My girl is having her kittens! First one is here squeaking and healthy!

Second is imminent.

I think she’ll have 4 🤞🏽🤞🏽

Many moons ago, my husband had a cat who had been missing for weeks, suddenly came home, jumped on his bed and promptly had a litter of kittens.
He didn’t even know she was pregnant!

And he always remembers the sweet look on her little face when she was having ‘contractions’.

I hope your puss cat and her kittens are all fine and dandy.

I have two black cats and they are fab. DH always wonders how I can tell them apart in the dark. The girl chirrups though while the boy is silent. I had to cut a flap of hanging torn ear off him a week ago and he was silent even then.

I've never had cats before of my own. I'm a dog person but I adore them to distraction.

I can’t believe I’m the first person to say it, but why is your cat having kittens? Why isn’t she spayed?

OP, You sound like a very caring owner and l see you mention this will be her only litter, but do please get her spayed as soon as you can after she has finished feeding her kittens.She could come into heat very quickly post partum so keep her indoors until then. In my area sadly we are inundated with unwanted cats and kittens needing homes due to people not getting their cats neutered, so many unwanted strays due to over breeding.

I was wondering about that too - & not just for the OP but for the other people on this thread reminiscing about their cats giving birth.

I would reconsider the whole keeping one kitten thing - I had to rehome one of my cats because mum cat's instinct is to drive kittens away to their own new territories when they grow up. I hope this doesn't happen to you because it was heartbreaking for us and I still miss my rehomed cat terribly 💔 but it had to be done because they were both so stressed (to the point of illness) with each other's presence. Something to consider...

I had a cat move in with me, reveal she was pregnant, then have kittens. It was magical.

However as a PP said, she didn’t tolerate the kits for long. Though she moved on out and left them behind for me to rehome. Sadly I couldn’t keep them as it became apparent DH was allergic.

Maybe for anyone who’s reading this thread & thinking they’d like a litter of kittens too?

The OP’s cat is obviously loved & everything seems to have gone well, but I do comms for my small local rescue, which includes spending a lot of time doing posts about why the best thing you can do for your cat is to spay her as a kitten - both for her health and because of the numbers of abandoned & stray kittens out there desperate for homes.

@EmpressaurusKittybecause there seems to be a lot of people who think that their cat should have one litter to experience motherhood. It’s irresponsible and unnecessary. Rescues are swamped with cats.

Our local cat rescue where we got our moggy from is too full for new admissions now because they have so many kittens. I can only assume that this was an accident. Surely nobody is deliberately breeding moggys.

There are so many cats who are in rescue centres who need adopting. Rescue centres are overrun with cats.
