To get a paw print tattoo?

Axolotyls · 16/10/2025 22:34

I want a tattoo of my dog’s paw print. DH thinks it’s estatey but I don’t agree, do you?

Anyobe else have one and where on the body did you get it? I initially thought over the heart but my boobs are too saggy and it will distort 😂

Is estatey a word im too thick to understand or a typo? Serious question 🙈 But basically get whatever you want! Your body, your choice!

wherewillwegoto · 16/10/2025 22:39

I thought about getting the paw print of my cat, no longer with us. I don't know what estatey means, but agree with pp, do what you want, as long as you're happy with it.

Devilsmommy · 16/10/2025 22:40

It's a bit late 90's/ early 00's but if you want it then get it. Up to you when it's on your body🤷

FuzzyWolf · 16/10/2025 22:40

It’s your body and not harming anyone.

Arlanymor · 16/10/2025 22:44

I don’t like the inference of the word ‘estatey’ - but it’s your body, do what you want. I have five tattoos and the placement for each depended on the design.

intrepidpanda · 16/10/2025 22:48

Yep it's chavvy. In a sense its your body but on the other hand he has to look at it.

ThePoshUns · 16/10/2025 22:49

Bit naff IMO

TeenLifeMum · 16/10/2025 22:52

I mean, tattoos aren’t often seen on the upper classes. I don’t think anyone having one thinks “this will make me look sophisticated and posh” so it depends if that’s what you’re striving for. (I have no desire to look “posh” and think the best tattoos are ones with meaning - do what you like)

Plenty posh people have tattoos. They just tend to have something a little more elegant and artistic.

Worriedalltheday · 16/10/2025 23:00

I would think it’s some gang symbol or drug related if I saw that

PeonyPatch · 16/10/2025 23:01

I knew a lady who got a paw print tattoo of her dogs paw (had a missing claw) on her shoulder.

It was hideous.

Popopopopol · 16/10/2025 23:01

People are right, it’s your body but it’s weird people don’t think your DH should have a view.

Presumably if OP’s DH decided to have a spiders web tattooed on his face, you’d expect OP to comment on that decision?

Moveoverdarlin · 16/10/2025 23:02

Think it’s just really chavvy.

Really?? You wouldn’t just think ‘that woman likes dogs’? 🤣

LarryIsMyRomanEmpire · 16/10/2025 23:03

I want a car paw at some point, its my body and I like my tattoos.

NewPinkJacket · 16/10/2025 23:04

I'd think your dog was dead if I saw that.

But then again, it will be one day anyway I suppose.

AmyDuPlantier · 16/10/2025 23:04

I’ve got 8 tattoos, most very visible, most wouldn’t be everyone’s choice. Who cares? Get what makes you happy 🤷‍♀️

Lovemycat2023 · 16/10/2025 23:05

I’ve thought about getting the same (cat 🐾 ). My tattoos are just for me - under my clothes and no one other than the tattooist and my partner has seen them. You could do that if you prefer.

TeenLifeMum · 16/10/2025 23:08

👀 looks around at friends in there 40s and 50s with tattoos and starts wondering what drug gangs they’re keeping under wraps. Were all those ptfa cake sales something entirely different to what I thought 🤔🤔😂

YourWinter · 16/10/2025 23:08

”Estatey” isn’t a word I’ve come across but I think I know what he means: common, cheap and chavvy?

I absolutely hate tattoos on anyone, whatever the artwork, I think they look ridiculous and repulsive.

A friend made a copy of her dear dog’s paw print using silver modelling clay, which is baked to set it (I’ve only seen a photo). It looks wonderful and a fabulous memento.

Facial tattoos are a bit different, as there's still a lot of stigma around them in employment and the world in general. But otherwise, if a tattoo is well-executed and not offensive, I can't see why anyone's partner should get to dictate whether they get a tattoo or what the design or placement is - it's OPs body, and her choice!
I have quite a few tattoos (no paw prints) and can't imagine having to get artistic approval off DH before getting another! It'd be like him dictating how I dress or whether I wear makeup!

Franjipanl8r · 16/10/2025 23:13

So bad, so so bad. I wouldn’t be able to contain my disgust if someone told me they had a paw print tattoo, I couldn’t even pretend to like it.

I agree they shouldn’t dictate but surely it’s not unreasonable to hold and express an opinion?

Lidlisthebusiness · 16/10/2025 23:14

I wouldn't, I've never seen a paw print tatto that looks good. I'm definitely not anti tattoo, my husband has lots and I have a few but I think they should be well designed, original pieces. We'd always consult each other if we wanted a new one, and I probably wouldn't get something he wouldn't like to look at.
Paw prints are akin to dolphins or devil's. But ultimately, it's up to you.

would it even look like a paw print if you didn’t know it was a paw? Wouldn’t it look like something dodgy?
