with you don't need them etc etc
Topic changed slightly and he then come out with and you've made your face worse since having Botox and lip filler I asked what he ment and he said in my opinion you've made your face worse ... now it's hard to judge without seeing me I know but I had 0.5ml in lips and Botox on forehead an crows feet everyone says I look well. His comment has really hurt me and made me feel self conscious he said he was being a c*nt and sorry but now I feel how I feel and how longs he been thinking this. Sounds trivial written but was harsh an unnecessary comment that was very personal. Don't know if I'm over the top though

I'd be waaay more worried of a boyfriend or partner that was telling me I needed cosmetic surgery to please them, or make me more attractive, right? Im getting targeted ads showing women getting facelifts in their early 50s, the pressure will never end because the lift effect only lasts so long.

I don't think this is very different to me telling DH I prefer him without a beard. He should have said it at a less heated moment though.

op. Mumsnet is not the right place to post this. Theres a lot of aesthetics hate here. Had you have posted that your husband said he wants you to wear a bra beciase he thinks your boobs are big, everyone would tell you how controlling he is.

He said you’re gorgeous and he prefers you without Botox - he’s saying you’re beautiful as you are. Strikes me as a really lovely thing to say. I couldn’t get upset at that - sorry OP.

Of course he's entitled to his opinion but not to share it with anyone. Mostly not you in that 100% unkind way but also not to anybody: family, friends, the pizza delivery man.

Whatever he said afterwards will never make up for hurt he caused. You don't mention how long you've been together or whether you had this treatment since you've been together. Unless it's been ages, I would seriously reconsider life with someone like him.

0.5ml of filler in lips is barely noticeable.

In reality lots of people look better without Botox and fillers, and he may just be saying to your face what others are saying behind your back. But it’s your body so your choice but hubby doesn’t need to pretend to like it.

Lip filler never looks good. People think it's subtle but you can always see the change in shape from the side.

He said it in the wrong way, at the wrong time and for the wrong reason. He was saying it to have a swipe at you, and that's unkind and unfair. If it was a genuine opinion he could have raised it in a kind and gentle way to let you know how he feels but that's not what he did. You're hurt because he was being hurtful.

Also the reason a lot of PPs are posting faux-naive comments about how it was such a lovely thing to say (completely ignoring the content, context and delivery of the comment) is because the majority of posters on this site tend to be very anti aesthetic procedures and therefore want to put you in your place, and pat themselves on the back for being morally superior to you.
