The press need to move on?

I wish the focus would move away from Andrew to the other individuals who were involved in the mistreatment of women trafficked by Epstein?

AIBU- to wish they would move on and widen their reporting?

OP posts:
estrogone · 01/11/2025 08:41

Donald J Trump. Those files will have to be released at some point.

Summerhillsquare · 01/11/2025 08:45

The reporting on Andrew is to show no one is protected in the UK, sends a message.

LookAtMeWithStarryEyes · 01/11/2025 08:51

No, this is a huge news story. Virginias family want this in the news after everything she went through, which resulted in her death, so I’m all for it. Destroy the cunt.

Hopefully the focus will then shift to others. They all need their time in the spotlight individually and each time it should be long and drawn out! If we moved onto others so soon it would water Andrew’s (and each individuals) part down. Let’s not do that.

ChocHotolate · 01/11/2025 08:52

Yes I agree. His behaviour was despicable but he was far far from the only one. I want to know who else abused these young women and girls

PhaseFour · 01/11/2025 08:54

@SummerhillsquareI agree to some extent, but it also worries me. Andrew has lost his titles and his residence, but I feel that there's a sentiment doing the rounds along the lines of...he's no longer a prince and that's punishment enough, leave him be! Move on!

The OP, I think is saying as much. The others haven't been named yet. Andrew's punishment should not end with a loss of titles. He needs to face criminal charges.

HelpMeGetThrough · 01/11/2025 09:00

The news will move on when some new disaster happens, then the channels will report that to death. Matey will be very much out of the news then.

Sadcafe · 01/11/2025 09:04

I’ve said the same on several other threads, he’s not the only person to have been friends with Epstein but no one really seems to mention them, some of it does seem to be the obsession with royal bashing

I don't think it will water his part down. If anything, it will put it in the context of his having been involved with a number of awful people, Trump included. We should not be letting them off the hook for the sake of focussing on one person.

The reporting on Andrew is to show no one is protected in the UK, sends a message.

But he IS being protected

He has moved from one mansion paid for by us to another also paid for by us ( Charles’ money ultimately comes from us)

He hid on large estates to avoid being served and has never helped the police or FBI despite pledging to .

Andrew is being protected and the nonsense about ‘titles’ is meaningless and is in no sense justice .
Most people see that now and others will quickly realise they have been tricked

Ukisgaslit · 01/11/2025 09:16

In fact when you look at Andrew’s involvement with the Chinese and Middle Eastern interests and the fact that details of his time as a trade envoy are sealed we look bloody medieval as usual

Andrew is above the law and the plebs are thrown a bone to distract them

LookAtMeWithStarryEyes · 01/11/2025 09:20

I haven’t said we should let any of them off the hook. I just believe they deserve a long time individually in the spotlight. We already have the context of this being part of something much bigger.

You only need to read some posters on the RF board to see that they want this shut down about Andrew particularly, they can’t see anything bad said about their precious RF. They’re desperately trying to blame Harry, Virginias brother, even saying their poor Andrew was groomed…ffs. No, he needs to have a long time individually the spotlight because this must never be allowed to be minimised. The public have literally paid for him whilst he has been involved in raping girls, of course Andrew as a British Prince is going to get a lot of attention in Britain, probably more so than American billionaires who have funded themselves.

I have family in the US and their press is much more focused on the American men involved in this and they aren’t so bothered about a British man.

Ukisgaslit · 01/11/2025 09:21

OP you are being unreasonable.

Whether you meant it or not your title looks like the sort of thing Windsor apologists say .

Ukisgaslit · 01/11/2025 09:22

@LookAtMeWithStarryEyes

Yes - exactly . I sense the same thing here as you do
How depressing.

Summerlilly · 01/11/2025 09:31

I do wish the media would also focus on all the other victims and powerful men involved in this. They also need to be identified, investigated and flamed alive.

Virginia’s father sex trafficked her out also and then got on the telly one day and talked about how great it was going to be to take money from Andrew for what he did.
Meanwhile he drove and collected his daughter from said parties and even took part in them.
I wouldn’t be surprised if he took a cut of the money she made. This also needs to be talked about and the rest of men need to be punished!

captainoctopus · 01/11/2025 09:34

I expect efforts are being made to keep Andrew out of sight and shut him up, rather than letting him give evidence because he could dump Trump and other major American (possibly British) big- wigs in the shit which would cause a major diplomatic upset.
Perhaps if Trump gets ousted eventually Andrew will be encouraged to speak?

From what I understand Virginia’s family were the cause of a lot of what happened to her. She left home young because she was being sexually abused at home.

cottonwoolie · 01/11/2025 09:41

Tbf they have probably sat on it for years so have a lot of material. Add in associated stories they can write about Charles, William and Harry.

cottonwoolie · 01/11/2025 09:42

some of it does seem to be the obsession with royal bashing

What's wrong with royal bashing though? And during times of economic strife it tends to increase.

Virginia said was sexually abused by her father. The family members referred to here, the ones speaking up for her, are her younger brother (and her sister in law). Her brother was only a child when Virginia was victimised by Epstein. He was much younger than that when Virginia suffered sexual abuse at home.

cottonwoolie · 01/11/2025 09:43

yep, so much shady financial stuff.

DickDewey · 01/11/2025 09:45

I do think the press are dragging this on a bit now.

But then I’d also quite like to see a photo of Andrew leaving Windsor looking dejected in a car rammed with his belongings. 😆

Yes, I’ve followed US media coversge and it is more focussed on the American men. Andrew’s getting coverage now in America because it is current news, and it helps to keep the demand for the Epstein files in the forefront of people’s minds.

PoetryEmotion · 01/11/2025 10:02

On the contrary, OP. The more the press report what has been done to Andrew, the more pressure it puts on other countries and Trump.

Yes, but that hasn’t stopped the pro Andrew posters pointing the finger at her brother. They’re pathetic and desperate.

Her brother and SIL are her family, they want this in the news and were definitely not ‘the cause of a lot of what happened to her’. Her brother was a child.
