To get a paw print tattoo?

Axolotyls · 16/10/2025 22:34

I want a tattoo of my dog’s paw print. DH thinks it’s estatey but I don’t agree, do you?

Anyobe else have one and where on the body did you get it? I initially thought over the heart but my boobs are too saggy and it will distort 😂

I have my old cats prints tattooed. Don’t really care what others think, I’m heavily tattooed but mostly under clothes!

I'm not a tattoo fan but the only one I would consider would be a paw print, but it would be in a discreet place,

Planesmistakenforstars · 17/10/2025 09:40

Do what you want on your own skin. I'm a chav from an estate though (but not in a drug gang,) so you might want take that with a pinch of salt and get something classier.

I'd think your dog was dead if I saw that.

But then again, it will be one day anyway I suppose.

😂
This comment wins.

"Estatey"?! Absolutely horrible word that says so much about you and your absolute horror at doing anything that the povvos might also be doing. I'd be doing some serious naval gazing if I were you OP, because it sounds like you have a massive problem with elitism and snobbery- and that's uglier than any tattoo.

Almostwelsh · 17/10/2025 09:45

I wouldn't. They are not attractive tattoos and it would make me cringe to look at one on my partner. Get a portrait painted of your dog and hang it on your wall instead.

But feel free to ignore me, as Im not keen on either dogs or tattoos despite being as common as muck.

I would think it’s some gang symbol or drug related if I saw that

🤣

It's a bit late 90's/ early 00's but if you want it then get it. Up to you when it's on your body🤷

When was dating tattoos ever a thing ?🤔This reply sounds like it should be on Style and Beauty.
Estatey? I think h means chavvy by that knobbish comment, but then that's his way of thinking and his opinion.
If it's what YOU want OP, why ask just go for it. I doubt many people look at other peoples tats anyway and I say that with tats myself.

Read the opening thread. It's her h who said it and who is being a knob not her.

"Plenty posh people have tattoos. They just tend to have something a little more elegant and artistic."

King George V and his brother Prince Albert Victor had tattoos. King George had a tiger and two dragons on his arms.

I suppose that they were a bit "estate-y" - if the estates in question were Windsor, Sandringham and Balmoral

LeanToWhatToDo · 17/10/2025 10:07

I like the idea of a menopausal woman with a dragon tattoo. Far more realistic than The Girl With Regular Hormones and A Dragon Tattoo.

Stylised prints can look cute (but I guess lack the meaning of a copy of an actual print). Copies of actual prints can look a bit of a splotchy mess. Yes I think of them as ‘estatey’, so if bothers you they have that perception then rethink.

Wow there's some serious snobs on here!

DarkRootsBlue · 17/10/2025 13:47

@pinkyredrose or just realistic. I couldn’t give a toss what tattoos people choose to have, but the OP clearly cares what people will think.

I have one. I don’t care if it’s “estate-y”! It’s on my inner arm so easily covered up. I work in a professional job (lecturer) and no-one has ever batted an eyelid if I have a short sleeved top on. I had it done last year when we had to have our lovely cat pts quite unexpectedly aged ten - I’m so glad I asked the vet nurse to take her paw prints, and I love that she’s always with me. I always called her “my sweetest little heart” and the heart underneath is the heart I would write on eg a birthday card.

I actually have another tattoo in the same place on my other arm - lyrics from a song in an old school typewriter font. With both tattoos I researched the artist and thought carefully before committing to them. No regrets. Estate-y as fuck round here. People on MN have very strong negative feelings about tattoos, but in my real life most people I know have at least one.

I would never in a million years have known that was a cat paw print! I was genuinely trying to work out what it was, like one of those ink blot pictures.

The word is used in the OP.

I guess that’s the difference between a stylised drawing/cartoon of a paw print, and an actual print from a cat’s paw. As my post explains, this is a print from my cat’s paw, taken by the vet nurse after she was put to sleep last year. Very meaningful to me, even if it’s “estate-y”. 🐾

That's an unnecessary comment, the tattoo is a commemoration of their dearly loved cat.

I’m sure that poster didn’t mean to be quite so rude!

I think you need to google some of the alternative meanings of a paw print tattoo.
Then abandon the idea.

This is exactly what I was thinking! Was shocked to find this only popped up after scrolling for ages!
